Still not sure how I feel about the new tailgate policies. I see positives and negatives to both. However, one thing did change on Sunday that is definitely not positive. At 4'oclock our group began packing up. While we were packing, a cop on a golf cart came by and told us to turn down our music, pack up, and get out. So, we turned down the music and continued to pack up. Five minutes later another cop on a golf cart came by and told us we had 10 minutes to pack up and leave and to turn OFF our music while we did it. Within a few minutes after that, while we were collapsing our canopy, yet another cop on a golf cart came by and told us we needed to leave now.

This is easily the rudest we've ever been treated in 6 years of tailgating in the Platinum Lot. Not only was it obvious we were packing up and leaving (about 30 minutes earlier than normal), but it was the first time we've EVER been harassed about it. I understand the feeling on the part of the Texans to tighten the rules a bit, but this is ridiculous. We paid a tremendous amount of money, paid extra for the tailgating passes, followed all the rules, and were packing up an hour after the game like we were supposed to and were still harassed.

I must say, if this is a glimpse into the future, we will have to think long and hard about sinking so much time, energy and money into this organization. Apart from the product on the field, this is the first time I've had a bad taste in my mouth about a game day experience.

I can understand your frustrations.

Texan fans expend lots of time and expense to add to their game day experience. Lately Texan fans efforts have not been rewarded by our teams (home games) on the field performance.

To go through all this only to be rewarded by pathetic play and now the apparent thankless treatment by the organization can't help but have a detrimental effect on their loyal fans.

Your treatment might be attributed to minimal employees on an ego trip. If that is the case a letter to management might help.

I am not that great a fan, but I have witnessed how great some of the Texans fans are. The loyalty they have given to this team deserves better treatment than what you have described.

:coffee:

There is nothing more obnoxious than being told to do something more than once when you are already complying.

(It works in marriage that way as well)

I am convinced that the less power an individual has the right to deploy, the more vehemently he is going to deploy it. A golf cart riding tailgate security officer fits the bill as someone who is going to enjoy his power trip. If I were you, I would write to the Texans and make sure they realize that their employees are treating their customers so rudely.

If you had been doing anything wrong, thats one thing. But to be actively cleaning up and following rules only to be yelled at by 3 separate guys who obviously weren't communicating would have made me really upset.

Kudos to you for keeping your cool

Bullseye - I wonder if someone (wrongfully or rightfully) complained about you? Because it sounds like it wasn't a coincidence.

Just pull out your camera and film the ***** next time. For some reason the real or rental cops hate to be filmed. I don't want to bash the cops but you guys were having to much fun and they had to work. You guys were showing off eating good food, having your drinky drinks and they have to work. I think they already ruined the tailgating but it will probably be worse. Where were these cops at when the guy got knocked out? Not there..thats trouble...it's easier to harrass you guys who are having just to much fun...come on and admit it...you saw the cops coming and starting have more fun just to rub it in..lol. I couldn't wait for the season to start but after two home games I feel like oh hum.

I think they already ruined the tailgating but it will probably be worse.

I have yet to have anyone explain to me how the new policy has 'ruined tailgating.'

I've only been given concrete examples of inconveniences....?

For example, some of my folks were inconvenienced because they had to wait for 30 minutes at the gate (they park at the Crown Plaza).

I'm waiting for someone to say "The new policy actually destroyed my tailgate because ________."

Bullseye - I wonder if someone (wrongfully or rightfully) complained about you? Because it sounds like it wasn't a coincidence.

Yankee I think you got it right. Some people hate to see others have fun. The people that probably complained on them are the same people who come to a football game and complain when others stand up or make noise. Those cops at the crosswalks can get pretty funky too.....it's not my fault they took that job and have to work.

This is my point of view ......and correct me if I'm wrong....I take it that you are in a crew where most of the people that you tailgate with go in the games together...they ruined it for me because I bring my pit and just can't leave it sitting out there unattended. We had people that would have tickets and a lot of times would give them away just to tailgate. It's ruined for me because most of my crew that pit sitter are just gone to Astroworld to tailgate....so whats good for you may not be good for me. It's ok though...I was already spending to much time and money with this team...it feels ok to get home for the second half of the other NFL games.

:foottap: How about me having to walk all the way down to West Gate, just to walk back to our spot? That sucked!!!

But thanks for working on another alternative with the Texans for that.

