The Voice of Reason

Is it reasonable to root or hope that the texans lose out in order to obtain a higher draft pick??? No, absolutely not. It makes no sense. I think our talent level is one area that needs improvement, but WE HAVE TO ELIMINATE THIS LOSING MENTALITY/NATURE OF OUR FRANCHISE. The very last thing we need is to lose, or to talk about wanting to lose. Isnt everybody sick and tired of losing?? Anybody with any type of sense can understand the importance of winning some of these final 5 games... and wishing to lose in the light of that is uncomprehendable.

There I think your wrong. I think the team has a lot of talent. I just think that that talent needs to be brought together, and the bringing together is going to take some time. We gave Capers 4 years to screw the team up, I would expect at least three years to have Kubiak fix it.

nah.. we lack quality depth. it is especially evident in our running game, OL, and DL. we have good starters, but once a few of them go down (aka: dd).. that particular facet of our team turns to crap.

Yeah, releasing Wells without a good replacement first was a bad idea IMO, but who am I, just a die hard fan who will still pay to watch the team on the Sunday Ticket even if they lose every single game. :gotexans1

You're both right. This team lacks talent in a lot of areas. The most obvious place is the secondary. But, Ryans, AJ, Robinson, Willams are very talented, to name a few. We have talent, but we need more....BADLY. The team also needs focus, especially on the offensive side of the ball. There are talented players who lose focus and not-so-talented guys out there stinking it up. We need both and it shows in our record. We have gotten some of both in the past year and we need a lot more.

For a minute there I though maybe aj's famous column " Voice of the Fan" had come back to life as another name, oh well, sure do miss your stuff aj!

Well after five years of losing, i'm ready to win. Screw the high draft pics, we just need another good solid draft like we had last year. Losing is contagious and we need these guys to get some wins and carry something positive over into next season.

Hey AJ if you are out there, what happened to your column? I remember your email to me but can't find the Voice of the Fan.

Last year I was rooting for losses by week 7, partly out of spite but mostly because I wanted the 1st pick and wanted to ensure a regime change. This season is different. We're dramatically better and one hurdle that needs to be addressed is the ability of this team to finish and to learn to win. So, I agree with you this year anyway.

Also because The Texans never draft who we want anyways so might as well win what we can.

It just really goes against what I believe in to deliberately lose for any reason.

thank you... fans that preach "i hope we lose, we need to lose, blah blah blah" just make this disappointing season that much harder to take. ok, so the texans are going through some serious problems,.. but rooting for the #1 pick does no good at all. we all need to support our team, in spite of how bad things are going. i want some W's, and when we do win,.. i do not want to hear kalu say "we turned the corner"..haha... lets do it texans, 5 games left.. 3 of them are definitely winnable, and with or without an upset over NE or INDY i will be happy with wins over the raiders, titans, and browns. Here is to the TRUE HOUSTON TEXANS FANS... Cheers!!!

wells cant pass block, never could, thats why he never started except in injury relief. I liked the guy, but he wasnt starter or even 2nd string material.

as far as the hoping to lose idea, I think kubiak has that covered. you can guarantee that every key moment in a game he will make the wrong play call and then say "we dint get things done we needed to do to make it happen" we should make a thread counting the bad play calls like we do the sack credit/blame threads.
