Hazing (not what you think, just bad metaphor)

Jackass of Day!
I was having a conversation with my brother in law today about the heartbreak that is our houston texans team. He pointed out that as a lifetime tampa bay buccaneers fan, he knows suffering like no other. They have had 0 win seasons, and he has watched almost every game. Being a true fan of the franchise is being a fan no matter what the score, no matter what the team record. Sure we all want to win, but this is year 5. We've got decades of texans fandom ahead of us. Lets not pretend like its the end of the world. These formative years are a form of hazing for our franchise. Just our initiation into the NFL. We are taking our lumps to be considered a real team, and in the next few years we will shed the expansion label and the losing mentality. Until then, we watch. And hearts break, but they mend. Go Texans....we can still do 9-7

Nice post. Dont know what else to say it it.. I can think of a few choice metaphores to explain our fanbase, but that isnt going to help anything, and not all of us are bad fans.

Anyway, nice post. Rep for you.

IM A TEXAN

So what should we say?

"Thank you sir, may I have another?"

I was hazed enough in college that really don't want any part of it one way or another.

I see your point though...

It is still tough to hang in there...

I too, am a Texan. And darned proud of it!
Someone told me today that I might consider having the tattoo taken off of my arm. I laughed in their face. There are two kinds of people in this world....Texans. And, those who want to be. I'll support our team to the very end.texanpride :gotexans1

I dont understand where the concept of "im paying my money, give me what I want" comes from.

By your definition, McNair has paid 1000x what you have, and as such, he is 1000 more times entitled to do what he wants with the team... so if he wants to dress them in pink and draft 7 punters next year.. he can because he paid 700 million and that makes the team his plaything.

The amount of money you have put into the team doesnt really matter. To be honest with you, given the choice between some rich bastage sitting in a box seat eating gourmet sandwiches and wearing a signed Tony Boselli jersey, or a guy that drove from San Antonio in his 88 Chevy to yell for 4 quarters in his dirty blue jeans and faded battle red t-shirt... ill take the man in the Chevy.

Go Texans....
By my nature, I love an underdog. Needless to say, the Texans are my team and the Texans will remain my team. When we win, it is the sweetest of victories. When we loose, my blood pressure goes through the roof. I suppose I need these extremes to make it all worth while....this is what makes it fun to watch, talk about and look forward to next week.

......Bring on the Jets Damn it ! :redtowel:
