DeVier Posey

Could this guy actually go the entire season without being activated? They picked up Demaris Johnson off waivers, and he's been active every game. I've read rumors that he, either he's lost a step from the Achilles blowout, to being in OB's doghouse, to being no good on special teams.

Just seems like a wasted spot on the Final 53.

I heard Posey looks great catching the ball at practice, Pro Bowl level. He just hasn't learned to be a good teammate yet.

Well, with AJ down, now we get to see why hes's been inactive all this time.

He ruptured his Achilles on January 13, 2013. Doesn't it take more than a year to get close to what you were before the injury? Hell how long did it take DeMeco and he doesn't play a speed position.

He played last year with no visible effects from the achilles injury. I've read that his straight line speed is fine but that he can't make his cuts when running routes. I doubt seriously that he's back next year.

What constitutes being a good teammate? Anybody would be better than Demaris Johnson, who has worse hands than an offensive guard.

So he's the Brian Cushing of our WR corp? I've just mentally removed him from all relevancy now.

Posey is one of those Texans players that belongs on the list of players that TT fans can't stop themselves from having dreams about. This guy hasn't never done squat, other than a play here and there and every time he does all these guys start getting giddy for literally nothing. I have no idea why that guy has been on this team for at least a year now.

Excuse my giddiness... but if AJ is out, and Posey starts... I have a good feeling Posey is going to come up big for us! I want to believe it so much that I'm trying to talk myself into picking him up for the game in fantasy.

Posey will go to another team and be a year in, year out pro bowler. He was doing OK last year. I don't know what he did to get in OB's dog house, but, dayum!!!!!

Posey will certainly see a lot of single coverage. His opportunity will present itself.

Posey still has a year left on his rookie contract. It's possible for him to spend another year on the inactive list.

He will never play for the Texans.

Throughout the offseason/preseason, he was talked about filling the slot. He never really had explosive moves. But after realizing that he has no real cutting abilities left following his Achilles, they are down to whatever he can offer, if anything.

Untimely holding penalties and bench warming. :bravo:

Honestly, I'd still take Posey over what little production we've gotten out of Martin. But obviously the coaches really don't trust either given D. Johnson supplanted them both coming off another team's waivers as the third receiver and he is only average at best.

I wanted to cut Martin also but unless we go get a punt returner this off season, he will be back. His 6.3 avg sucks but let's not forget how we went through PRs last few years with no one to hold the ball. At least Martin does that now and that is big. I have Posey gone unless he miraculously is the PR.

D. Johnson honestly should be doing both punt and kick returns, the only reason I think he isn't is because they really do trust him more as the 3rd receiver and don't want to risk having to rely on either Martin or Posey.

Ah I see another Posey discussion. :htown2atx:

I have laughed and laughed at the endless hype that people have given this guy since he put on a Texans uniform. Are people finally ready to end this dream that Posey is going to be a productive receiver here? Or do we need to go through another year of him making his 3 plays in one game for people to have high hopes again?

He can take his tennis balls and hit the bricks

I guess they will have to hire a Kevin Martin just so we can cut him and make you LOL.

I don't only think Posey won't be cut... but I think he'll be the starting receiver opposite Hopkins next season.

What on earth has Posey shown to make you think he can be a starter for any team?

My reasoning is pretty simple actually. I don't think AJ will be back next season. And when AJ sat out a game, it was Posey that got the start opposite Hopkins. So it's not really that bold of a prediction I'm making.

It would be.incredibly bold (some would supply other words) for OB to get rid of AJ and not replace him in the 1st 2 rounds of the draft.

Even if he does replace AJ w/ someone in the draft, BOB has shown to bring rookies along slowly... especially at receiver, a position players typically take time to adapt to.

I do enjoy seeing people thinking outside the box. I disagree, but it is definitely outside the box.

Is it really that outside of the box? BOB already showed that Posey is the starter opposite Nuk if AJ is not in the game. And with the strong possibility that AJ will not be back next season, Posey is probably the next man up.

Yes it really is that outside the box OR OB is completely incompetent. It makes zero sense to "develop" Posey with any thought to replacing AJ by having him inactive for 15 games. His starting opposite Hopkins was desperation.

Jacoby Jones got starts when AJ went down too (and playing time as a 3rd WR). 10 in 2011, and then was gone in 2012.

Well my optimism may be blinding me here. I still have hope that Posey will be a very good receiver for the Texans.

After one game back, he ended up on the Injury Report for a "calf." After an Achilles tendon rupture repair, it is common for these players when they return to play and again are repetitively stressing the Achilles tendon, to experience chronic unrelenting Achilles inflammation.........which manifests in heel pain (including back of foot).......with the second most common manifestation being calf pain and calf spasm.

Going forth, Posey is NOT a viable choice......... based on post Achilles rupture potential performance and based on potential dependiblity for even staying on the field as a window dressing.

Doc has said posey's injury is likely to keep him from being a valuable player in the past. I tend to go with his medical advice. IDon't even consider him as a viable candidate for this team.

Given Posey's production (lack of) and injury history, it would be probably non-good if he is on the roster in 2015 much less starting. Not meant as a slap against him as a person (as I don't know him).

I don't understand why people are obsessed with this guy. He's never done anything to warrant such desperate optimism. And on top of that, he's previously suffered an injury that seriously jeopardizes his ability to return to whatever form he was in that made him so "attractive" in the first place.

Have you not seen the Keenum threads? This isn't unheard of around here. Desperate optimism goes with being a Texans fan.

Times have changed. I don't see very many of Kubiak's guys staying around this offseason. Especially guys like Posey and Martin that proved very little to nothing.

IMO, AJ, and DeAndre will be the only WR from 2014 on the 2015 depth chart. There will be a house cleaning at that position and probably TE.

100% certainty that we will have a different slot receiver, again IMO.

I think Damaris Johnson will be on the roster next year as well.

Under the expectation that the high roster churn continues going into season 2 of the new coach, it is obvious that Posey is gone.

Keyshawn Martin's status will depend on who wins the punt return job in 2015.
