The Blechsans done us proud today. They secured the rights to a true playmaker. The question is...Will they have the smarts to take him? Or will they do something utterly stupid and trade down for the supposedly smart thing to do?

CC will trade down and take a tweener linebacker and QB NOT named Leinart or Young. THEN declare it the best personnel choices of his career. Bush will go on to break Emmitt Smith's all time rushing record.

Or we'll trade down and fix the rest of our team seeing as how RB and QB arent the only needs we have and arent even close to our biggest needs for that matter.

But the question is are the players we have right know that bad or can it be fixed with proper coaching?????

That's funnier than the 49er fans chanting DEFENSE. It would make sense, but CC and co. haven't shown anything to have than kind of confidence in them. CC has passed on no-brainers and traded away high draft picks for proven losers. Are there some good OL prospects in this years draft?

I like D'angelo Williams

I don't think we are as bad as our record indicates.. I pesonally think the talent we accumulated doesn't match up with the philosophy of the coaching staff.

 Yes, they are that bad! Its not all coaching, our players stink.

You don't take needs with the first pick, you go out and draft the best player available in the country.

I dont know if Casserly has the juevos to NOT draft Bush.. not when everyone in the country is talking about him.

Wharton said:

I do NOT agree! Lots of young raw talent on our team. With good coaching we will be playoff bound in a couple of years, with or without Reggie Bush!

Give it up all you people that want the pick traded, CC has indicated that he will pick President Bush.
I was listening to ESPN radio the other day and John Clayton said that his sources told him that if the Texans ended with the first pick that they would choose Reggie Bush!!!!!!!!!idonno:

Yeah, we're looking reeeeal good at running back right now. Maybe we can overpay to keep Wells around as well. Morency? Franchise written all over him.

:ok:

We have more than enough talent on the team already. We don't need baby bush. DD is more than enough to get the job done at RB, and if he wasn't, it would be better to sign a free agent RB in the off season that is already established. For the millionth time, we need to pick D'Braksaw. We can trade down to get him and another pick so we can get another receiver or linebacker.

THAT is the one hundred thousand dollar question isn't it. What you (or I, or each of us) thinks the answer to that question is will determine what you do with our shiny new number one pick in the draft. We all think some variation of one of the following two things.

1. You think the talent's mostly ok but the coaches are boneheads who can't be fired soon enough means you want to see Reggie Bush in a Texans uniform. There's no need to try and assemble a swarm of draft picks since we only have a (relative) few serious needs. Your favorite sentence is now "Remember, we have seven more picks after we take Reggie and three more on the first day!"

2. You think the talent's mostly absent and and both the GM and coaches are boneheads who can't be fired soon enough means you want to see the team trade the rights to Reggie Bush to someone else and try to fill as many holes on this team as possible. Your favorite sentence is now "Running back is the least of our worries right now!"

What game were you watching today?

I agree, we will be playoff bound in a couple of years, but not with these guys. By the start of the 2008 season, 85% of these player will no longer be Texans or we will still be a cellar dweller.

I've been on the fence regarding Reggie Bush but now I'm firmly in the "draft Bush" camp...to trade down you need to get equal value in return and I firmly believe that there is NO one who has the talent of Reggie Bush in this year's draft.

Bad Bush

If anybody say much talent on the field today, you must have been watching the Eagles/Skins game. We are horrible on defense and outside of Andre (and DD when healthy) on offense, we are a stagnant bunch. Very little talent outside of those named and Mathis.

Ki'Jana Carter = Reggie Bush??? We shall see.

Interesting. Didn't Ki'Jana Carter run like Bush when he was in college?

Somebody needs to dig it up.

He just had the hype, everyone thought he was the next best thing to sliced bread. He didn't do bad in college, was runner up on heisman.

Somebody else posted it on this board earlier, and I agree with this statement.

Reggie Bush can not live up to this hype. There is no way to go but down.

I don't believe so, but Carter did blow out his knee which killed his career. There's always the chance that will happen when selecting a RB.

i will drink to that

You all are so funny. You think we will take Bush when we could get a boco for him. It aint happening. Pray about it, cry about it, what ever you wish, we aint drafting him. We will act like we are to the point of them calling our name, and then we will take the best deal on the table probably getting us two first round picks (high pick this year), two seconds, and probably a fourth this year too. Hate to ruin your mojo, but that is the way it is going to fall.

BTW folks.. Bush hasnt even declared. I would roll laughing at each one of you IF he goes back to school for another year. Seriously..

One last thing, one player dont make the team. Barry Sanders, the best RB ever, only had three plays. Barry to the right, Barry to the left, and Barry up the middle. There is a reason he retired early. He had no supporting cast. Now you want to put Reggie behind a horrible line. You all are not thinking right. You need to rethink your thought.

That is exactly the point. Because of this, teams will give huge to get him, just to come close. I see several teams giving insaine deals to get him.

Hehe, and after today's game, he may just stay in school!

Wharton said:

He's not going to stay in school after watching his team mate lose all that money and hype (to him, lol) and knowing that his team will drop off next year. He couldn't possible gain anything from waiting another year and there's no way at all right now for him to actually know what team he will end up with. Toooooooooo many trade possibilities.

Someone said the same thing about LeBron James. Some people in this world can live up to and surpass the hype. Hopefully IF we draft Reggie, he can be this type of player. Thats why there's a draft, for possibilities.

I agree.. he would be insaine to stay in school, but you know, people have dont more insaine things then that.

I hope your right about Reggie and the comparison to LeBron.

Also, the stay in school thing was a :jk: , get a life yall! Geeez.

Its been said, but what do we do with DD if we draft Bush? He is paid too much to be a 3rd down back, and trading him would not be good for the cap.

