And that 40 is all dead money.I think the safest answer to that one is …. " That's beyond my pay grade !" However, I know whose pay grade it's not beyond …. Roger Goodell …. $40 million per year …. gotta be child's play for him !!
So there are going to be changes, by all accounts I don't think there is going to be a Feb Combine. All interviews will be done via Zoom. Workouts will be done at individual pro days and medical evaluations are looking like they will do them in early April. Official announcement about Combine changes is still in the making. How do you think the NFL would weather combine players and etcetera getting vaccine before doctors, First Responders?
Dude, go back and read some of my draft posts. I had Cordarrelle Patterson over Hopkins. Suggs over Andre Johnson. Don't put me in the driver's seat. Man's gotta know his limitations.
Watt had 5 sacks this year. If anyone gives up anything higher than a 5th rd pick, the Texans would be lucky. Mckinney and getting that either.Do you think Watt will fetch a late 2nd? I was thinking a 3rd + 2022 5th.
I was also thinking that McKinney could be traded for a 3rd or 4th.
CBS Sports has the same mock with the Jets and Texans.
I want us to draft a new C. Martin has been mediocre at best, and his contract isn’t worth keeping him around.
It’sa great year for OL and I think we could upgrade in the 3rd or 4th.
Quinn Meinerz was a senior bowl standout and I loved what I was drinking in the clips.
Josh Myers and Creed Humphrey are other guys I’d consider, but they might be off the board.
Had time lately to really get to looking at some kids in this one and if we do end up moving DW I wouldn't be mad at a haul that nabs us..
1.2 - QB Zach Wilson
1.23 - S Trevon Moehrig
2.34 - ED Joe Tryon
2022 1st
2022 3rd
DL Quinnen Williams
Give me
23. Barmore
34. Melifonu
I guess that means he's going to the Dolphins?CBS Sports has the same mock with the Jets and Texans.
I like Moehrig (ground covered, instincts/iq, tackling, ball skills) far better than Melifonwu and I'll take a terrific edge prospect like Tryon rather than clustering two DT's if the scenario already includes Q Williams. And I say that quite liking Barmore.
Jmo..
Given up on Blacklock? Seems like a good fit in Smith's front as a 3-tech.Ohmeniu/Williams/Barimore/Smith
McKinney ain't splashy, but he is a helluva workhorse. Would hate to lose him.Do you think Watt will fetch a late 2nd? I was thinking a 3rd + 2022 5th.
I was also thinking that McKinney could be traded for a 3rd or 4th.
Don’t get me wrong I really like him, but I’m just worried about his speed in Lovie’s system.McKinney ain't splashy, but he is a helluva workhorse. Would hate to lose him.
Given up on Blacklock? Seems like a good fit in Smith's front as a 3-tech.
I think that might be a little high for SmithForgot about him
Then give me Melifonu in the 1st.
I really like Jordan Smith at 23 too.
I think that might be a little high for Smith
The thing that scares me about Matt Jones is he was surrounded by an enormous amount of talent. What is he like when he is not?Pretty sure we're targeting Matt Jones.
That's about where PFF Draft Guide has Mond slotted. In @steelbtexan Jets trade mock I opted for QB Davis Mills from Stanford because I thought he has a higher ceiling.I've got him slated in my Mock as a RD6 pick....that makes him a QB3 or just above a PS QB. I figure if the Texans get Darnold (Jets trade) or Tua (Miami trade) and re-sign McCarron then that makes Mond a nice developmental QB who has a big arm but needs to refine his mechanics. Low risk high reward type of investment.
In recent years, the better QBs have been drafted outside the top 10, so unless Zack slides.... I wouldn’t expect the Texans to draft him. Instead, I’d be looking for the next Kalil Mack, Ndomokong Suh, or even a Ray Lewis
Josh Allen
Blake Bortles
Joe Burrow
Sam Darnold
Jared Goff
Justin Herbert
Daniel Jones
Patrick Mahomes
Marcus Mariota
Baker Mayfield
Kyler Murray
Josh Rosen
Tua Tagovailoa
Mitchell Trubisky
Carson Wentz
Jameis Winston
-11-
Teddy Bridgewater
Jacoby Brissett
Derek Carr
Connor Cook
Jimmy Garoppolo
Dwayne Haskins
Christian Hackenberg
Jalen Hurts
Lamar Jackson
Cardale Jones
Jordan Love
Paxton Lynch
Johnny Manziel
Zach Mettenberger
AJ McCarron
Dak Prescott
Mason Rudolph
Deshaun Watson
Nathan Peterman
Tom Savage
This guy is going to be a superstar. Or, so I was told 4 years ago.Nathan Peterman
So you would rather be stuck with a QB whose cap number won't allow you to win a SB?This guy is going to be a superstar. Or, so I was told 4 years ago.
Yep, @Mollywhopper 's list confirms just how easy it is to get a franchise QB. No problem replacing Watson.
So you would rather be stuck with a QB whose cap number won't allow you to win a SB?
But hey, you got your QB.
Yes, I’d rather have a QB than cap space. The salary cap trophy celebration is pretty lame.
Unfortunately, I don’t get a choice in the matter.
It's easier to work around that cap, the way it's been done time & time again in the NFL than it is to find one that can actually play.So you would rather be stuck with a QB whose cap number won't allow you to win a SB?

