Thanks for your support!

Hindsight is 20/20

Especially when your name happens to be Jim Rome. I have never seen a bigger flip flopper htan when Rome just demonstrated on his show. He closed off talking about Vince Young and saying, "How did that taste Texans fans?" Then he said about how none of hte concerns for Young coming mattered and he always knew that. This coming from the same guy who DID make a huge deal over the IQ test, and DID make a huge deal over the delivery, and DID advocate the picking of Matt over Vince back in the draft.

Seriously though I would probably be banned if I used some of the words I wanted to right now after seeing that. I've always hated Rome and I know ESPN is just looking for any excuse to say that we suck and Mario is trash, but what Rome just did was totally uncalled for. He trashed the fans, the organization, and the state. "How do they miss so badly on the chance for Vince? or Reggie? or Matt? or any of the other big players. Oh but it's okay becuase Mario had 3 tackles that game, that's what I'd expect from a number 1 pick too." It seriously made me sick to my stomach. Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, but it was one of the worst things I've seen on ESPN since the draft.

I know that most anaylsits at ESPN just look for ways to insult Houston either as a team or how they drafted, but they over look the rest of our draft and the fac that Mario is hurt. I know they aren't expected to know everything and formulate an oppinion that way, that would be fair. But Rome sounded like he just watches ESPN and judges solely from the coverage they give. Trash reciteing trash = Moronic babbling.

What did you expect? Being a Rockets fan, look at how they treat Yao. NOBODY and I mean NOBODY thought Yao would even be decent. They all thought he would be the next stiff. After years of proving them wrong, he still gets ZERO respect. I wouldn't worry about too much the media.

Dude, I have met Jim Rome. He is a huge *******. He is exactly like he is on his show when just talking to people.

When Jim Rome comes on ESPN I am sure they lose 100,000s of viewers.

I change it every single time before he can even finish talking about his first subject.

Seriously if I want to listen to "real" sports talk then I'll listen to the morning and afternoon crews on 610 or 790, I only listen to Rome when I want to laugh....I advise you guys not to take the guy seriously.

I try not to take Jim Rome seriously, but when he says things like that I just get upset.

Not to mention how PTI did the Texans once again today. They talked about Kubiak calling the draft a success, acknowledged that most people only look at number 1 picks when looking at the draft instead of evaluating the depth, and then deleiberately ignored the depth of our draft right there.

I have a bad feeling if DeMeco wins Defensive Rookie of the Year, which he should, unless Hester gets up for that categorey since he is a defender I think and since he's all over the ESPN shows he'll get it, that they'll either use Meco's award for one of two things.

1. As a joke and say "Well Houston got what they wanted, a Defensive Rookie of the Year. But it's not Mario Williams. HORRIBLE PICK!!!!!111!!11!"

or 2. Simply ignore him and say "DeMarcus who? Ware? Doesn't he play for Dallas and he was a rookie last year right? Are you sure this guy wasn't made up? I thought that Houston only had one player on their whole defense, the God awful Mario Williams. HORRIBLE PICK!!!!!111!!11!"

And yes DeMeco was spelled wrong in number 2 on purpose.

The media just likes to rip on the bad teams, that's all. Anyone remember the Bungles of the '90's? I remember a time in which they ripped on Cincinnati for a long time for having a game won and fumbling the kneeldown and somehow losing the game. Granted, you deserve to be made fun of for that, but still.

This just shows that hardly anyone in the media watches the bad teams because its "not fun" to watch the teams that are hot. If he knew what he was talking about, he'd know that Mario has a foot injury but still continues to play. Reggie Bush didn't do anything when he had an injury either, but does that matter? Nah...he was just a great player that was paid $50+ million to pretend that he was going to catch the ball...

I don't know why people take Jim seriously....I actually like Rome, dude just entertains me.

Exactly.... He uses news items like this weekend to :stirpot: and get people from different towns to crack on each other... If you understand the show, his sense of humor and don't take it seriously, he is pretty entertaining...

That's fine, but I can't help but feel that he takes himself 100% seriously. I can't stand hypocrites like him. It's fine to switch how you feel if you even acknowledge that you felt differently before, but he jumps from one extreme to another all the time.

if It weren't for injuries, they could bash 31 other teams for not picking Colston.. he would have been hands down offensive ROY until he got hurt IMO

I agree too. He's shown that he's an excellent player when he's healthy. I'm sure he's still in contention, but the injury will probably hold him back, plus the recent VY successes and RB successes. It's all about what have you dont for me lately? I'm kind of pulling for Jones-Drew though. Or VY, but let it be known my allegience lies with Houston, not VY.

I honestly wouldnt be surprised if they gave Hester the DROY so that golden boy Bush or Young could get the OROY.

If you think that Rome takes himself 100% seriously, you don't get the show at all. In fact, it is closer to he rarely takes himself seriously than anything else.

he's entertaining, but he repeats jokes far too often for my tastes.
it's funny to hear such 'hard-edged' commentary coming out of a goatee'd shrimp who once got his bell rung by a female tennis player masquerading as an NFL quarterback.

the best moment all time on the Jim Rome show was the Evel Kneivil bit. "do you know who i am?"

Jime Rome flip-flop? No way!

I thought his show was a comedy show. I didnt know he was trying to be serious.

I agree. And sometimes he takes a break from talking about himself and his clones that he'll mix in some sports takes.

I've heard some pretty funny stuff on there that actually made me laugh out loud while driving. His 'special moment' about his son telling him that he didn't want to play soccer and hated it was classic. Rome acting like he's tearing up and getting all mushy, funny stuff.

If you want to laugh at Rome, watch "Any Given Sunday" for the Jim Rose character for kicks. Rome has hated Oliver Stone ever since.
