2022 draft eligible QBs - General Discussion

QB- Kenny Pickett (Pitt) is having a day on Georgia Tech soil. This QB’s stock is going up. I think this game will put him squarely in RD2 discussions.

I think he will be Round 2 and after the SB he’ll climb into Round 1.
I'll add Pickett to the discussion. He earned it with his win today. The one concern I have after watching today's game is arm strength. By that I mean if he were a MLB pitcher, it looks like he has an 80 mph fastball. I didn't see anything with a lot of zip on the ball.

I watched Grayson McCall last night. I will watch Desmond Ridder tonight. I must say McCall has great touch, finesse and accuracy on his passes. The one thing that bothers me is I never saw him throw a pass that could pass muster in the NFL. By that I mean arm strength or lack there of. Even on sideline and crossing patterns his passes still had that slow soft touch. He may only have a 80 mph fastball. His numbers are impressive thou. He also beat Zach Wilson last year and lost his bowl game in overtime to Liberty and Malik Willis.

Desmond played a good game. My only draw back is had a couple easy throws where he missed badly. Throws he should made with no problem.

U of TX Junior Casey Thompson is impressing me versus Oklahoma today 38- 20. Isn't afraid to run or hang in pocket, good arm and launches readily. 6'1" so probably measures less. Interestingly born in Oklahoma City Ok.

I never got Rattler as a top of the draft player. I would not want Spencer before the 3rd day. IMO, he should transfer, add some size/strength and work on being less erratic.
A lot of it IMO was previous QBs at Oklahoma going into NFL. Most mocks have him much lower in round one and one I saw had him dropping out of round one. I see him returning but unsure at this point if at OK or transfer portal.

Williams is bringing the Sooners back with 8 minutes left 33-41 Texas and on the move.

Williams seems to have "it" that his teammates respond to...and the game is now tied.

Pickett did have a rushing TD as well…..not a lot of running yards but a rushing TD nonetheless.

Grayson McCall QB Coastal Carolina (stats leader) on ESPN2 right now. I'm interested in feedback on what posters here think about his arm. Does he have an NFL arm? He has great touch and finesse but can he make those intermediate tight window throws. Kind of reminds me of Kellen Moore. McCall throws with a lot of air under the ball but boy can he drop them in the bucket.

Grayson McCall

Here’s a write up on him that’s interesting. I’d want to see him throw more to get a final opinion. Although if he does leave for the draft, I’d spend a late 3rd early 4th on him to see if it could work out.

Pickett’s biggest test of the season is this Saturday against Clemson. Let’s see if he can keep up the good work and have his stock take another leap. He’s beginning to get a lot of coverage. I even noticed in one Mock….the Dolphins draft Pickett in RD1 in the hopes that lightening strikes twice for their organization.

That’s how the media is beginning to bill him…..not me. If Pitt gets past Clemson, it could elevate him to top 5 of the 2022 class if he has a decent to very good game.
A good game against Clemson and good bowl game could do just that. This will be his best proving ground. Having two really good performances in those two games will really turn some heads and open some eyes, no doubt. Clemson is a 3 pt underdog. If Kelly can beat them by 2 TDs that would be making a statement.
