See that main picture for the main story? If you can't, its a very large picture of Jerry Jones and Bob McNair pointing to something, and the caption reads, "Jerry Jones, left, and other owners have no desire to expand"

What the heck??? Its just JJ and McNair, and you can't even mention who McNair is?? This is getting ridiculous.

PS: I know this thread is sort of silly, but hey, I'm venting and thanks for listening
 
Maybe they confused Bob with Malcolm McDowell.

It's always been like that when it comes to pro teams in H-town.The media doesn't like Houston for some reason.Unless they can report something bad or a Houston team getting beat bad or setting something like a sack record. PS:I guess I'm venting also.
 
Houston is a working town, so the media usually doesnt get too many ratings reporting about it unless there is negative news about it. Well thats what I would like to think anyways.
 
I guess they decided not to use his name since he's wearing a vest with a Texan's logo and his team has been the center of attention with the NFL Draft and all for the past couple of months.
 
WHO CARES!!!

Almost every NFL fan in America knows who Jerry Jones is... in comparison, very few know who McNair is. It wasn't in insult to McNair, when McNair opens his mouth no one cares when Jones does people do.

I doubt anyone is saying to themselves, who is the bald guy with Jerry? Then searching for who it is on the net.

In addition, the web nerd that wrote that likely wasn't thinking I hate the Texans, McNair dosen't get a mention here.

I saw that to and IMO it was an obvious and therefor curious ommisson of an owners names who has become very prominent in his relatively short time on the NFL scene.

What's interesting though from another thread on this board - looks like he doesn't think it's the Vikings in the possible location, but does have the Jags.

The Chargers would like to work out something in San Diego county, and they still have time to do it. Saints fans purchased more than 55,000 season tickets, and that type of commitment from the fans keeps the idea of staying in New Orleans alive in the short term. Bills owner Ralph Wilson has conveyed long-term concerns about football in Western New York although he will never move the team. Wayne Weaver is trying to make things work in Jacksonville in what is considered a tight market.

It's unfortunate for whatever city gets it taken away, been there and it's not pretty.
 
It's up the Texans and the way they perform to get national attention, and even then don't expect too much from the east coast bias capital of the world.

Lets give'em some-then to talk about.

When the article was 1st posted and it wasn't a feature, McNair's name was mention 1st and then Jerry's. It was only after becoming the feature that McNair's name was removed.
 
I don't buy it. For months, the talk of everyone was Houston, from the Bush Bowl, to the National Championship, to the signing of Carr, up to the draft, the drafting of Williams, and the aftermath of not selecting Bush.

What has really changed in my mind is that the most marketable, exciting player to come out of college football is in New Orleans now (No, VY was not traded to New Orleans). And everyone wants to know how will they use Reggie.

Since Mario isn't as marketable and recognizable of a figure nationally, the team must bounce back from 2-14 to get the attention, which I believe we will. We will be talked about as one of the best turnaround teams from last year.

I have heard other pro players (Patrick Ramsey) talking about the Texans as one of the biggest surprises for people this year. Mario Williams was just on with Trey Wingo on ESPN the other day.

A 2-14 team doesn't deserve any expsoure nationally, 'what have they done to earn it?', many will ask. Considering the non-factor we were last year in the NFL, I think we are getting much better coverage this off season than last offseason from a national perspective.
 
That is pretty ridiculous ... it's not like Bob McNair doesn't have money and a team all his own.
 
You have to remember that the NFL, ESPN, and other media didn't even want this team in Houston in the first place. It was only after LA didn't step to the table, and McNair did that we got the Texans. And we haven't really done anything to help them either, whether it is not signing any problem (good media story) free agents, to drafting Bush (who ESPN thinks is the greatest person since Jesus Christ).

Can we just make this thread a sticky and get it over with?

I love this team, but I am worn out with the "we don't get no respect" gripe that pops up every offseason.

We...don't...deserve...any...more...coverage...than...what...we've...gotten.

I think ESPN has done a remarkable job (recently) of talking about our team, having Mario on NFL Live, and daring to predict that Carr will be a QB to fear in the future.

