Charles Spencer?

Any current information on the recovery of Charles Spencer? Will he be ready to go at full speed when training camp starts next Friday? If not, what is his prognosis?

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any news. However, I did read in the Chronic that the Texans have the worst organization in the history of sports, Texans fans are losers and I have read at least 18 different editorials explaining why the Texans made a mistake taking Mario. With training camp around the corner, I expect we will get another article about not taking Vince, but it is doubtful that we get any actual news about the team, any of the current players on the roster or the upcoming season.

I'm sure Kubiak will address Spencer's prognosis once camp starts. The current speculation has Spencer missing the preseason and starting the season on the PUP list (missing the initial 6 games).

Last I heard, Spencer was still hoping to be ready for preseason, but I bet he's not ready until about midseason. That's fine, actually. We did better without him last year than I thought we would. The main thing is that he does make it back at some point.

Your comment has to be one of the most sarcastic comments made in the history of this board, and that is no small accomplishment. In fact, I consider your remarks worthy of consideration for the title of most sarcastic, should any formal competition ever be held on this point. I have given you positive reputation points for your sarcastic snarkiness. :-)

Thanks for your input. I have obviously not seen anything much different from what you have seen.

I consider the question of Charles Spencer's readiness to play entering training camp as one of most important questions the Texans currently have open. It would be nice if John McLain or someone at the Chronicle would try to give us a brief comment on this topic.

Thanks for your input. I hope you are wrong about Spencer not being ready for camp.

regarding Spencer I beleive Lucky has already stated the strategy. placed on the PUP and miss at least the first 6 games. considering the injury thats quite remarkable & a credit to the hard work Charles has put in to come back ahead of schedule.

I'm not a doctor but returning from this type of injury & play LT its not out of the question to sit out two years & make sure your 100%. If Charles Spencer is my franchise LT for the next 10 years I'd make sure he is fully & completly healthy even if it meant missing the whole season & being ready to go in 08. but thats just me :drunk:

They aren't going to rush him in and ruin his career and their great draft pick....don't expect to see him much till the season starts.

Yeah...

I don't want them to rush him back to soon, but at the same time I don't want to see him sit out until next year...

I think that's too long...

But in the end it really just depends on how he progresses...

I agrree with this . But I also agree they gotta know. They aren't going to know anything for sure untill he laces up the pads and gets on the thing and does some reps. If he is practcing and the knee doesn't swell, that's 90 % of it. He may not go the first week in camp. But he'll be out there for sure the second week. If he makes live action in the second half of the second or third games...means the IR will be a seasonal tactical thing, not an injury thing. Means the cartlidge is OK, the blood is flowing and we'll get him back Mid October. If they choose to keep an extra player at the 53 cut downs He'll go IR. If they don't and he's locked and loaded they may ease him in by september.
There Will be some rust on the guy. Give him a break board.

I'm losing it  ....and no I don't need confirmation.

I thought Spencer suffered a break in his leg...now we are talking knee?

Old age sucks...but the alternative is suckier...I suppose.

There are multipul posts on the subject. Cloak -nnnn-Dagger is the expert on this. Basically where the break occoured...High on the bone, directly effected the probablity that there could be some issue with blood flowing to the carlidge. It is the health of the cartlidge which is at issue with Chalres. Not the break itself. That has healed. No blood flow...the cartlidge dies. No Cartlidge, no OLT. They won't know for sure if the knee is ok untill he goes. I hope I didn't butcher it too bad.

The bone didn't break across the bone but UP the bone, lengthwise. Fairly rare to see that in a football injury. That sort of break can restrict the blood flow to the cartilage in the knee and... kill it. Worst case is bone on bone and career over.

(At least that's my understanding of what's going on.)

I lost blood flow to my femoral head in my hip...I went from a very athletic guy to a guy who can barely walk...so yeah, this kind of stuff is serious.

My bad Vinny is the expert on this. TY for the help PN.
i'm not an expert...just a guy with a f'ed up hip....but I agree with you too....its more complex than just a broken leg....so we are all on a wait and see. 'Worst case scenario' may never come to fruition. Let's hope so.

Thanks for the clarification.

Here is hoping/praying for his complete recovery.

I would like to see him wait until the training staff are convinced that it's 100%.

Im concerened more on his mentality.

I know what it feels to come back from an injury and the worst part is getting the feeling that you can put any real strain on the leg.

I hope he can get over it before the season
