Game 6...Time to Romp...Cleveland Browns!

JamTex

Hall Of Fame Texans Fan!
On Sunday, October 15th at 12:00 pm central time, The Houston Texans will take on the Cleveland Browns at home in NRG Stadium. The game will be aired locally in Houston on CBS channel 11.

In the last 3 games, the Texans offense led by Deshaun Watson has amassed 124 points and 1254 total yards and yet has only won 1 of those 3 games. The offense has absolutely come alive under Deshaun Watson. The defense, however, has given up 82 points and 1041 total yards. Considering the differential, it seems the Texans should have won at least 2 if not all 3 of those games.
The reality is that the Texans lost to the Patriots and Chiefs and the lone victory was to the Titans who only accounted for 14 of the total points and 195 of the total yards against the Texans defense.
The rest of those numbers were consumed by the 2 teams that beat our Texans, the 2 best teams in the AFC.
I know it sucks to lose, but this should give us as fans confidence. The Texans offense looks better then it ever has. The defense is having problems, but should improve as the season goes along.
Losing Watt and Mercilus is a really tough blow, but it's time for others to step up.
This game should be a huge confidence booster.
The Cleveland Browns.
They are bad all over the field. Offense, defense and special teams.
The Texans should have a field day against this Browns team.
Deshaun and his offense, Clowney and his defense should just run over the Browns with little resistance.
I'm smelling a huge blow out here.
I would be completely surprised if Watson and the offense didn't score on almost every drive.
Even without Watt and Mercilus, the defense should be able to completely shut down the Browns offense. By the way, DeShone Kizer was pulled from the game against the Jets because of poor play and now it might be Kevin Hogan that has to face our Texans.
Ok. This is going to be a Romp.
It's hard to predict just how bad it'll be for the Browns, so I'll try and be conservative.

Texans 52
Browns 6

Much needed easier opponent right before the bye.

And thanks for mentioning Kizer. Brees was on a bye week and I had to start that MF in my fantasy league. I’m about to cut that guy right mf now.

Edit: damnit I can’t drop his ass yet.

What the team needs to do is fire Vrabel and make Crennell the DC again. But they won't need that against the Browns. Texans 20, Browns 0.

He is a first year DC; give him a chance. RAC is on the verge of retirement and we are going to have to move on to life without him because it is coming sooner than later I believe.

Hue Jackson is considering starting Kevin Hogan for the game. Says he'll make a decision by Wednesday. I really liked Hogan in the 2016 draft, kinda hoped that we'd take him in the later rounds. I think he's got the kind of smarts that will make up for his athletic short comings.

That said, I hope we make him look so bad come Sunday that Hue benches him cause he don't know what else to do.

Even if we win Sunday I am really concerned about the defense going forward. We have been giving up a lot of chunk plays against the pass and now we have lost 2 of our top 3 pass rushers. I never thought that the offense would be the strength of this team.

I'm worried, but not.

The offseason program obviously isn't long enough. Every year it seems we fumble through four to six games just figuring out who the starters are, how we'll play, & the substitutions & rotations.

So we've been going through different personnel groups like crazy. Looked like we had our DBs set, then Kjohns gets hurt. They're trying to figure out who's going to be the DE opposite Jj, now Jj's out.

I think they wanted Scarlett on the field, but couldn't with Clowney & Mercilus... that kinda worked itself out.

Last week looked like we settled on our starting safeties with Gilchrest & Hal.

We're probably not going to be a top 10 defense this year, but if we can efficiently score TDs on offense, we may not need a top 10 defense to contend.

I would like to demote Vrabel but he would probably resign anyway if that happened. Obviously Crennell can't stay forever but I'd like to see him coordinate the D for 1 more year and see what happens when a great defense is combined with an explosive offense.

Time to romp? That's disgusting
Romp the browns? Downright vulgar
Yeah, that's a pretty shitty thing to say. I don't think anyone doubts we win but lets not be dicks about it. Yeah, we gave them picks but they also took Lossweiler off our hands and paid us for it

They lost two of their best players for the season. There is no great defense, even with RAC as the DC.

Speaking of defense........has Treston Decoud seen the field yet?

He was my sleeper pick when chosen..is he still sleeping?

:coffee:

They may be a pretty crappy team, but they are still NFL pro level players and could punch us in the nose if we don't pay attention and play like we can. Having said that, if we play like we can the score should be:

Texans - 30+
Browns - 10 or less

I tried to be conservative with my prediction and give the Browns a few points out of respect. Lol

I'm thinking we win by 10 I'm being conservative on my prediction until I see how the defense plays without Mercilus and Watt.

The Texans are not in a position to discount any opponent and us fans are not in a position to write any opponent off, no matter who they are. Especially after what happened in the last game.

That's not to say we can't---or won't----win. But we're trying to craft our own existence and our own consistency, and as such we're not guaranteed anything.

Really hoping we can get a win to assuage some of the tension and sadness.

Why Kevin Hogan could succeed as Cleveland Browns QB

Summary
  • More years in college matters.
  • Hogan's draft slot in the 5th vs Kizer's in the 2nd is roughly equal to chance of statistical success.
  • Kessler had a style of success that Hogan can better include than Kizer can.
  • Hogan exceeds all metrics which typically result in success: (NEP) metric, # of college starts, passing efficiency, & AY/A. Kizer does not.
  • Hogan's combine #'s reveals he's somewhat more athletic than Kizer, surprisingly.

Did y'all know the Brown's have the 5th ranked total defense? 5th against the run, 19th against the pass.

What are the odds our first play from scrimmage is a run up the middle?

not to mention TK has had a Hogan crush for years

The opposite of what the Steelers did against the Jaguars. One of the worst run defenses in the league? One of the best pass defenses in the league? **** it let's throw all day!

Did y'all know the Browns defense is 23rd in 3rd down conversions, 26th in points, 27th Y/A, DEAD LAST in completion percentage, QB Rating and red zone defense, for an overall defensive efficiency between 27th and 30th, depending on which site you look at?

Next time someone tells you the Browns have the 5th best defense just go ahead and punch them in the throat.
