Blake
MMQB
Current Draft Order W/Trades and assuming all Jr's come out.
1 Arizona(f/GB) - Matt Leinart QB
GreenBay trades out of #1 due to Rogers, and picks
up Arizona's #1 pick in 2007. Green has never been
happy with either of his QB's, and gets the best prospect
to come along in years.
2 San Francisco(f/HOU) - Reggie Bush RB
Head coach Mike Nolan has decided to jump up and take what
he thinks is the best offensive weapon in the draft. Hoping
that his WR's step up, he goes with Bush to help out his QB.
Mike gives up his 1st, and 2nd round picks this year, and 3rd round pick
next year.
3 Tennessee - D'Brickashaw Ferguson OT
With their other bookend tackle (Hopkins) going this off-season,
the Titans are forced to restock with Ferguson.
4 New Orleans - A.J. Hawk OLB
mario Williams would be the pick here, if they didnt have Smith,
Howard, and Grant at DE. So they go for the best OLB in the draft
to bolster their linebacker core.
5 New York Jets - Haloti Ngata DT
The jets really wanted to trade up for Leinart, but dont pull the
trigger. The jets see how their run defense suffered without Jason
Ferguson, so they opt for the 6'5" 338 LBS Haloti Ngata.
6 Baltimore - Mario Williams DE
A good pickup by the Ravens, Mario can be tried at both DE, and OLB
like Suggs. He has a monster frame at 6'7" and 285 LBS.
7 GreenBay - Mathias Kiwanuka DE
Mathias will have an easy first few years with offenses focusing
on Kabeer. This will give GB pressure from both sides, making the DT's
and MLB's jobs easier.
8 Tampa Bay(f/HOU) - Eric Winston OT
Gives up their 2005 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, to select the LT from Miami.
Steusie didnt work out, and Walker had his shot in years past. So
Tampa rolls the dice.
9 Miami - Jimmy Williams CB
Miami has a big drop off at CB, after Sam Madison who will not play
forever. This is a good pickup, and will solidify the #1, #2 CB spot.
10 Detroit - Ahmad Brooks ILB
With Boss, and Teddy at the OLB spots, Ahmad Brooks gives them a solid
linebacking core. They will probably go with a WR at this spot though.
11 Philadelphia(F/CLE) - Santonio Holmes WR
Ding dong T.O. is gone, wich T.O.? The baby T.O. McNabb can be a great
QB, but he needs WR's who can play, and keep their mouths shut. Gives up
their 2nd next year, and 4th this year to move up.
12 Buffalo - DeMeco Ryans OLB
Finally back in the first round. Feels good. Buffallo gets a football player.
With all the pieces in place on offense, defense is the only place to go. And
OLB looks like the weak link.
13 Minnesota - Marcedes Lewis TE
It might be a little crowded at the TE spot, but im sure Minn can make room
for Lewis.
14 Oakland - Chad Greenway OLB
Oakland is still struggling to get back to the playoffs. And when BPA is a
linebacker, its an easy choice for them.
15 St. Louis - Michael Huff CB/S
Another easy pick. St. Louis has been looking to upgrade their secondary. And
Huff can go CB, or S.
16 New England - Laurence Maroney RB
You can see what happens to NE, when their workhorse goes down. Even though NE
would love to take a player like Carpenter, they have to fill a need as well.
17 Cleveland - Gabe Watson DT
After clevelands d-line garage sale, the browns have to restock. This is a little
high for him, but they dont want to trade down, and possibly lose him.
18 San Diego - LaRon Landry S
Can play both safetly positions, which is just where the Bolts can use a player.
He has decent size, and can make plays.
19 Chicago - Leonard Pope TE
A big need for this squad. Will be a big target for the QB for the bears.
20 Houston - Joe Thomas OT
A monster at times, Joe is rapidly shooting up the chart. With the poor play by
Wand, Wade, and Riley, the Texans hand is forced, and pull the trigger on Thomas.
With the trade downs, the Texans have picked up enough picks to counter the 3 years
of bad trades, and pick selections.
21 Jacksonville - Deangelo Williams RB
Fred Taylor is done in my book. Williams will split with Greg Jones, for a great
one two punch.
22 Kansas City - Chad Jackson WR
Still searching for that ever elusive #1 wideout. What a bad year to be doing so.
23 Dallas - Max Jean-Gilles OG
Dallas has 2 oldies holding down the guard spots. Im pretty sure one will be done
soon.
24 Denver (f/WAS) - Rodrique Wright DT
Still looking for a few good men, down on that D-line.
25 Carolina - Vernon Davis TE
Carolina has been having trouble filling the TE position with a good player. Chris
Mangum is hurt, and there is no depth.
26 Seattle - Bobby Carpenter OLB
A constant need for the Seahawks. Lets hope he can stay on the field a whole year.
27 Atlanta - Jonathan Scott OT
A great pick by the Falcons. Mike Vick will be loving this pick the most.
28 Pittsburgh - Thomas Howard OLB
Another weapon for the blitzburg Steelers. Might even go higher.
29 Denver - Vince Young QB
Denver gambles with their 2nd first round pick, and selects the mobile, but sometimes
errand pass Vince Young. He will sit for a year or so, and then Denver will give him
the reigns.
30 New York Giants - Darnell Bing S
The giants are a little thin at safety, and could use a player like Bing to pick up
this secondary.
31 Cincinnati - Tamba Hali DE
Still workin on that defense. A good pick this late in round one. SHould benefit from
Justin Smith being on the other side.
32 Indianapolis - Davin Joseph OG
The loses last offseason are felt, and need to be replaced.
