Hall of Fame
The Doak Walker has been annualy awarded to the nation's premier running back since 1989.

The 10 semifinalists this year were:
James Davis (Clemson)
Mike Hart (Michigan)
P.J. Hill (Wisconsin)
Ian Johnson (Boise St.)
Marshawn Lynch (California)
Darren McFadden (Arkansas)
Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma)
Ray Rice (Rutgers)
Steve Slaton (West Virginia)
Garrett Wolfe (Northern Illinois)

The 3 finalists are:
Mike Hart- 301 carries, 1515 yds, 5.0 avg, 14 TD
Darren McFadden- 223 carries, 1303 yds, 5.8 avg, 12 TD, & 1 recieving TD
Steve Slaton- 204 carries, 1578 yds, 14 TD, & 2 recieving TD

Who should win?

Out of that group, it should only be Slaton.

If you go by stats it has to be Slaton. There is no other choice.

Slaton is a talented back but the system at WV pads his stats.

McFadden is a beast but I like Hart better.

I think Hart is a better running back than Slaton but I think Slaton deserves the award.

Well, if your not going by stats Rice and Lynch would be finalist. They are better than the finalists.

really tough choice this year. i'll go with slaton just because he breaks off a 50 yard run every single game.

How is Ray Rice not a finalist?

Ray Rice - 263 carries, 1,388 yards, 16 TDs (10 games)

The 3 finalists:
Mike Hart - 301 carries, 1,515 yards, 14 TDs (12 games)
Darren McFadden- 223 carries, 1303 yds, 12 TDs (11 games)
Steve Slaton- 204 carries, 1578 yds, 14 TDs (10 games)

And I'm curious to how his percentage of his team's total offense compares to the other candidates.

Percentage of total offense:

Mike Hart - 36% of Michigan
Darren McFadden - 33% of Arkansas
Steve Slaton - 39% of West Virginia
Ray Rice - 44% of Rutgers
Marshawn Lynch - 31 % of California

I hope that answers your question.

It answers one of them but not the other (How is Ray Rice not a finalist?).

Nice work.

I dont understand why everyone likes Lynch so much...he really isn't that impressive to me.

As for the Award...Mike Hart.
it's probably because lynch is the best RB in the upcoming draft.

also, i'm sure rutgers losing had something to do with ray rice not being a finalist here, sad as it may seem.

He is kinda like Joseph Addai last year. Possiblely the most NFL ready RB in the draft. He is flying under the radar, but he will be one of the first RBs taken in next years draft (if not the first).

I dont know how "under the radar" he is...got himself alot of hype. I dont know...I've only seen him play once and he didn't do all that much.

I know he gets mentioned on a lot of draft reports, but for the media it was Peterson, then Slaton, and now their darling is Hart. "Under the radar" was the wrong term, should have said "Isn't a media darling"

If he sreads LSU's rush defense this weekend, the race is over. See if Mr. Landry comes out from under the table this weekend. If you're going by value to the team, McFaddin is the guy.
