BCS Selection Show

I Still wish it was Ohio State Michagan, A rivalry in the championship game would be good, or trash the BCS and start a playoff system

The rivalry has already been boosted. #1 vs #2 game. Now Michigan is denied a rematch. When will they satisfy this desire for a rematch. Next time they play them, it could potentially be a great game as well.

Final BCS Bowls:

National Championship- #1 Ohio St vs #2 Florida

Sugar Bowl- #4 LSU vs #11 Notre Dame

Rose Bowl- #3 Michigan vs #7 USC

Orange Bowl- #6 Louisville vs #15 Wake Forest

Fiesta Bowl- #8 Oklahoma vs #9 Boise St

It's kind of a dull year for BCS bowls. Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl?? They had a great year and won a very-down ACC, but that game doesn't have much national interest. Same with Boise State.

#5 Wisconsin & #10 Auburn got passed on cuz a conference can only have 2 teams in the BCS.

I would have rather seen one of those teams than Notre Dame.

Here are some of the non-BCS bowl games that I think will be good games:

California vs. Texas A&M - Holiday Bowl
Tennessee vs. Penn State - Outback Bowl
Auburn vs. Nebraska - Cotton Bowl
Arkansas vs. Wisconsin - Capital One Bowl

Add these:

Liberty Bowl- Houston vs South Carolina

Las Vegas- #20 BYU vs Oregon

#11 Notre Dame in a BCS bowl. Just like last year, they didn't beat a single team that finished in the top 25.

It's such a pity Div-1A football is ruled by the all-mighty dollar.

I thought this at first too. I still think Michigan is the second best team in the country, but you couldn't put 'em in the championship game. What if they won? Are you going to crown them champions because they split the series with Ohio State? Especially considering OSU beat them when both teams were in the flow of the season and healthy and the championship game will come after both teams have been sitting around for a month.

I'm all for the playoffs. I think that any system that makes it unfair to play the second best team in the nation in the championship game sucks. But, I don't feel Michigan would prove anything by beating Ohio State. We'd need a third game.

Yes Michigan would be crowned champion because they would win on a neutral field.

How would they not prove anything?

If you already think they are the second-best team in the nation...

And then they beat #1 on a neutral field...

How would that not make them the best?

Easy. They would have played in back to back games and split the series. Ohio State has proven they are capable of beating Michigan. If Michigan won they would prove they were capable of beating Ohio State. Would that make them better? Just because they won the game two months later? I don't think that would be fair to Ohio State. Of course, not playing isn't fair to Michigan either. In my opinion, just goes to show why the BCS sucks.

Look at it this way. They get LSU ... in New Orleans.

who else would've gone instead of ND? wisconsin and auburn are eliminated because of the 2-team rule. they finished in the top 12, so they're certainly qualified.

There is one problem tho.

Ohio St won at home.

If Michigan wins on a neutral field then that means they are better.

If they win on a neutral field then they can say that they would have won the season game if it was in Ann Arbor.

It wouldnt matter if they split because Michigan won the fair game & Ohio St won with a home field advantage.

I'm not sayin' home field doesn't have its advantages but it doesn't make all the difference.

That's true. But Michigan has a legitimate beef.

If Florida barely beats Ohio St & Michigan dominates USC then I could seriously see the media labeling Michigan as half of a split national title just like they did with USC in 2003.

But where does it stop:

Count all home-team victories of 1 or 2 points and all overtime victories as losses?

Does the fact that it was a rivalry game strengthen (crowd into it) or weaken (visiting team psyched up) the traditional home-field advantage?

Do we start adjusting the score for mileage travelled?

Do we take decibel readings of crowd noise to figure out what handicap to give the visitors?

I completely agree with that. I think it all comes down to the BCS being to hypothetical. It works great when you have two undefeated's, but if that's not the case it kinda breaks down. Michigan has a legitimate beef, but so would Florida if they would have been passed. I think it would have been interesting if USC had won. Them, Florida, and Michigan would all have reasonable claims to the game in my opinion. But, the way college football works...Ohio State kept the ball in their court all season. You lose one game and their are legitimate reasons to keep you out of the championship.

You do have 2 undeafted teams one of them is Boise St.
The BCS is crap and college football championship is a myth!
And that is the bottom line!
