Top football states according to ESPN

Pretty interesting. Can't figure out how Florida is ranked 3 in pros while Texas is 4, while Texas has more Super Bowl Wins 5 to 3 and over 3 times as many Hall of Famers (24 to 7).

Good list I think.
I don't really mind taking a backseat, in the pros category...to Bradshaw & the Steelers...Marino and the Dolphins and California football teams...the Black & Silver are a pretty impressive group, no matter what city they are in.

At least they recognize WHERE IT'S AT with HS & College football.

They RECOGNIZE!

Yes, South Lake Carrol is quickly becoming a dynasty powerhouse.

Texas football has always been different. I'm surprised Alabama isn't higher. It is like a religion. Same with Ohio to a lesser extent.

They're saying that Rhode Island has 1 NFL title.......I'm confused????

"The Providence Steam Roller won the 1928 NFL title. The long-defunct franchise also played the first night game. Now, the 13th of the original colonies to ratify the constitution looks north to the Patriots (Foxborough is just a few towns away from the border). Steve Furness, who earned 12 varsity letters at Rhode Island, was a member of four Steelers Super Bowl teams in 11 NFL seasons." http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/story?page=communityfbRI

You can click on the state names, as they are links.

because florida is better than texas.

yeah, i guess texas is a pretty good pro-football state. they have 3 teams--cowboys, titans and uhh...the other one that no one seems to like because they like the titans now. ;)

Is that the same one that got 3 of its 5 wins over Florida teams (including those Fins who someone I can't remember right now is a big fan of).:tease:

Because everybody knows high school and college football rule the State of Texas. It's not that way in Florida. They put professional football on a much higher stage than what we do.

Obviously it's not based on production on the field or even head to head:

Dallas vs Miami: 4-7
Dallas vs Tampa: 9-3
Dallas vs Jacks: 2-2

Houston vs Miami: 2-0
Houston vs Tampa: 0-1
Houston vs Jacks: 6-4

Combined: 23-15

I don't know about this. First of all, I am a Texan through and through! However, I lived in Gainesville, Florida for a few years. I went to alot of Gator games. This was back in the Spurrier years. I played golf with him once. That is another story for some other time...Talk about intense!

It's true that Texas High School football is alot more important than Florida HS ball. But, in Florida, the Gators and SEC football take a back seat to nobody. Also, the rivalry between Florida and Florida State is insane. Much worse than OU and Texas. In Florida they have two passions...college football and Nascar. In that order.
This weekend, I'm pulling for the Gators to win the National Title. Ohio State better bring their "A" game.
Now, after all of that blabbering, IMHO, Texas is still the best place in the world. Bar none.