Granted, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Jimmy Garropolo, & Ryan Tannehill have been to conference Championship games. & they'll never be making $40M/yr.
But the fact is the contract isn't set in stone.
Pretty sure those guys will make $40 million at some point in the future.Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Jimmy Garropolo, & Ryan Tannehill have been to conference Championship games. & they'll never be making $40M/yr.
You’re confusing correlation & causation. Many a $5M/yr QBs have not won a Super Bowl even though their teams could afford to build around them.Yep but the numbers are what they are and why haven't teams been able to work around that number.

The NFL is changing.
That & they’re still paying QBs like crazy. The only thing lower caps will affect is the leftovers teams are willing to pay everyone else.So I guess you're right with the lower cap the NFL is definitely going to go through change.
I do like his athleticism. More so than most OL.Quinn Meinerz
I WANT this guy!!! Dedicated, hard worker, willing to make adjustments both on and off the field
I would love to see what he could do if he were to replace Martin.
Daniel Jeremiah's top 50 draft prospects rev 2.0 is posted on NFL.com. Nothing eye opening in of itself. But, if you click on the player links, it takes you to that players draft page, including Lance Zierlein's analysis. I don't think his entire 2021 writeups have been posted, though. Here are some of the QB player pages.
Trevor Lawrence - 7.40 grade - no comp
Trey Lance - 6.45 grade - Deshaun Watson comp
Zach Wilson - 6.43 grade - Jake Plummer comp
Justin Fields - 6.42 grade - Dak Prescott comp
A 7.40 grade comes out as a potential perennial All Pro. What QB got that grade recently? In contrast, Herbert had a 6.45 coming out last year. They cant comp Lawrence? Why? I will give you a comp in the pre draft process, Herbert if he develops.
My bad, there is a Mac Jones writeup. They forgot 1 guy, Mac Jones- Better Tua (Ask Devontae Smith), ceiling Burrow had.

Mac Jones - 6.28 draft grade - AJ McCarron comp
Mac Jones just became @thunderkyss favorite prospect.
Never a DJ fan. Had 3 scouting jobs, never lasted more than 2 years at each job. Always funny when Mayock would get frustrated and admonish DJ for being dumb. The write ups are from Lance Zierlein, not Jeremiah.
I've no problem with the writeups/analysis, the rankings, where they are slotted (Jeremiah) there are some head scratchers. The write ups are from Lance Zierlein, not Jeremiah.
