Looking ahead to Indianapolis Colts:

gtexan02

Working?
I'd like to compare them to the Colts:

QB: Indy
RB: Eagles
WRs: Indy by a long shot
OL: Indy
DL: Push. Although Indy's DL is much younger, and probably better at pass rush
LB: Indy again
Secondary: Push I guess

Is anyone else very nervous about this? We are up for a VERY rough week. Indy's OL is better, their QB is better, and their WR corps is better than the Iggles. Imagine what Payton will do with 8 seconds in the pocket. Ouch

Mathis is going to have a field day!

But our D played Manning well last time so lets hope! I remember one year they had to make a last 1:00 comeback to beat us. I'll have hope but Im not fooling myself.

We are going to get torched by 30 if we play like we did today. Philly has one legit receiver; Indy has 3 + a solid TE.....do the math

We got torched because of Phillies RBs(and of course our abysmal pass rush, but I thought I'd add something new to the debate), few people on this board gave Westbrook any credit, even fewer gave Buckhalter any credit.

Yeah, Philly was good. Also, I think you can make a pretty good case the Philly's O-line is better then Indy's, especially in run blocking. I think we could be able to take away the run and focus on Peyton. Lets see how the Giants play them and if they have any success

What I think killed us was Philly's ground game. Can Indy do that without Edge? I was actually moer worried about Philly than I am about Indy.

Are you on crack? You think Indy has a better offensive and defensive line, better Linebackers and the secondary is a push? Dude, you need to wake up, and quit posting dumb comments.

Quick, name me any two starters for the colts in their secondary? I know who Brian Dawkins, Michael Lewis and Lito Shepard are. Who is in the Colts secondary?

The Colts are good because they run their system to perfection, and they have a QB who knows how to exploit defenses. The Colts defense is "good" because the Colts offense makes the other team one dimensional.

If our D is aggressive I think we will look much better against the Colts. I hope that Smith called contain so many times, because he didn't want to let McNabb out of the pocket, but Manning is less mobile so I am hoping, more like on my knees praying that he will be fearless and let our guys pin their ears back and take the chance. Make Manning at least work for his passes.

I'm inclined to think that was it, remember earlier in the week the defensive players said that they had to practice for Donovan McNabb differently because they needed to contain him.

Hahaha are you kidding me?

Freeney and Mathis are pass rushing animals! Corey Simon was great laast year too.

Bob Sanders and Michael Doss are maybe the best Safety combination in the league, their DBs aren't bad, and June, their LB, was also a monster.

They had 3 players selected to the 2005 probowl on defense. You wake up.

Calm down, he's allowed his opinion, no matter how wrong it might be.

Note: There is no such thing as a wrong opinion, its just a joke.

The Colts are a better team offensively than the Eagles, they are strong on D too but not as strong as the Eagles D is IMO. The Texans traditionally play poorly over the stretch against the Colts, and the Broncos haven't faired too well against them in the recent past either. I think the Colts will take this one convincingly, although our run game will look modestly better. The crying over MW will get worse before it gets better, IMO.

I will give you that Freeney and Mathis were great pass rushers last year. But the Colts picked up Corey Simon from who? Anyone? That's right, the Eagles, and the last time I checked, the Eagles aren't to bad at pass rushing themselves. They just had a lot of injuries last year.

Sanders and Doss the best Safety combination in the league? No way are they better than Dawkins and Lewis of the Eagles. The Redskins and Steelers also have better Safties, just to name a few. Add to that the fact that the Eagles secondary is so good it allows them to blitz like crazy.

Maybe you just need a new team? And that goes for the rest of the naysayers...leave please, I love my koolaid and rose colored glasses, and I don't apologize to anyone for being a Homer....just find a team that pleases ya, cause apparently this one ain't gonna cut it for ya...have a nice day :)

P.S. We didn't suck today. :wild:

I still believe that the Texans intentionally played poorly in the 2nd half just so everyone can be surprised when we whoop the Colts next week! :superman:

If we except what is put on the field, then this franchise will be no better than the perenial losers like the Saints, Lions and Browns. I WANT this team to do better

And posting your opinion on a message board is gonna accomplish that? I thought you had to own a team, coach or play on the team to actually effect the play on the field. My bad :)

I see myself as a pretty balanced person. I don't normally see one Sunday's performance and then think that it's necessarily going to carry over to the next week.

But.........it will in this case.

We're gonna' be 0-2 by this time next Sunday. Count on it.

I 100% agree with what others are saying: Peyton and his guys are a lot more efficient (surgical, actually) than Mcnabb. McNabb and his crew take several attempts to actually pull off a big play. Indy does it every other play, or so it seems.

0-2.

And "Yes" I love this team. But "No" I refuse to be so much of a homer that I can't see what's going to happen next Sunday.

It gonna' be u-g-l-y.

yeah plus if manning throws for five touchdowns and we never stop him, ill have to hear about how its DC's fault all over again

i can handle the truth, your just annoying, going to everythread and sayin nothing positive, cant even read a postive thread without people like you tearin it down right away

Next week is going to be painful. I expect even a more lopsided score. Something along the lines of 35 to 13. If we give Peyton the time we gave McNabb he is going to methodically pick apart our very weak secondary and have a near career game.

I think once again Carr's stats will be good, we will have a better running game and Carr will be sacked around 4+ times. We will be so far behind by the end of the third quarter that the Colt's defense will just pin their ears back and blitz for the rest of the game. Carr will be constantly flushed out of the pocket and sacked. The running game will be gone because we have to pass to try to win. It will be interesting to see what Kubiak does when we are down by three touchdowns. Will he still try to run, or will he get pass whacky and try to win?

Lundy should have a much better game in the first quarter before things get out of hand. The Colt's run defense was exposed yesterday and their running game isn't very good.

I think Mario will have no sacks, and even fewer tackles since they won't need to run much at all. The Colt's offensive line has consistently been one of the best in the league and our front four looked like a bunch of second stringers yesterday.

It's going to be a long game.

BTW, I'm still a big Texans fan, and hope beyond hope they can win.

the one thing i wanna see in next weeks game is to see how spencer handles freeny, you would think that spencer will be watchin alot of film from the brother bowl on how to stop big dwight, i think we will do better vs the colts, now we have some new film to watch unlike yesterdays game

What was positive about yesterday. We gave up 441 yards of offense; 5 sacks and 24 points. Oh yeah.....we also could not run the ball.

We were pathetic

No, but its nice as a fan to be able to vent after a pathetic performance

something positive

the improvement of david carr
DeMeco Ryans all over the field

"contain McNabb".......... that doesn't sound like the aggressive defense we were promised. May have seemd like a good game plan to Smith a few days ago, but I bet it sure doesn't now.

I would have rather seen our guys get burned on the blitz a few times than give McNabb enough time to email his ball to the receiver.

Freeney and Mathis are pass rushing animals!

I don't think they will blitz as much as the Eagles though. I bet GK and Sherman will be tough on the O-line and the RB's this week. The backs have to deal with the blitz, and DC has got to recognize it presnap. Anyway, I look forward to playing the Colts. I think we will see improvement. Do I think we will win? I think to expect to is a little unrealistic, but I sure hope we do.
OK, I know I'm gonna get blasted for this, but I think the Eagles can beat the Colts. They are a more complete team. Better Run D puts them over the top IMO. Also, keep in mind that if we could have run the ball at all yesterday it certainly would have helped in our efforts. Let's hope that we continue to build on our improvements that we made, and let's establish a running game against the Colts. Contain there backs, and put some pressure on Peyton. We can't expect our guys to cover their receivers for 6 seconds.