Texan Bill ..Walking is good exercise and you can suck up all that good vitamin D from the Sun...just sayin

A welfare recipient/parking lot attendant (Harold Jerols) was very rude to my wife as well. And had to face her wrath. LOL

They are supposed to be there to help alliviate traffic problems and help solve problems. Not be power hungry a**es.

If you were working for minimum wage and had to suffer by watching people have fun , eat and drink...you would have a attitude too.:worldpeace:

I suffer from high blood pressure, ulcerative colitis and I'm a 43 year old guy in the body of a 67 year old. **** that!! As far as vitamin D, I get plenty - from the sun and one or two of the 27 pills a day that I take. :choke:

So your friends, who have game tickets but give them away because they would rather tailgate than go into the game, bailed on you to pay $20 to park at Atsroworld rather than pay $10 each for a tailgate ticket? Or am I misunderstanding?

Why not sell their tickets for $10 each to cover the $10 tailgating ticket cost?

No they go in the games now but the main pit sitters didn't have tickets...but its ok. As long as Pappadeaux is right around the corner when I get out of the game I'm fine. Getting up at the crack of dawn to get ready to head to the stadium gets old...especially when we have back to back games. I actually had some energy left when I got home after the Giants game. I'm not going to whine about something I have no control over .....I would rather just say screw it than try to make "tailgating" work. They didn't bail on me..they had not other choice ...I'll probably do the monday night game at astroworld and walk over. I'll save my BBquing for cookoffs

Woah, easy there...last I heard, welfare recipients DIDN'T work much or at all. I'm sure those attendants are under the gun too with these new rules and have to be firm so the REAL 'free loaders'/thugs don't ruin everyone's fun including you and your wife. If you can't go that way, or park there, there's a reason why I'm sure. Having game day or season tickets doesn't give you the right at all to be judging folks or going off on the attendants who are WORKING and doing a thankless job so that your high and mighty self can park in the lot and enjoy your bbq/beer. Some people I swear.

Yeah, but you're a svelte young gentleman, not an old crusty curmudgeon like me. Hell, I'm sore half the week from just the walk to the stadium (from Blue Crew), up the ramps and then back to Blue Crew after standing in the Bull Pen for 3 hours.

Texan bill you are not a old gentleman but if you are going thru all this pain I would suggest that you stay at home and watch the games before you really hurt yourself. No game and tailgating is worth that. You may need to take the time and get a good nutrionist to help you with your blood pressure because believe me...I know at the tailgate there is no healthy eating and a lot of drinking which is not something that is in your best interest right now. If you were my friend and tailgating with me I would have had to tell you some truth by now.....I'm sorry if this sounds mean but.... By the way...you can get that blood pressure down if you really want to. I just looked back and see that you are not but 43 years old....still a young man.

LOL thats a good question...the tailgaters that didn't have tickets that got the boot wasn't paying for being bullied by the longarm of the law. I never had any problem with the law down there. If the law is messing with you, maybe you look like criminals.

It's their JOB. They get PAID to be there. If they don't like it, look for another JOB.

That would be like me saying I had the right to be angry and rude to people when I worked at Best Buy and they were coming in to purchase a brand new, bad ass tv that I couldn't afford, and I got to watch the excitement in their face as I swiped their credit card and they were taking that beautiful piece of electronic equipment home to watch football.

That made no sense whatsoever. I guess having tickets now gives us a license to bellittle anyone, workers out there included if we don't get our way or are so thinned skinned to take direction.

You obviously didn't put much effort in trying to comprehend my post.

You made the argument that tailgaters had no right to judge the parking attendants when they are doing "a thankless job" and have to sit and watch us have fun. I gave an example, and there are other suitable ones, of a job that is also pretty thankless yet it doesn't give the worker the right to be an asshole or to try and make all the paying ticket holders and tailgaters day suck just as much as their shitty job.

The examples given in this thread, such as the poster whose wife was treated so rudely or the other poster who was told 3 different times to leave even though he was clearly in the process of packing up to leave, are perfect reasons why these jerks in yellow jackets on a power trip need to be put in their place. It is not the ticket holders and tailgaters trying to belittle them. They try to belittle us and get on a power trip thinking because they work security at Reliant they have made it big time and can boss other people around.

Once again, do you happen to be one of these parking attendants?

