I watched a little bit of the game last night and he caught my attention. Not big but Barry Sanders wasn't either. Has nice speed and good moves. I will keep my eye on this guy this year. With Marshawn Lynch now in the Pro's, Forsett will be a household name at the end of the year.

a lot of people use this argument, but it doesn't really hold water. there have been VERY VERY few guys that were Sanders' height that have made it at RB in the NFL. one example isn't enough, really.

How small is this guy?

There have been a lot of guys under 6'. Emmitt Smith was 5' 9", Sanders was 5' 8", Bettis was 5' 11", I think Faulk was 5' 10", Brian Westbrook is 5' 10". We'll have to see how Jones-Drew holds up. KEVIN Faulk is 5' 8"... not that he's exactly the career you'd want to model yourself after, his has been at least respectable.

I think if you look around, there are quite a few guys under 6' tall who've had pretty good careers as RB's.

sanders is 5'8". i dunno how tall this guy is. google it. obviously plenty of guys under 6' have been great, most of the great ones are under 6'. but 5'8 is short.

warrick dunn is the best example of fitting in the barry sanders mold. he's pretty much successful against the grain in every regard. but every year, some guy like Darren Sproles comes along and someone says "but barry sanders was short and he was great!" when there's only been a handful of guys over the history of the league, and there's a dozen or so of these guys entering the draft every year, it speaks to just how important size is in the NFL.

Forsett looks great. I am also keeping an eye on Jahvid Best. He looks like he might be something really special.

Cal also looks like they are going to be really tough this year with the speed that the team has. The Cal USC game is going to be pretty interesting.

5'8" That's why I chose Barry Sanders as an example. Barry, as you mentioned, was 5'8".

The 5-foot-8 senior has added 10 pounds of muscle to jump above the 200-pound mark. Meanwhile, he's managed to maintain his 4.4-seconds speed in the 40-yard dash and added flexibility with Pilates classes.

Looks like he is still doing good. I haven't been able to watch much College football but will try to watch the game this weekend.

Forsett rushes into limelight at California

For Justin Forsett, February 2004 arrived with no place to sign on the dotted line.

The 5-8 running back assumed he was headed to Notre Dame, but the Irish offered scholarships to two bigger running backs. Which was news to him.

It would be easy to say Forsett, now a senior at California, had the last laugh. Notre Dame is 0-4. The school where he landed is 4-0. But holding grudges isn't Forsett's nature.

"It was a tremendous blessing for me to end up where I am," he says. "At the time I couldn't see it. I didn't know where I'd be after Notre Dame turned me down, and it definitely hurt. But God works in mysterious ways, and there couldn't be a better place than here."

So how did Forsett get from nowhere to here? From castoff to Cal's most valuable player so far as the No. 6 Golden Bears head into Saturday's critical game at No. 12 Oregon?

You can't compare someone to Barry Sanders just because of size. Barry Sanders was the best RB to ever suit up arguably. What he could do with the ball is what made Barry Sanders. He would have done it at 5'4 or 6'4, he was Barry Sanders. Quit using the argument and trying to compare them. There is not another Barry Sanders in college football. If you want to express your optimism that a smaller RB will outlast the critics in the NFL, use Dunn as your argument, not the best RB of all time.

Okay throw out that I even mentioned that he was 5'8". He is a good college running back and I like what I see.
