Texan Football Political Correctness?

First of all, I am no Charlie Casserly fan. However, I find it an interesting study in "tippy toe-ness" for all the blame to be pointed at him for the perceived sub par draft selections. I've seen quotes like, "he's an idiot, "what was he thinking" etc.

Really, is he making these decisions, being the probable lame duck that he is? Why are we not saying the same things, but using Kubiak's name to blame instead.

Are we "tippy toeing"? In denial? Giving the benefit of the doubt? Just wondering?

The General Manager should always be held responsible for good and bad personnel moves. Maybe the coach or owner is pulling his ear, but Casserly's JOB is personnel.

I love the draft. Not everyone is hating on CC here. I think he is a good GM, he has a track record to prove it.

People call it like they see it, but some people have blinkers on or agendas or grudges and can't see the wood for the trees.

...and some have blinders on. he did come in with a great resume, but his track record over the past four years has left much to be desired. i, for one, will be happy to see charlie go. if he needs help packing or air fare, he can call me.

The only pick CC has done that I have serious issues is was the Tony Hollings in the supplemental draft pick. Even then can you bag a guy with a new franchise trying to go out on a limb for a potential home run??

Seeing that the draft was a smart one, I don't know what you are getting at.

Personally, I think they let him go too early. He had injury problems, but that was no reason to cut him loose. We never did find out how he could do if given a real chance. If the Texans decided to carry four RBs, I would have kept him until he proved he just couldn't get it done after given an opportunity.

It's not blinders when you point to Dom Davis, AJ, David Carr and D-Rob and say, "You know, those aren't bad picks at all." All GMs have their successes and their stinkers.

Wait a minute... is that wood for the trees or trees for the wood or forest for the trees or woods without trees in the forest?

I would think that Kubiak and McNair were mainly responsible for the major picks in this draft - especially if they are planning to cut CC loose.

After last season I wasn't sure about CC - but I reckon he's listend to what the new HC has wanted and gone and gotten what he wanted.

Maybe he did that with Capers too.

Anyway I thought it was a good draft, hat off to the FO

Every expert gave us at least a B and Mel Kiper said we tied for the top draft overall. I think that Kubiak and Mike Sherman had a lot to do with this draft and maybe that's why we had a great one. Don't you agree??

This was Kubiak's draft, period.

Just like fiscal years that end on September 30, the NFL scouting year ends after the draft. Casserly and his staff of scouts are finished with their work of building the '06 draft board. Now it's Ferens turn to sign the picks from Ryans on down. There's a little bit of undrafted FA work to be done but that will be based on what's left of the draft board and who Kubiak wants. I have a feeling that Casserly will be resigning (not fired) within two weeks to pursue other interests.

If McNair really was Bud Adams, he would probably use Charley as a scapegoat now, but he won't since McNair's not like that. It would also make McNair look foolish for implying that Mario et al was indeed the work of Casserly and that he was just an innocent bystander with no control. Not.
