I can't really argue the point, because Johnson is the type of slot receiver that I believe O'Brien likes, but IMO, he doesn't have quite the skill set that O'Brien wants there.

Agree. Last few years, PR was not successful and although Martin's avg is not so good at 6, he seems to be holding onto the ball which has not always been the case. He is cheap and I have reversed my opinion and have him back..at least until team knows any new guy can do job.

Martin should be taken out back and beaten with a stick. He is the worst damn returner in the history of return men. Seriously, the guy sucks. At least Jacoby would pop one off every now and then making those drops bearable. Martin just flat out sucks. Plus his lack of production as a wide out should have him in the unemployment line soon.
IDK, I don't remember names, but seems we went thru quite a period of suck at PR between Mathis and Jacoby.

I feel like Keyshawn had the better preseason and for some reason didn't get a real shot in the regular season....and then I think that if DJohnson had to be acquired, there has to be a reason for it.
I would like to see us take a strong look at Jaxon Shipley from UT. I'm also curious who hits the FA market that can fill that spot.

It's incredibly nuanced, but I think most of you will be able to understand the finer points of my assessment.

SOTT: DeVier Posey Has No Ill-Will Towards Texans
The three-year period for DeVier Posey with the Houston Texans was filled with promise, disappointment, and unfinished business when all was said and done. Posey arrived to the Texans in 2012 from Ohio State University after only catching 12 passes in his final season. Serving a five game NCAA suspension for selling memorabilia and accepting payment, the Texans still took a chance on Posey in the draft.
“I am forever indebted to (Gary) Kubiak and his staff and the player personnel staff that brought me in the third round,” said Posey in an interview on Sports Talk 790. “Gave me shot to be in the this league. I really appreciate the Houston Texans family for all of that.”
As a rookie, his career took time to get off the ground and Posey made an impact late in the 2012 season during the final four regular season games which saw him haul in 14 receptions, averaging 14.5 yards a catch. In the Divisional Playoff game against the New England Patriots, he provided a spark with three receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown, but that all came a halt when Posey tore his Achilles in the back of the end zone late in that game.
Battling back he worked to return from his injury and was able to make the 53-man roster for the 2013 season, ending the year with 25 receptions for 155 yards.
With the coaching change heading into the 2014 season, Posey had to impress Bill O’Brien and learn an entirely new offensive system. The season did not go as planned, with only one reception on the entire season.
Posey talked about last season, saying, “It was a learning process more than anything.”
Only active for one game the entire year, questions about why he was not playing from week-to-week surrounded Posey. This became an even more pressing question with the lack of production outside of Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins.
Posey did not deny that last season was tough from a football standpoint. “It was a little frustrating,” he remarked.
According to Posey, he learned plenty about himself in the process. “I feel like I learned a sense of professionalism from the things and trials I went thorough here, on how to carry myself and to continue to work my work ethic. How to stay in my box and continue to work on my game.“
Posey also spoke highly of his former head coach, Bill O’Brien. “I appreciate everything Coach O’Brien taught me as a far as third down packages, learning systems. The football that he taught me is probably second to none as far as details; detail in everything, detail in routes, detail in plays.”
He continued, “He (O’Brien) is great coach. He is going to win some games here in Houston. He is going to get the right players in here that he wants. I wish him nothing but luck just like I wish my former teammates and the new Texans nothing but luck.”
The Texans informed Posey prior to the 2015 NFL Draft that they would find a better spot for him on another team while they overhauled the wide receiver group. There seems to be no ill-will for Posey leaving Houston to continue his career with the New York Jets.
“It has been great here in Houston. The fans were great, the people in the city are awesome. All the media people here are respectful and they don’t try and twist your words,” Posey said of his former team. “That was something that I really did appreciate, the life here in Houston.”
