NFL really need 7 round draft?

I know we can all come up with exception to the following, but should there be seven rounds? Does it actually benefit teams if so, why was it shortened to 7? How much input to this does the union have? For fans, is it a positive to shorten to 6?
 
I like the seven rounds...

I don't really see how shortening will affect the fans though...
 
It used to be real long and those players hardly made the team. I think some of it is union and some of it teams want the chance to get the guys who will even make the practice squad and help during the preseason.
 
They should make an 8th round, but in this round every team has to draft a Division II prospect (really get to see whose scouting departments are worth their salt):splits:

Going with your point, would it not benefit a team to not have a 7th and increase the undrafted free agent pool?

No because sometimes FA get a larger signing bonus. I think 7 rounds is just right. Right now it is in to shorten the draft but only cause of the 1st this year being so long. But people fail realize that it was so long because of how many trades that happened.
