according to PFT. he's also on the trading block. miami's shopping him for a 3rd rounder. i think a team like chicago needs to jump on that offer.

Why are the Dolphins trying to get rid of McMichael, but earlier they signed David Martin? Big downgrade if you ask me. I can understand it for salary cap reasons, but I don't think you're gonna get much out of Martin next season.
 
The texans need to jump on that & let Daniels operate between 2nd string TE & 3rd WR.

I agree with you, but Kubiak signed Putzier to a hefty 4 year deal last season. You gotta think he's gonna fit in somewhere other than 3rd TE. IMO, I'd start Putzier and move Bruener to 3rd.

Is that the plan? or have i missed something?

well, it seems like we're rebuilding now under cameron, so getting rid of someone like mcmichael, who's been a constant underachiever the past couple of years could be a part of that. i don't think martin is an upgrade at all, but when trying to rebuild and save money, ya gotta move someone, i guess. i dunno. not a very wise move overall, unless they have something in mind that i'm unaware of.

I think Buff, Carolina, Cincy and New Orleans need the most help at TE.

Chicago has a solid TE in Desmond Clark.

Owen Daniels is the man....3rd WR/ 2nd TE ??? Why would we do that ? That doesn't make any sense....He was one of the best rookie TE's last year, if not THE best, in an offense where our QB has a hard time finding his SECOND option...

He was clearly better than Putzier, and beat him out for the starting spot..

I don't understand some peoples thinking...
 
Owen Daniels was tied for 5th in the leauge in TD's by a TE....Led all rookies ... and only had 34 receptions....

I never said he wasn't the man. I'm simply saying that he can split out wide as well. My question is what are we doing with Putzier? Is he going to be the #2 TE behind Owen?

Mcmicheal has Antonio gates potential sans the character. Putzier was trash when he came over, wasn't hard to beat him out. the only reason Kubes picked him up is b/c he knew the system & player & he could be had for cheap. Daniels looks better suited to play WR to me anyway, he's on the smallish side & if i'm not mistaken he mostly played WR in college after a brief stint at QB right? Let him slim back down & get out there & block on those toss sweeps. Yeah he was one of the best rookie TE's last year but other than Vernan Davis, i don't recall anyone else besides--- Colston but we all know he was pretty much a WR anyway.

My thinking is that we're not going pay a backup TE the kind of money we're paying Putzier. Or are we? If Daniels is going to be the #1 guy, then why pay Putz that kind of money?

And I checked...He wasn't one of the best...He was THE best...

And it's not my fault if you can't recall Mercedes Lewis,Anthony Fasano, Dominique Byrd,Joe Klopfenstein,Leonard Pope,David Thomas....LMAO....All those guys were taken before ours by the way...

It was supposed to be one of the deepest TE's drafts in a while....

And by the way....All those guys were taken before Mr. Daniels....

But you still shouldn't sit the more talented player because he makes less money...

I gotcha. I'm just thinking that we should try and possibly restructure Jeb's contract. If he's just gonna be a coach, let's pay him less money. I mean, Bruener can be a good enough player coach.
 
Lets bench AJ and let him be our 4th WR, and lets let Demeco just handle kickoffs... lol why would you take a good starter and just sit him like that?

There were a bunch of those last year:ok: . Lets slow this down a bit, he is good but he is no McMichael on the field.

Come on Xtru... you'll be the 1st & say that stats lie but then use stats to back up you're argument for daniels? He definitely was a surprise, but don't sensationalize his stats like he was a serious threat (insert DC comments here). 5 TDs, in which 2 of them only really meant something thorughout the course of the game is hardly impressive.

And yeah i couldn't recall the other guys you mentioned, but most of them either have guys ahead of them that were clearly better (Fasano/witten) or had good WR's on the outside to where they weren't even needed in the passing game, moreso to block. hell some of them weren't even starters! B/c of the scheme we run (run dependent) we need him more in the run game to block in which case he clearly has to get better at.

David is good but he ain't no Vince Young or Matt Leinart.....

We didn't have a problem passing on them either...

I guess it's just a difference of opinion....
