Let's Put Our Differences Aside And Cheer For Carr

Seriously, it's for the good of the team's future.

I don't know if you guys have seen the movie Funny Farm with Chevy Chase. If you haven't, you're missing out because it's a classic. Anyway, the plot to the story is that Chevy and his wife are breaking up and need to sell their house. To help speed up the process they tell everyone in the town that they will pay them $50 to be nice to anyone that comes to see their house. The theory is that the potential buyers will fall in love with the house and their neighbors, etc.

Over these last 4 weeks we need to pull together and stop bashing Carr in print, on the radio and especially in the stadium. Let's make every other NFL franchise believe that we love him and that he is great. Maybe Mr. McNair will discount our season tickets next year as an incentive. It could mean the difference between a 6th round and 3rd round pick.
 
I think most of us have been cheering for Carr to do well despite what we may think of his ceiling....welcome to being a Texans fan.

Oh! Now I've seen it all,Wonger wants to be nice to Carr. I think it's a great idea,it will be like Jim Carey in Liar Liar. It will kill Wonger!
 
im not gunna be nice to the guy because i dont think this is his last year. theyre gunna shove him down our throats next year too.

Shouldn't we cheer for the Texans. Carr isn't any bigger or smaller than the team. I liked the return of Mathis as it added another dimension to this team. I could say as so goes AJ so goes the team. We could say that of almost any player. I hope this coaching staff and team can put a good game together against the Titans. I would like to see a well played game where there is a looser, but no one gets embarrassed.

I spouted the party line when this season began but eventually had enough of that. Just because some of us think Carr sucks doesnt mean we are any less of a fan than one who still thinks Carr is good and blames his problems on all the other players.

Just my 2 cents. Don't count on McNair lowering prices any to the 'loyal' fans. To the contrary, expect ticket prices to escalate to compensate for his revenue streams lowering in other areas (jersey sales, loss and depreciation of corporate sponsorships, season ticket base, increasing number of noshows, etc.) Those factors coupled with a lot of leveraged/borrowed money from purchase of Texans will guarantee prices wont go down at all.

If we cheer extra loud for Carr, McNair will think he's a fan favorite and he should get another year to prove himself.

I've never booed the dude. I'll criticize (and praise when possible) his play on the forum, but when it's gametime, it's on! I always root for whoever is playing in a Texans uni.

What's wrong with the platinum lot? I liked it over there but was tired of hauling all of my stuff to the RV section of the blue lot.
 
I have been clammering for Capers and Carr to be gone since mid-season 2004. It was the only reason that I signed up for this board. If that makes me Satan or less of a fan, so be it. I guarantee that I spend at least as much money and time (probably more than most) as any of you on this team. I cheer as loud as anyone on Sunday when the defense is on the field and try just as hard to quiet the tools making noise when we have the ball on offense.

I hate to say "I told ya so" but I told ya so. Mr. McNair chose to hold onto Capers and Carr for too long and it has severely retarded the growth of this team. I have a lot of admiration for Mr. McNair and this organization but at some point they have to wake up and put winning ahead of politics and pride.

Nothing it just isn't worth any extra money but that was my choice - no hard feelings. I will say to anyone considering it be sure you roll up in a golf cart or a 3 series at most. Those spots are tight.

The 7-9 season where they were pathetic in the second half of the season. They regressed tremendously after the Denver game. Remember the comments by Jamie Sharper, Gary Walker, etc. It's a misperception that the wheels fell off because of the Cleveland game, but it all started that day in Denver. And that was the game that Carr really started to regress and hasn't looked back since.

That season was a strange one. We were 5 big plays away from being an easy 11-5 that year as well as 5 negative big plays away from being 3-13.

I am with you that there were signs the emperor had no clothes the entire 7-9 season. Remember that we only beat 5 different teams that year....4 of the 7 wins were against JVille and Titans.

We need to remember that our only non-division wins that year were against a horrible 5-11 Chicago, a totally inept 5-11 Oakland, and an underachieving 7-9 Kansas City in my favorite Texans game in history 24-21 (man that was a great catch by AJ and it validated our selection of him imho). As a franchise we have yet to have a worthwhile signature win....and beating a hapless downtrodden Cowboys team led by Quincy Carter does not qualify as 'signature' imho

I personally think once we got rid of A.Glenn and J.Sharper we lost our heart and leadership as a team. Were they perfect? No. But they earned their keep and had the inate desire to win. Once they were shown the door we have had no real identity and direction....and my belief in the franchise has faded ever since and was only compounded by some of the moves made as well as not made this past offseason.

Long time reader – first time blogger…

I should probably tell you that I am not really qualified to reply to this blog – I mean, I am not even from these parts (where I am from, Football is played with a round ball and you use your foot to kick it….need I say more).

