did anybody catch this interview? was there anything of substance? was there anything that wasn't of substance but would still warrant mentioning for those of us who are so football deprived that anything is news?

Thanks for your support!
I heard the last part of it, too, where Schaub was talking about protection. I like his interviews, because he really talks about the X's & O's of football.
He said protection goes beyond just the line, and is also the responsibility of the backs, TE, and WRs, as well. More importantly, the QB has the biggest roll, simply because he needs to recognize threats and make adjustments accordingly, and specifically, don't set up the o-line to fail. He added that once protection does break down, the QB's job is to get rid of the ball with intelligent decisions.
All in all, the little that I heard makes me even more confident that MS is going to be a good QB for us. While I'm not certain how much FUN he's having, I am certain that he is dedicated to the game and has a deep understanding and desire to learn as much as he can to translate on the field.
Did you think that he was trying to cover for his guys after some of the things that were said ?

That sounds familar....

Over the course of the past few seasons I think All of the positions above had as much to do with the break downs in pass protection as did the O-line . When was the last time you saw a Texans reciever break off a route and come back to the ball to give the QB a target ? How many times did the backs miss blitz assignments ? How many times did the QB sack himself (UGH !)?

I love having fun.

Is 790 the same as 97.5 FM?
They're both ESPN stations.It's 790 AM
I don't think they're the same...
They're both ESPN stations.
What puff piece... all it lacks is some kisses and hugs. Next time explain what is Hardcore practice with deep study.
Intense film study and extra off-season workouts with his recievers, to start off. Something your loverboy never seemed to grasp.
Dave admitted in a recent interview that he never picked up a football before June. Well, not until he got to Carolina anyway.
do you have a link to that interview? i'm not surprised if that was the case though. you have to constantly hone your skills if you are going to get anywhere in professional sports. you can take the training down a notch in the offseason but you still have to keep your game tight and improve.
from what I have heard about Schaub this offseason, he has already been working WITH his teammates in the offseason on routes and timing and this was WAY BEFORE June. Hopefully that is a good omen for next year.
This season is shaping up to be a great season with tons of subplots and rivalries around the league.
They're both ESPN stations.
I guess so. Hardcore, now it's intense... is there a sale on adjectives that I don't know about? Deep study... wow. That sounds so Greenie like, Is there trouble on the Mike & Mike show. Slow down with all phony hype, at least until he plays his 1st game. eh?

Tsk, Tsk, some reply... All you got Greenie is to label me as a hater on the Schaubie. When the most I've wrote is the jury is still out without a down being played by him yet. Gee, talk about a weak response. But it is off-season so I'll over-look it.
I'm familiar with the term pompous. Along with name labeling is all you brought to the table. So lets' end this.

Great post... Besides being totally incorrect. Ya did good. X-tru, there is so much info on me here, if you took the time to inform yourself, that you wouldn't sound so uninformed.
It should be noted that caddy is one of the few posters in this thread who hasn't mentioned Carr.If you aren't Carr's father, you should be locked up. I can understand a little manlovin for a favorite player, but in your case we're looking at psychological obsession. Scary!

Well, if you, caddy, or anyone else feel the need to pontificate on David Carr, maybe you should take it to the NFL forum. It's pretty sad that Matt Schaub can't even get the most mentions in a thread concerning him.Things that are understood don't need to be explained.

I think we can make a better effort. I don't see why the mere mention of Schaub allows carte blanche DC spewage. There's plenty on Schaub to discuss. His experience in the WCO. His preseason and regular season success. As well as the concerns regarding Matt's limited snaps. There's plenty to discuss, if there's a will to do so.It's sad but it's true. It's going to take a while and some therapy, to get Carr out of our systems.
Kubiak knows QB's and Schaub has played within this system since his college days. Moreover, the positive comments coming from his team mates having to do with the small things are refreshing.
We have gone from the definition of insanity at the QB position to one that holds some uncertainty, but not as mush as year's past. Anyone that thinks we are worse off with Schaub has not been watching Texans' football for the last five years. The baby and the bath water are gone.
It's funny that a thread about Schaub on 790am spins into a DC thread.
Just like VY or RB, DC is not a Texan and let's move on, shall we?
Wario's sig said:I'm glad Reggie Bush is not a Texan.

Kinda' funny that you would say that (re: moving on) when your sig brings up RB every time you post.
What? The thread turned into a DC thread and it was a Schaub thread.
Ugh, time to change my sig I guess........
heh, maybe we should start a DC thread to see if it morphs into a Shaub thread.
wait, on second thought, maybe that's not such a good idea.
Well said. I'm as ready to move on as the next guy. The season can't get here soon enough!
