Texans/titans

We saw Kubiak's vision of the Texans offense for the first time against the Jags. If we can run on the Titans, our offense will be successful. If we can stop the Titans' running game, they'll get shut down on O. We don't need to outperform them per se on the ground, we just need some production to get the roll outs and play action working. If we can get a similar level of play from our DL and ground game as we did last week, we have a good shot. If we become one dimensional like the previous 5 weeks, and we can't stop the run, it's going to be a miserable day.

Admittedly the Texans weren't tested in their run defense yesterday and this is the matchup to look for in this game. I am not sold that the Texans can stop a Titans run game, nor am I sold that if the Texans bomb it out for once in their new regime lead franchise that the Titans can stop it. As I have stated before though, watch out for Brandon Jones, he could be the deciding factor in this game. Just a twitch

well..................I have heard this is the week the FO is letting VY special package to be put in the game plan...............Fish called out Troupe today which I think is a big sign we may cross up the Texans and throw it first..................truthfully I expect a fairly high scoring game and I dont think we will run it a ton.................just a hunch

Hmm, a rookie quarterback with questionable accuracy and Drew Bennet as your #1 option...yeah, go ahead and throw it. Stop the run, stop the Titans. The last two weeks is the only time they have really been competative since week 1, they are also the only two weeks in which they have had a 100 yard rusher. Its not rocket science, lets get it done.

This game is perhaps even bigger than the Dallas game.

The match up. To this point in the brief existence of our franchise the Texan/Titan games have not exactly stirred the emotions or rivalry the league was hoping to when putting Houston's old team in the same division as Houston's newest team. Primarily due to the fact that in four years of play the Texans are 2-6 against there old squad. Its hard as a Texan fan and even harder as an old, die hard Oiler fateful, to get up for a game or even admit to some how much this game really means to them. Leaving your heart on a plater and letting it be exposed for easy extraction is what some would describe as "Less than Ideal."

This year this game means so much more. Never mind the fact that Bud Adams not only still lives in River Oaks but gets all his hair pieces imported from Possum Holler off the backs of local road kill. Never mind the love many of us had for Columbia Blue, and the heart break suffered when the team announced it was heading toward the land where everyones family tree is a straight line. Never mind the fact that someone forgot to tell our front office that if you are going to win only two games a year, than you should really do it against the flaming retards. This game is a three way match up involving Carr/Williams/Young. This game, as extreme as it may sound, could make or break our Houston fan base.

There are three things Carr has to do this weekend. Carr has to win this game. Carr has to have a better performance than Young. Carr has to throw more TD's than Young. If he doesn't, if he misses any of those categories, not only do the Carr haters/Vince man lovers continue to relentlessly pound him into the ground until he leaves Houston, but also loses the fans who are teetering on the edge. The undecided vote if you will. If Carr comes out flat and we still win, forgetaboutit. Carr's life in Houston will become even more miserable than before. Not to mention those of us on this board who have fatefully defended Carr will lose any leg to stand on and the Vince Young loyalists will start to wag there finger at us and start to spout a "See I told you so." One such board member that pops into mind is Vinny. God help us if he gets a voice with something to back it up. I might have to change my name and start all over.:shoot:

There are three things Mario has to do this weekend. Number one, sack Vince. He has to, there is no other way around it. Two, he has to contain Vince in the pocket and not let him make any plays with his feet. Three, Mario is going to have to dominate this game. This needs to be the Mario Williams coming out party. If he doesn't I feel that no matter what he does for the rest of his career he will get the bust label and his life will become very difficult here in Houston. The overall number one draft pick needs to beat the snot out of Young and prove to the fans that he was worth the number one pick.

Vince Young has to have a terrible day. All rights he should. No receivers and a sub par offensive line, the only thing he has to ride on is Travis Henry. Thats why this game is more on Mario than on Carr. If Mario takes away there run by stuffing the running lanes, if Mario collapses the pocket to create pressure and sacks, then Davids job of out performing his sub par counter part is much easier.

Maybe we will even win some fans back.

Old Houston team -vs- New Houston team with Carr/Williams/Young. Drama.

