Ware would not be the player he is as a 4-3 LB. Mario has the size and strengh to still be a great 3-4 DE. Mario can play both, and without classifying which defense the HC would run, everyone should take Mario for that reason.
Well...I look at it this way. Demarcus Ware obviously has the better numbers (and had a "flashier" rookie season). And we can debate all day as to reasons (i.e. - excuses) why Mario didn't have a "BLOW-UP" rookie year (double-teams, different scheme, position, etc)...so I kind of take all the numbers (whether it's their combine/pro-day numbers, college numbers, rookie season numbers, etc)...and mix them all together and say "From what we've seen, heard, read...which player do you feel is the best available. I'd have to go with Mario.
Not sure how this can even be a real discussion unless your going off of Mario's "potential"....
This is the only one I read and I agree. There is no comparison right now. Ware is the man and in 2 seasons has started to reek havoc. He started raw too. To say Mario would be to go off pure specualation and potential. This year is a big one for Mario.

I'm really looking forward to this coming season for these types of reasons. We tend to find out a lot about young players in the league in their second seasons. A whole new class of rookies will be coming in that will shift (at least) some of the attention away from the new guys from last year and perhaps we'll be able to look at these guys' performances without some of the media expectations and agendas.
Last years' class had a lot of great players in it and I'm acually looking forward to seeing how they do in their sophomore efforts a bit moreso than seeing this years' rookies.
The above comment that this year is a big one for Williams is very true, as it is for many other players.
On a side note, I am officially in football withdrawal.
With that logic you'd end up taking Santonio Holmes over Marques Colston....
So far, Ware has been the better player on the field. We have to see Mario in his second season to be fair...most players make thier biggest improvement after their second camp.
Can't wait to see DeMeco! Mario will be a bigger beast this year, too. Hopefully he doesn't drop anything on his foot again.

It's plain homerism to not take Ware...
LB(3-4)....
It's plain homerism to not take Ware...
Pretty much...
Of course it's homerism. Why bother to hold camps and practices? Why not just hold a one-day tryout, pick the guys that perform the best, and ignore the element of potential entirely, or your faith in your ability to coach it? Why draft rookies?--let's overpay for every big name, "proven" free agent on the market, fill our roster only with guys who have produced the biggest numbers to date.
Or do you not realize that that is precisely the mentality that you appear to be advocating?
If OTOH you simply think Ware is the better player regardless of potential (where Mario, by just about any account that I can conceive of, clearly has the edge, but if you don't think so then fine) vs. historical performance, then say it and leave the homerism insults out it?
"I think Mario's better."
"You're just a homer."
"Don't you want to know why?"
"No, you're just a homer. Homer homer homer. I know everything. I can't be wrong and if you disagree you're just a homer."
