Down in Front... 10/7/2007

I've never heard so many people complaining about other people standing during a football game. Did anyone else experience this? Hopefully it's just a temporary symptom of having a lot of fair weather fans in the stadium.

Nobody complained in my section -519. We were loud and had fun. What shocked me about the fans is that when we tied it up with 5+ minutes left, tons of people started leaving. What is that???

We stayed in our seats for a good 15 min after the game was over and celebrated. Why rush out and face the crowds?:texflag:

I noticed this too, it makes no sense.

I recall when I purchased my PSLs that I thought it would be neat to sit in the Bull Pen. However, I chose to decline because the first few years I could probably hang in there, but looking ahead at year 30 and age 90 I better select a different area.

I LOVE the bullpen endzone... I hate being on the other side because half the fans just sit there most of the game... I mean I've seen it where it's a huge play and people in the 100s are sitting there clapping...

I'm ok with asking people to sit down between plays or during timeouts or halftime or whatever... but if the game is going on expect to stand up! Unless it's an elderly person behind me with two broken hips I'm standing :)

I was in section 127, and nobody complained about people standing that I could tell.

It was bizarre though, as when it got all tied up with 5 and change left, the people next to me left, and a couple of dozen others in my section did too. What gives?

Again, there's a huge issue with fans screaming when we are on offense. I finally told 3 men behind me to shut up.

I've never been a big fan of standing for a whole game. I thought that was just an Aggie thing.

I usually stand and yell on defense and sit and drink beer during offense. But if the people in front of me stand...I stand. No big deal.

I stand for the whole game, but my seats are in the last row of the stadium. This week, I got tickets in section 104. Man, I like my seats better! I can see the plays develop much better and I don't have to worry about people telling me to sit down! We have a lot more fun in the 600's than many do in the 100's from what I saw today. I can't wait to return to my seats in the upper level for the Titans game!

I'm sitting where they don't stand the entire game. Standing too long hurts my back..... :pirate:

There was no life at all in this game. Just seemed a somber place to be. I think everyone took the loss last week wayyyy to hard.

Also noticed most of the normal folks weren't there for this game. first 5 rows of 117 were lifeless.

Maybe they were just VERY casual fans & assumed that with ol' #8 at the helm the Texans would surely blow it and somehow lose by 2 TDs in the final few minutes. Or maybe they wanted to rush home to watch the local news to find out who won the game?

The FRONT 5 :(

One thing I noticed about the game yesterday were the fights....
Not Texan on Fish fan, but Texan on Texan fights... There was a pretty good size brawl in my section and then again on the way out of Bud Plaza after the game....

Why can't we all get along?~?~?~?

It's funny b/c this is exactly why i don't go to too many games. I enjoy actually watching the game & all the other ones all the way down to the nuances too much to be in a stadium. I was reminded of this yesterday when i was at the game. A couple of idiots kept standing up for every play & yelling crap that not only showed their lack of football knowledge, but also that they were probably 2 sheets to the wind. My friend later saw one of them stumble into the women's bathroom, but there was just one problem............. he was a male.

To each their own i guess.........

There was one in front of our tailgating place after the game too...

I thought it was wierd that we wernt doing "HOUSTON-TEXANS" chants after the game when we just won in the final seconds

There was a fight in the Yellow lot yesterday after the game? I didn't see that happen. That type of BS shouldn't be tolerared.

We parked on the concrete due to the rain. We were over in the corner (NE - if I have my directions right) We did make it to two of the shotguns, great speeches. Loved the Futbol comment.

You pay for your seat.
You can stand, sit, scream, yell, watch, be quiet, cheer or sleep.
It's your choice.
And I STAND!
Go Texans!!!
beat the jags.

I have been told that the ushers can make you sit in all sections except the Bull Pen

I can speak to this...

In section 120, I had some folks that I have never seen before ask me to sit down. They went as far as to get the usher...

The usher said "it's football game, and they are in their proper seats. I can't make them sit down".

By the way, this was during player introductions last season...

I keep saying that it is a two-way street as far as fan participation. That game yesterday was UGLY. Not as bad as Raiders last year, but it was ugly. Not much to cheer about. But I do think that people got loud when on a key 3rd down, but because of the game, there was no buzz in the stadium.

As far as standing up, that is a touchy subject. If someone wants to go to the game, SIT and enjoy themselves, they should not be forced to stand because the people in front of them are standing. Everyone doesn't want to stand and some people just can't. While I encourage everyone to cheer and have team spirit, I do think that anything that any act that screws up someone else's day isn't good. Standing the entire game can fall into that category. I guess it depends on the section you are in. Depends on how rowdy everyone is. I stand and cheer when something major is going on, but for the most part I am sitting and looking at the play on the field.

Either way, fighting is just stupid. But I am surprised there isn't more fighting at the tailgate. You have alot of people out there who are rookies at drinking and are full of testosterone because they are at a football game or trying to impress the girl across from them. I guess there are enough level-headed people around to keep stuff from going on.