This is just a really stupid post. It makes you sound really unintelligent. Calling Nashvillians names and such...what is this? Middle school?

I like most Texans fans and I have posted on here a lot, but you might be the worst.

By the way, good luck on Sunday. I will be at the game. I hope to see Vince, Carr, and Mario all do well.

I not here to bash Tenn. I grew up a Oilers fan, what I hate about them is the owner and there is not one person in Houston that will not back me on that. But just what I have seen the Texans should win this we have gone through alot of changes head coach, new O, new D, and so on and it looks like they are starting to figure it out. Plus getting Faggins, Peek, and Wong back made our D much better. As for Tenn. VY has a way to go and right now the only thing he has on his side is his ability to scramble so look for Ryans to spy on him and knock him back to last years UT OU game I just do not see the weapons on the Offence to help him. Myself I get hyped for this game only to stick it to Bud Adams, he thought by drafting VY he would get more fans here in Houston and yes that is why he drafted him to try to stick it to Houston one more time other wise he would have gone after ML so heres to giving the finger to Adams.:texan:

The early line shows the Titans -3. That sounds about right. If Houston plays with poise and effort for 4 quarters they should win, but as was already pointed out they haven't won a road game in a long time.

I hope this is it. I give props to Kubes and the coaching staff for getting the Texans up after their horrible beatdown in Dallas. Now the task is to avoid a letdown after Sunday.

GO TEXANS!!!

if the texans play the titans like they did sun against the jags, then i think the texans will be 3-4 next sun.

"Their defense is not good enough to withstand our offense."

We held Indy to 14 points at their joint and the skins to 22................both away games...............and how did the texans do against both at home? Loved your win over the jags..................but this Titan team is a bit better than most of you think...................we aint great.................but we will fight and stomp on your helmetless, defenseless head.................I think the only matchup the Texans have to beat us is AJ on anyone.................but I dont see a single matchup of your D on our O that we can't win ....................and this game is in TN and we are coming off a bye..........throw in VY's chip on his shoulder....................I think it is going to be very interesting

fixed it... your welcome.

Thats crazy talk, mario is gonna body slam VY into the grass and knock that *****ty flaming T off his helmet! i am predicting it here and now, texans win, score: Texans 678 Titans 1, out of desparation the refs award the titans 1pt.

At least you're realistic... How many QB's has Mario body slammed on the grass again? Super Mario will need to eat his magic mushroom in order to do any damage this week :)

Mario Williams can't hold VY's jock. And you know it.

This is gonna be a good game I cant wait till pacman and andre go head to head. As far as talent Texans are good at passing and Have 2 great recivers.Titans Have good running and a monster of an Oline since david stewert and jacob bell became starters. As far as defence Texans have got a young group with talent and a beast of a linebacker. For the titans stats can be deciving Despite being last in run defense they have improve since cowboys dramatically Robaire is playing like the beast he use to be and Chris Hope has been a major factor in run support.

My prediction
Titans-14
Texans-10:twocents:

I gotta tell you Tweety, I don't agree with your prediction, but I must admit I wish the Texans had Robaire back. I think we made a mistake letting him go and hopefully we won't pay for it too bad come Sunday.....No doubt he will be clogging up the middle. :brickwall

I think it may be more of a high scoring but honestly this game is going to go either way.

Coming into the season, I expected us to sweep you guys with all the craziness you went through with the McNair/Volek/Collins/Young thing, but you've been playing really well. A lot better than I expected. Our running game hasn't been what I expected although it showed some signs of life last week.

I don't expect you guys to look past us like the Jags did. You're going to play us hard. I'm expecting to win this game but it's not going to be easy.

Have a good game and no injuries!

both teams have a shot............so it should be interesting................I think AJ is the Texans key while VY will be ours

This game I am not sure how it going to go... Which Texan team shows up? the one that beat the Jags or the one that got blown out by philly and Indy?I honestly don't know how this Texan team is going to be.. if it weren't for the Taylor fumble and we capitalized on that.. who knows where that game would have gone. To that point, we still can't stop the run and once Taylor fumbled and we scored.. we made the Jags one dimentional and that helps a defense a bunch. That doesn't mean that I didn't appreciate the kicking we gave the jags (I loved every minute of it), yet I don't see a dominate defense (on the Texans part) if the game is close. VY like him or not is going to bring a unique challenge to our defense. Is our defensive line fast enough to get to him before he scrambles? can we keep containment to make him pocket pass?

