I have really dogged this group all season...Calling them talentless and weak hearted.

They absolutely owned and I can't say enough about how good they played.

They played well enough to win this game. I think they have always been decent with the run game and the Colts BIT big time on the roll outs. We still need a MAJOR overhaul with this line in Free Agency and who will be worth taking in the draft.

Gaping running lanes? Let's not get carried away here. More like, "Yay!!! You guys only allowed ONE guy to hit Dayne at the LOS!!! And he can handle that as long as he's 100% healthy!" They did well enough, but let's not get carried away. They have always been OK at run-blocking, but the pass blocking still sucks, Salaam in particular.

Goldeagle, I agree that we still need to "overhaul" the line in the offseason, but I don't think FA is the way to go. We will overpay for average talent. I still think we need to upgrade through the draft. Unfortunately, the guy I would like them to get, Joe Thomas, is probably going to be long gone by the time we pick, especially since we won today. :yahoo:

Spencer (when he comes back healthy), Winston, Pitts, and Weary are good young talent, but McKinney, Salaam, Wiegert, and Flanagan are old and injury prone. Wiegert may not be back from his injury. Don't think Hodgdon is going to work out as Center, so we could pick up one in the draft in the 2nd to 4th rounds. Maybe we could get Kalil from USC or Young from Fresno St. in one of those rounds and maybe pick up a OT like Staley from Central Mich. also in the 2nd or 3rd round. JMHO!

Anyway, CONGRATS to the O-line today for doing a great job! :ok:

Young from Fresno St.

Young plays like his feet are stuck in cement, so he will most likely not be very high on the Texans draft board.

Watch the short suttle times at the combine, this will help us rate the player higher on Kubiak/Smith list.

But slow footed player will not be a stapple of this team for long.

Props to the entire o-line. If they could do this consistently we'll be a much better team. We controlled the clock and the game.

IMO, the O-line played better because of McKinny at center. Not sure why, but it might be he is playing for a job or maybe he just makes better line protection calls than Hogden. Whatever the reason, today they played reasonably well against what can only be called a "fair" defensive line. It's amaizing though how much better the team looks when the O-line plays reasonably well and there is a running game. Go figuere, who knew that O-line play might be the key to a good offense.

I think it is because he's a good run blocker and they stuck with the runninng game plan. Had we been passing a lot I'm not sure how they would have held up.

We played to our strengths today.
