Jaguars lose 2 offensive linemen in opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—The Jacksonville Jaguars, already thin along the offensive line after the shooting of backup tackle Richard Collier, lost two starters in their opening loss at Tennessee.

Guard Vince Manuwai is out for the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee Sunday, and guard Maurice Williams could be sidelined at least two months after rupturing his right biceps. Coach Jack Del Rio hasn’t decided whether to place Williams on injured reserve.

Jacksonville already was playing without starting center Brad Meester, who injured his right biceps early in the preseason and could miss at least the first four weeks.

Del Rio said the team planned to work out several offensive linemen Tuesday, including guard Chris Liwienski who was waived in late August, before making any roster moves.

That's unfortunate. If anyone knows injury, though, it's the Texans.

We have a good shot at not being 4th in the AFC South this year.

titans will win the division......

That's what I predicted in the Colts game thread.

Was there two guys starting for the Jags? If they were, then that would be absolutely brutal. Maybe the Texans will have a decent chance at the division afterall.

If we can get our act together we can do it.

i would give the texans a shot if they had a running game. It's pretty much a given that our D is going to be bad year in and year out, but it pains me to watch Green stumble through tacklers...... an old dosage of Dominique Davis/Williams doesn't sound so bad right now

Please you are not even close to the same class of team we are.

I don't think we're all that far off...

The way you speak I would have sworn that you guys were really a team to be reckon' with...

Y'all aren't all that...

Dude if you haven't noticed all the teams in the division are pretty equal now that the jags and colts seem to be falling. I'll say we all suck pretty equally. The division is up for grabs.

Not even close, huh. Well we'll just have to see how the season plays out then. I do understand how you could think that though, seeing as how you guys won a whole whopping two more games than us last year.

while the offense continues to struggle, the titans D is as good as it gets talent wise in the NFL...............that alone makes a huge difference....

We held the Jags to 33 rushing yards. Collected 7 sacks, a FF and 2 INTs. We have the best D in the NFL and as the team continues to play together this D unit will be amazing.

Chris Johnson was very impressive. The only things that looked bad were Young and special team coverage (which I think was a fluke). If Young does not give up the ball on our 35ish and the Jags do not start in our zone on 6 drives if I recall we shut them out easily. This is a team everyone was saying was a super bowl contender and we took them to the house.

In contrast you gave up 38 points to Pit who will probably make the playoffs but is not expected to go far. Houston has a long way to go. You can not let Willy Parker run like that and say you are in the class with the Titans. Until you D shores itself up you are not a contender for the division.

How do you figure? You gave up 38 points on Sunday? We gave up 10. If not for a few lucky playes we easily could have seen Johnson explode on two runs and score TDs. One he got caugh on the ankle by the last man to beat. The accouncers gave props to the tackle over and over again not even sure how he stopped him. It was Rothelsberger esk from the playoffs against the Colts.

I didn't say were were in the class of the Titans.

My exact words were "we're not that far off".

I know there's a stark contrast in the way our teams played this weekend, but I stand by my comments....your guys aren't all that...I think the Colts are still better and I was never sold on the Jags for this season as a superbowl contender....

I won't read too much into wk one, but I just don't see you guys as a team we should fear...I think pitt has a much better team than you guys...

Young looked bad, that is a pretty big piece of the puzzle isn't it? You guys opened at home, us on the road at a notorious hard place to play. Huge advantage to be playing at home in the NFL. We looked horrible yesterday, yes I will admit, but a whole season it does not make. We'll see what happens when you guys take your show on the road, which btw, isn't much in the first month out of the season. First three outta four at home? Must be nice.

Heard about the Jags, tough break for them. Hope those guys can recover next year, and we can take advantage and sneak up on some teams.

The Jags could possibly wind up in last pace. Think about it, their defense is not as good as the Titans, they have no WR's and now their OL is decimated. At this point, I think our division is up for grabs, but the Jags look like they have a rough road ahead.

Whats your point? The Titans gave up over 30 to the Texans in one quarter.

In case you didn't know, the Steelers had the best D in the entire league last year and It only looks to have gotten better, and unlike the Titans they actually have a passing game.

And I don't know where you heard that the Steelers won't go far into the playoffs, alot of people have them as SB contenders. I mean seriously, have you even looked at their team? They have one of the top QBs, top defenses, top running game, a improved group of Wrs, etc. From top to bottom they're one of the best teams in the league this year. And you make it like Willie Parker running all over teams is uncommon, I'm pretty sure he led the NFL in rushing last year, so yeah, he does that to alot of teams.

Sure getting carried away after ONE week of the season. It's like the host on 1560 that was already clamoring for Sanchez or Stafford even though Steve McKinney kept telling him to quit overreacting.

yeah tons of dolphins fans have already labeled Jake Long a bust and that Matt Ryan is a golden boy now because of his first pass and gosh how dumb Parcells is. typical fan reactions

I'm getting confused. Are Texans fans trash talking other teams because the team that just dismantled and embarrased the Texans is really, really good?

I know I don't understand the whole trash talking culture, but this seems a little weird.