I see an evenly matched game right now... Texans have to get a running game going for us to make this game ours

You guys are bad and we are on a roll..............Texans 24 Titans 10

score: Texans 678 Titans 1

Are those mini-Texans or full sized Texans? Cause I think full sized Texans will easily roll the scoreboard this Sunday. Final score will be Titans 2 and Texans sill have that funny little symbol for infinity like when you have unlimited lives on Contra.

Does anyone under the age of 25 know what Contra is or did I just REALLY date myself?

:shoot:

Whether you feel its a stupid post is your own opinion. A bit immature maybe with the name calling but everything else was an opinion of what situations each player has been put in after the draft.(Did I hit a nerve?)

I will say this, I have never, ever, under any circumstances, ever feigned any sort of politeness or tolerance when it comes that state. I hate Tentopee. I have often wished that state would sink into the ground like Atlantis did in the ocean and never be heard from again. I have never tried to hide it. You stole my team. You stole my history. You even went so far as to retire Moon's number. I will always wish the worst. I even have to pull for the Cowboys when they played you. To top it off, I'm not sorry.

For me personally this game is different. Its more than a division game, to display more of an accurate hatred I have for the Titans its like England -vs- Germany and we are the English.

I will poke fun of the Titans every chance I get. I have often gone to the games and made fun of Titan lovers who insist on wearing there pansy Viagra blue jerseys. When it comes to this game I don't care about good sportsmanship or fan politeness. I want us to drive the Titans into the ground like a nail, step on there throats and never let up.

Not many share those same opinions that I do. Which explains why the Oilers left to begin with. Thats me.

To bad your not a Jag fan Tack b/c reading your posts you sound like a good guy. I just can't let it go. Once Adams dies things may change, but as of right now that is where I stand.

(No offense either.....)

And yet, you are still in the cellar looking up.

So, what's your point?

The Texans always seem to play to the perception of the team at that week. Meaning, they lost bad to Buffalo last year when people thought BUffalo would be really good, and they lost to Washington bad this year when everybody had been thinking Washington would be really good. Neither team, it turns out, is looking very good. My point is, I think the Texans will play the Titans well because the perception is that the Titans are a bottom-dweller, too. My hope is that the Texans are fired up from the big win against Jax and take it to Tennessee with them. However, it will be a really tough game because it's the Tacks in Nashville, and they are looking at it as a must-win for them. It will come down to who wants it more.

Titans 31, Texans 24

ehh....

Might want to go the other direction there.....

Pacman has pretty much shut down everyone he has faced, including TO.

Ha! That's funny. Pacman really scared the poop out of the Cowboys, huh? What was that score again? Why don't you tell us what a dominating, great running back Thurman Thomas was after your guys whipped the Bills twice in a row?

Are you trying to spark concern? We'll win if everyone on our team plays well, and spread the ball around, but the point of view you are writing this from, as a Cowboys fan, is funny. Your attempt to spread dread is hilarious, and only supports my feeling about what the Texans need to do to win.

This post is not hostile, I swear, Glacier. But only adding something like "otherwise, we would have only won 59-14" could have made it better.

Thanks, Red. You just proved his point.
I won't even bother arguing the logic of your rantings - it's apparent that you're way beyond that. Maybe some professional help to deal with your anger issues would be beneficial, though.

Well when we win on Sunday I will be on here to talk Some Hella Intense Taunting. Let's take that overall record against the Texans to 7-2.

Thats fine. I can dish it I can take it.

Then some would wonder why I have anger issues.

Just b/c that super bowl team was all Houston players doesn't mean I should be bitter does it?

I would like to say they played like they were still Houston players, always coming up a yard short.

They weren't all Houston players. That was from the '99 season, the Oilers moved to Memphis for the '97 season. Thus, there were "Tennessee" players that had been on the team for 1-2 years.
