Positives
He has great size 6'5 235. Has a slight side arm throwing motion but shouldnt matter to much since he is 6'5. Great arm strength. Good accuracy. Good vision.

Negatives
Does not sell Play action or screens very well. Locks on to WR's

Yes he is Carson's brother

I think we can get him in the fourth round.:stirpot:
 
I don't want him. I follow UTEP football closely (I'm a fan, used to live in El Paso) and he's way too inconsistent. He looks great at point, but once he does something bad it seems he loses his confidence. He reminds me of Wandy Rodriguez for the Astros. I don't see Palmer being anything more than a career backup. I'd rather have Kolb, Troy Smith, or Drew Stanton. Heck, I might even rather have Drew Tate.
 
why would you want him? he's a project QB with good size and a big arm but not much else. he doesnt make our team any better now, and that's what we need. bring in an RB who can actually run, an OLine that can actually block, and then worry about drafting a QB.

Thats were Kubiak comes in. He would sit on the bench for atleast two years.

QB's usually take 3 to 5 years to reach there full potential. So when exactly do we draft a QB.
 
I would not waste a 7th on him. He has played 6 year in college and he still is not the best qb in his conference. Pass on him.

You are forgetting about his medical redshirt year, 2002, broke his collar bone. He is a 5th year senior, who will be 23 in May. He is one of those player that just seems to have been at a school forever. And his Junior year was his best year. He just doesn't seem to have the right stuff between his ears, all the physical tool but not the right make up.

So my 6 year comment was uncalled for.

That's right, I forgot about that. One other fact about him, he played behind a bad offensive line his last 2 years. Not exactly the greatest fit for the Texans. I don't see him being a good QB either though. He has a bunch of potential, but I just can't picture him being a good NFL QB when he wasn't even an average college QB at times.
 
Palmer has the same problem as Kolb. Where Kolb is inaccurate on the run. Palmer can not run. Will say after I watched him again after his hornrendous preformance vs Marshall, he was much more accurate. He is a statue. And that is something that is never going to change. He cannot run Kubiack's offense. He does have a cannon arm. But he has no controll over it. He'll be a prospect invited to camp. If he makes a roster I'll be surprised.
 
I wouldn't mind drafting a qb in a later round with the intention of not starting h im for a few years IF kubes thinks he will be an nfl starter after say 2 years and be worth it. i don't know much about palmer though..

on side note: just out of curiousity. what would y'all think of us drafting brady quinn if he falls to us. oak takes russel, det takes thomas, browns take AP. I guess it depends on whos still available but he could be the bpa? I don't know if I would necessarily like it but could be ok with it. Again I'd rather him sit for a year and learn our offense and nfl pace/style, and not just get thrown into it. let our oline gel and improve another year or so.

No no no no no! I don't want Quinn. He reminds me too much of David Carr. If Quinn is available at #8, my guess is there will be a few teams interested in trading up to draft him. I figure we could probably trade back a few spots and get an extra pick later in the draft as well if this were the scenario. The chances of Quinn being available are probably less than 1% when we're up to draft.

Yea trade down might be good. I'm sure he will be gone before us and that leaves a player we would rather have falling to us anyways.