Of course we looked bad with out Andre Johnson, David Carr, Domanick Davis, Jonathan Wells, Gary Walker, and every other good player who was either injured or sick.

AJ is pretty good, I'll give you that but DC couldn't find his butt with both hands, DD is a third down back, Wells is a second stringer, and Gary Walker is hurt all the time. Anybody else you want to bring up!

You don't get to 2-14 with just bad coaching! And, yes the coaching was horrid.

Wake up and smell the manure!

Does Casserly or McNair want to be responsible for the Houston riot of April 29, 2006 if they don't draft Bush? I don't think so. They will do the smart thing and pick Reggie.

hi,
im a texans fan that doesn't live in houston. i used to live in houston about 5 years ago, so ill forever love all houston sports, regardless of how ****ty they may be.

i now live near washington, dc, so i have a love for any DC teams too. and thank god for that, after the heartbreaking performance of the astros in the world series allowing the cheating white sox to steal every game by bribing officials, in addition to this embarrasing season by the texans, seeing the nationals finish strong in their expansion season and the redskins in the playoffs, i can stay alittle sane :).

but i simply want to know, why are so many "fans" on this board so opposed to drafting reggie bush or pretty much any player(s) that might benefit our team? i mean, a 2-14 season is nothing to brag about, yes we have problems all over the ENTIRE team, offense, defense, special teams, and the sideline coaching. we obviously cant completely overhaul the entire team in one draft, we dont have that many picks, itd sure be nice though.

1) its better to get one player from usc who has been proven to be an outstanding RB, for a position who's current occupant barely put up any numbers all season, than to pass it up for smaller players with less promise, or pick someone stupid. i say, better one good player, than no good players. god knows we could use good players....

2) people need to stop kissing carr's ***, he's a nice guy, but he has had 4 seasons to "get used to the pro level", and he obviously hasnt, he's terrible, get a new QB.

3) yes, we do need practically completely new OL players, because part of carr's problem is the offensive line is terrible and cant block if their lives depended on it. get rid of them, get people who can block and give the QB time in the pocket, this crap is unacceptable.

4) this season, there were so many leads the texans had, and their defense got tired and gave it up with just a few mins left, this is completely unacceptable, they need to hold on to a 11 or so point lead for a whole 2 1/2 mins or they can go back to high school football. pathetic, we need a defensive overhaul. if our defense is as good as people say it is, then why are other teams scoring so many points?

5) having the texans be my favorite team, yes i love them more than the skins, i rooted against them for the "reggie bowl", why?, because getting a chance to pick good draft players first is a higher priority for the future of the organization than winning a meaningless game to have 3 wins instead of 2. if youre such a good fan, you'll realize this, by being so accepting of our current team, then you better become used to losing if youre so opposed to picking obvious things that will aid the team.

i love the city of houston, and id continued to say im a texans fan, but if the high level guys for the texans choose to pass up reggie bush, or anyone that will remotely benefit their football team, then i might just be forced to hate them as they continue to lose game after game and the franchise will tank after a certain point if the losing continues...

i love you texans :)

Who is D'Braksaw? There's this guy from UVA named D'Brickashaw Ferguson, though. I watched him in the Who Cares Bowl and I'll just say he wasn't an Orlando Pace reincarnate. He didn't even play on the level Gallery did with Iowa from what I saw. Kind of hard for me to dump Reggie Bush for an LT that didn't play on that kind of level in college. I'd rather take a guard in Rd. 2 and stick with Pitts, if indeed the new coaching staff thinks Wand is a dud also.

I'll agree with you about needing a linebacker. Morlon Greenwood is an absolute pud. That, along with a severe need for an edge rusher, are the only 2 reasons I'd entertain offers to trade back. I just don't think we need to go in looking to trade, I'd rather us go in intent on Bush and have to be convinced heavily NOT to draft him. Anything later than the 2nd round and we'd be taking it up the tailpipe IMO.

So as I'm sitting here watching the AFC championship I game I get to thinking about Denver and their vaunted run

game and the guys they've had in the backfield (rushing yards only):

Clinton Portis; 2nd Rd, avg 1549.5 a season
Tatum Bell; 2nd Rd, avg 658.5 a season
Olandis Gary; 4th Rd, avg 403 a season
Mike Anderson; 6th Rd, avg 764 a season
Terrel Davis; 6th Rd, avg 1086 a season

Domanick Davis; 4th Rd, avg 1065 a season

How did I get my avg a season? If they had a carry in whatever year, I counted it. If the player missed the whole

year, it did not count (i.e. Mike Anderson has 0 carries and 0 yards in 2004).

Numbers can be constrewed in every which way to prove your point, but here is mine. Denvers most productive RB was a

high draft choice, Portis, follwed by their lowest drafted player, Davis. Some people say 1000 yards and your an

elite back, others (me included) say it has to be higher then that (1300+). What Portis, a very good college back who also played for the most dominant college team in his time, did in Denver's Offense was average 1500+ yards. Obviously we dont know what Reggie would do, but possibilites are similar. Both were the best RB's on their team (yes I know about Bush and White), similar body styles (Bush 6'0 200lbs, Portis - 5'11 212lb), people said neither would be able to run the ball between the tackles.

I see what Portis was able to do in the short time he was in Denver and I cant help but think that Bush would have similar success in the same offense in Houston. JMO....

Joeymousepad said:
Everyone says that we shouldn't draft Reggie because Kubiak can turn bad RBs into great ones but he was only there a few years. Only there to use Portis, Reuben Droughns, Tatum Bell, maybe Olandis Gary. So therefore it wasn't him. He inherited this system.

You need to check his history out there a little more. He was there from Terrell Davis on--since 1996.
