Agree. I thought he’d be more suitable for a power gap versus zone. But still could potentially be a great addition.

Sam LaPorta: I just got back from a Top 30 visit with the Carolina Panthers (4/13). I’ve also done quite a few Zoom meetings. I met with the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks Cincinnati Bengals, and Houston Texans virtually. I had a few workouts with the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and Dallas Cowboys.

I’ve met with so many teams. I met with the Tennessee Titans in person after my Pro Day. It’s exciting to know that I’ve had so many opportunities to get myself in front of coaches. One of those 32 places will be my home in the next few weeks.

Interesting the zoom aspect. I wonder when and how a team decides to use it? Do they ask scheme related questions and want prospects to walk them through plays? Or is it more behavior based?

What makes the Texans decide to zoom call a player vs meet them in person (beside the obvious Texans medical staff wanting to find that injury to seal the deal on drafting a prospect).

Also has experience as a returner. Led the Big 10 in both punt and kick return yardage in 2021. Jones will turn 25 during the season, and had been a fringe WR as he had bounced around from Buffalo, Iowa, and finally Purdue. Big 2022 saw Jones lead the NCAA in receptions. Here's a 100 yard KO return vs. Illinois.