Nutrition isn't a problem. I've even lost 48 pounds in the last year and a half. My body is just tore up from years of abusing it. As far as the BP, I'm on medication that generally keeps it under control. In fact, most of the time, it's well below 120/80. It just tends to spike every once in awhile and my pulse rate gets outta whack. I will spike up to 139 over like 89 and have resting pulse rate over 100.

I used to subscribe to the theory: "live fast, die young, and leave a good looking corpse!"

Boy, was I a dumbass!!!

Aren't you three years OLDER than me?

In actual years, yes. Physically, I'm 27 years, your elder. :gun:

Yea but Dread you would do very well in the IRON MAN while BiLL should only enter some liquid variety of the contest

We have been told MANY times to pack up and get out by numrous off-duty HPD/Harris County Sheriff/Constables..we do begin to pack up and then at precisely 2 hours after the game has ended, they head out on their golf carts, not to be seen.
Now this year, I msut admit we haven't stayed super late due to the heat and then the 2 crappy home losses.

I don't guess you did any tailgating and/or going into the standium last week. The new policies and staff put in place out there were only there to cause grief for the fans of the Texans. I'm sure some efficiency "expert" came up with all these changes... this is a reaction to the over 20,000 extra fans during the Cowboys game and the subsequent fight in the parking lot later. What most were aggravated about before and after the game was the fact that there were parking lot attendants and security around the stadium who were there to cause problems for the fans and not assist the fans. It was as if the fans were an inconvenience for the staff. Poor customer service.

Poor customer service, to put it mildy, guess your employees can treat people any way they want when they work for a monoply.

I have to admit, the yellow jackets were in a really good mood this morning and they were fired up!!!

Props for a change!!

At TLT (in the yeller lot) we had TWO people stay out, TWO! They said the "Nazi's" came by THREE times to check their tickets. Seriously? For two girls? On the last visit, one of our girls couldn't find her ticket (the other was in the bathroom) and she was told, "This will be the last game. Next time is ZERO TOLERANCE"

I just couldn't believe it. These two girls were harassed the entire game.

BTW - good job TLT on winning Tailgater of the Game ;)

One would think if they are so strict about their rules they made for the parking lot, they would be just as compliant of the rule they made for the roof!!!!! I think the top temp is 80??????84 at 11:30.......103 sitting in your seat in the sun! We were not happy and had to leave. Just saying! Thanks Bob!!!

They had to open it for the Army Golden Knights who parachuted into the stadium.

If youcannot man up in a little heat get out of the kitchen, this is a football game not the rodeo. I swear some people think that thier ticket is a ***** lisence and they use it for every word they spew. The tailgating went great with the Blue Crew again thank you Texans for listening to your season ticket holders

Well they should've closed on after they jumped in. Wait, didn't they get wiped out by the aliens on Independence Day? Crap no, it was the Black Knights my bad. LOL kidding

Unfortunately, the NFL has the last say. I believe a team has up to 90 mins before the game to make a decision to open or close the roof. After the decision is made, they cannot change it unless the refs agree. I think nasty weather would be the only reason. Lightening and that sort of thing.

I have heard the same thing. It is unreversible after they make it.Don't get me wrong, I loved the salute to the military. I just wish they could have come to an agreement with the NFL to close it after the salute.

Hey Joe,

I 'man up' every Sunday for this team, and my ticket is not a ***** license. My mom and I go to every game and it is hard for me in the sun, but my mother is a healthy 80, but she cannot sit there in that heat. So we left. She knows football better then most men and watches every play. There is no word spewing from me. Don't judge my situation if you are not aware of it.

Anyone who sits in the half of the stadium that is in the sun, knows what I am saying. Not everyone can handle that kind of heat.

Point is, there was no warning, and they didn't follow their own rule, so we were not prepared! It's as simple as that.

Not directed at you alone I just hate hearing how ""it was hot" at a football game, if it were not for the rodeo we would not have a roof. And if you get hot there are multiple places in the stadium, ie the Bull Pen Bar that have TVs and all in airconditioned viewing pleasure. I sat up there with Irene, a young lady that said it was a little too warm for her, from 3 minutes to half time to the third quarter and we had a blast. I am amazed at all the people who complain, the Texans act on thier complaints and the same people complain that they answered thier complaint with action.

I sit facing the bullpen. The 100s, 200s, 300s, 400s, and 500s were...

...totally empty. All those empty seats after halftime stunned me. Our diehards were driven from their seats in hordes by the blinding sun yet I gotta review my mancard? Joe, it was hot.

Whatever, man. Whatever.
