What happened to NFL Network?

Hey fellow Texans fans, I have DISHNetwork and for about a 1-2 years I was getting NFL Network as one of my channels and now its become a subscription channel. Does anyone know why and is there a way I can watch NFL Network without having to pay for it?

:aggressive: I Wanna' Punch DISH Network in the face!

I switched to 154 to see what was going on at the combine and got a message about upgrading. I was like "what's up with that?" but didn't have time to respond. I will call in either tonight or certainly tomorrow to find out what's going on. A few months ago I changed packages to get rid of stuff I wasn't watching, and the NFL was one I agreed specifically to be included.

I remember Dish Network saying something back around Christmas, that NFL-N would be put on a Premium level..

I'll upgrade when Training Camp starts.

hmmm NFL network must have gotten too popular

Effective tomorrow Dish Network will be removing the NFL Network from its Americas Top 100 Package. (AT100) The NFL Network will however still be available to customers who subscribe to the AT200 package higher. AT100 customers who subscribe to any of Dish Networks HD packages will also lose the NFL HD channel from their lineup.

For the past two years Dish Network has been heavily promoting the fact that the NFL Network was available in all of its AT packages, but this is no longer the case now Dish Network is saying that the 2 year “free preview” of the NFL Network for AT100 customers is over.

The following statement was posted by Dish Network to its retailers website.

“NFL Network Free Preview Ending

NFL Network is moving out of Free Preview into America's Top 200 package, effective Wednesday, February 20th, 2008.

In order to prepare customers who currently subscribe to America's Top 100 or Top 100+, DISH Network will be communicating to customers that NFL Network is rolling up and moving from Free Preview to the America's Top 200 package effective February 19, 2008. This communication will begin on February 15th, 2008 at 11:59MST.

Thank you for supporting DISH Network”

Funny I don't remember them ever mentioning that the NFL Network for AT100 customers was a “Free Preview.” I bet that come Thursday there could be some upset Dish Network customers, but then again perhaps no one will notice until next fall when its football season again.

I pay for a full one year subscription each March 30th. I have done this for several years.

When I discovered the channel was blacked out I called dish and reminded them that I had pre-paid for a year and that nfl network was part of what I had paid for. It was my view that the change to my programming should not occur until March 30th.

The dishnetwork rep. indicated that they had the right to change programing at any time. I stated that this was akin to me buying a new car and then six months later the dealer coming around and removing the tires, even though they were part of the original deal.

Like talking to a wall. (Am I the only one who gets tired of talking to reps. on the phone whose first language isn't English?)

My subscription to directtv starts March 26th.

Bye dishnetwork.

I don't even watch the nfl network unless there is a live game on. It was just the heavy handed manner they used.

:coffee:

Well at least you can upgrade if you want I have TimeWarner and I still do not have NFLN on any package.

Dish Network is still around?

I thought it went the way of Beta Max ...

You haven't been looking into it very well then. Other than the Sunday Ticket, Dish is very good. Each time I have compared, the equipment they provide is much better. Ex. first time I looked, Direct was providing a 30 hour DVR and Dish was providing a 100 hour DVR. They also don't care where the receivers are located. Direct wants to set up separate accounts with corresponding base fees if the receivers are not in the same location. Dish will add a receiver on for the hunting camp, lake house, etc. for $5.

I agree. I believe my DVR can handle 150 hrs. I'd have to check to verify, but I've got the Texans entire season and a movie or two recorded yet still have well over 100 hrs left. Sweet!