The first ever NFL game I watched live on TV via Satellite (in the middle of the night) was in 1989 when the 49’ers beat the Bronco’s….hence I am forever a 49’ers fan...(Sorry)

However I moved to Houston in 2000 and have been a Houston Texans Season Ticket Holder since day one!!!! :mario3:

I was at my first ever real Away Game on Sunday at McAfee Stadium – that is, beside New Orleans in 2002 when we beat the Saints in the preseason…..back then, you could hear more Texans fans in the Superdome than Saints fans…ah well, all but a distant memory.:brickwall

Being close to the Black Hole on Sunday was truly an experience that I wish all Texans fans could experience. I would therefore like to share some of the observations I made during the game.

- Our cheerleaders are WAY better looking……!
- Sapp was allowed to “Mark his Territory” when he first ran on to the field.
- By running the entire Yard Line where is Defense were to meet the Texans offense for the first time – he managed to ignite the entire stadium…..
- Their Place Kicker SUCKS…..(and we won because of that….honestly)
- You think the Texans have had a bad season, imagine being a Raiders fan right now…… Yet they all show up no matter what!!!!!!
- Our “Offense” was…..sorry can’t really find a word that will fit.:crying:
- Our Defense and Special Team really stepped up and won the game for us. BIG TIME. :cowboy1:
- The entire stadium gets loud when the opponent has the ball (before and during the huddle)

What I am trying to get at is this; The Aggies has their 12th Man – Seattle Seahawks has their 12th Man – The Frozen Tundra in Green Bay has their Die Hard fans no matter how bad the Packers perform – the Jets, have you ever tried getting tickets for a Jets game, forget it, no matter how the team perform….the list goes on and on

The bottom line is – if you are a True Texans Fan, you will:

1) Show up this Sunday and be LOUD (apart from when your own darn offense is on the field…!!)
2) Boo whenever The Devil’s Minion has the ball (VY in case you missed it)
3) No matter the outcome ….Cheer…”Lets go Texans” when the team leaves the field at half time
4) No matter the outcome ….Cheer…”Lets go Texans” when the game is over…why?

YOUR TEAM NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!!!

Ask yourself: What should come first; Wins? – or the 12th Man feeling amongst the fans???

Imagine what could happen to this team if the entire stadium was filled every home game – and the fans encouraging the team no matter the outcome…Utopia you say, well…all it takes is 12 Men/Women…right?
 
You don't have to cheer for him, cheer for your team. To cheer for the other team, in this case the Titans, is ludicrous. Who does that? Why waste your money. Go spend it on something you enjoy.

There are 52 guys on that field that need our help. Don't let them all down just because of how you feel about one. David doesn't win or lose games all by himself.

Honestly, all you people who like to bring cute little signs about how Carr sucks: get a life. I know that when i go to a game, i may not like individual players' performances, but I never have, and never will boo my own team. If they start to suck, all the more reason to give them a little 12th man pick-me-up. Besides, its tough to come home horse from booing!

yeah, true...I was still a young, optimistic Texans fan in those days...not like the old, bitter fan of today. ;)

You definitely called it if you felt that way. I never saw it coming at that point.

IIRC, we started playing more teams that played the Cover 2 and teams began to double AJ. You might as well ask David Carr to play RB under those circumstances. Even though I'm a hater, I don't blame him. I wouldn't want to throw passes to Cory Bradford either.

Just cheer for the team,if the team does well cheer. If Carr plays well cheer his play. If he doesn't play well then STFU and wait for something to cheer about "DeMeco and Mario meeting in the middle with VY in between(squish)". That will make me cheer till my throats raw.

If I remember correctly, Chevy & his wife stay together and keep the house.

I think this is true generally. It's okay to criticize a guy's performance -- though I tire of the caliber of some of the analysis I read -- but bottom line I am a Texans fan and as such I support whoever wears our uniform.

I can think of nothing more shameful than a Titans loss this weekend, but a very close second would be for the Vince faithful to "outcheer" the Texans' fans this Sunday. As a former athlete (actually I suspect most of us here are former athletes) I can appreciate what a difference an enthusiastic crowd backing your every step makes.

Let's back our team and celebrate a hard-fought home win against our greatest rival!

I think Carr is as close to rock-bottom with the fans as he'll ever be right now, and with the invasion of VY/Titan toolsheds recently I cannot help but root for the guy to have a career day. My position on Carr has not been one of ambiguity but right now I am his biggest fan. I will have my Carr jersey on tomorrow rather than my AJ jersey which I had originally planned to wear. I will join the OP and the like and root for Carr!
 
I will do my part early in the game. I suggest all Texan players recipocate the effort to continue the fans appropriate response the rest of the game.

Man that is wrong. There are alot of fans here from Tenn and even they aren't as harsh as to say they want someone to get hurt, much less a career ending injury.