In addition, NFL Network has covered us very well.

And by the way...that Jacksonville team is so gone, it's not even funny. L.A. Jaguars has a nice ring to it. The only other team that I would be more than giddy about moving to L.A. is the Titans. That would be so awesome.

Jerry Jones draws more attention by press, because they know he would set himself on fire to get media attention. also they know that the Titanic is a 1/4 the size of Jerry's EGO, so they know he has no class and would do anything to put camera on himself.
 
ever since the Rockets punked the Knicks, the Disney Sports Programming Network has hated Houston. I am surprised there isnt an asterisk by our two championships because most morons think if Jordan had played we wouldnt have won...we know that is all BS, but these deluded pasty yankees have such an inferiority complex towards anything Texan other than the Cowboys that we get no love from the hacks in Bristol. Did you hear Trey Wingo interview Mario the other day? I felt sorry for Mario that he had to listen to that putz. I wish Mario would have been in-studio and he could have ripped that smug schmirk off his face....

and dont get me started on that pile of dog excrement called Merrill Hoge...he is still pissed about the Holovak-era Oilers punking his arse annually and shows it all the time...the only thing Hoge likes are Steelers players and whatever the player du jour is for DSPN...Vick, Bush, Peyton, or McNabb or whatever flavor of the month that never wins the big game..that dude needs to get the way of Trev Alberts..I am not saying that Hoge was as bad as Trev but I think a trashbag of stem cells could give better opinions than Trev...

whatever DSPN..keep it up..when Mario goes James Cahn-era Rollerball on Peyton's face, we will have the last laugh...maybe DSPN will mix it in inbetween Yankees v. Red Sox broadcasts....

ESPN is a wholly owned subsidiary of ABC TV, which in turn is a wholly owned sub of Walt Disney Studios, Inc. And Disney is based in LA - that's the Reggie

I don't know. Actually the media doesn't like Houston because our city is a conservative town, and the media is well....liberal. That could explain the Anti-Houston bias in ESPN. The NFL Network usually gives us some respect, so as NBATV which doesn't piss off the Rockets too much (only when they're underachieving). Well you should know that ESPN doesn't just hate Houston they also hate this great state of Texas. The only cities I know that ESPN is pretty much biased towards is San Francisco (they have a backup station over there), and Boston.
 
ESPN created the Reggie Bush hype machine. Where did we hear anyway that he was the next Gale Sayers/Barry Sanders/Marshall Faulk? We heard it on Sportscenter. Over and over and over again. Then we started hearing it on the USC broadcasts over and over and over and over again. We were freakin' crazy for not believing them.

IMO, Kubiak wasn't drinking the Cardinal-colored Kool-Aid. The fact that we're hearing about him wanting RB's who "take one cut and go" is proof of this.
 
they did give us two sunday night games last year.what do we do,get completely embarrased.we need to win....period.i still have hopes of landing a national game in one of the flex weeks this year.and i actually believe we can. trey wingo actually picked us to be a wildcard team last year,but i did miss the mario interview
 
They haven't seen great football here since Warren Moon left. I just saw the Rocket plastered all over ESPN. ESPN tends to cover winning teams and players. NFL Network is covering the Cardinals today.:yahoo: I mean I like some of the feel good stories and the winning isn't everything in sports, but I think most people like to watch a winner.
 
I don't see why anyone outside Houston would care about a team that:

1. Has never had a winning season
2. Has no tradition or true rivalries yet
3. Made a massive mistake with the first overall selection in the eyes of many
4. Doesn't have a face of the franchise yet (a player that other city's fans feel compelled to root for).
 
Anyone else notice how disappointed the people on Baseball Tonight were when Roger Clemens was reportedly coming back to the stros'.

And Peter Gammons said hes going to Boston earlier...so so so biased.

Tim Kirkjan is the best reporter there for anything astros related though.

I dont agree with the Houston = Conservative town cause...its not. They dont like texas cause its considered a conservative state. Although all the best athletes come from texas.
