Of all the OLmen projected to be selected in the 1st round, which one do you absolutely do not want & why?

Daniel Faalele.
Slow lateral movement is a big red flag for mine, plus he is not a natural at the position - slow to process what's happening in front of him.
He may well eventually develop into a first rate player, but will have to continue to learn.

I’d flip this giant to DT in the NFL. Let him clog the middle and force the run game around him.

The following is not to pi$$ off Number 19 ! I think it only necessary to consider those prospects who would be drafted with intention of starting them. One of the staples of my full, imaginary lines I build yearly, has been Green this year. He's big, strong, has played a lot of tackle, and he's an Aggie .... how can he miss ? His body is horrific .... along the lines of our two current stud tackles ! Bodies with that amount of bad weight are the result of not taking your craft seriously enough, or sheer laziness. BTW, Green only achieved 20 reps. He's not committed ! God .... put him beside Tunsil or Howard .... they would inspire each other - a race to the bottom ! They say one bad apple can spoil the bunch. This could be an Historic Event !!

It's not that I don't want this player. But, I don't think Charles Cross would be a fit for this offense. He's strictly a LT and would be a projection if moved to RT. Has played in the Air Raid offense and has not had to drive block in college.

I think Cross is the best pass blocking LT in this draft. I think he would have a top 10 grade on many teams board. Just not the Texans.

Green has long arms which contributes to less on the BP.

Watching Green on the field, he was dominant.

I like Cross, but I see him more along the lines of that big, German boy .... slenderish but has worked like a trouper to build his upper body strength. Big butt, legs, and even calves are really a necessity drive blocking. Which reminds me .... one last time - are we employing a man or gap blocking scheme ?

Honestly I disagree. You’re basing a judgement off of one player from Nigeria. Ekwonu seems like an extremely hard worker and is talented. Judge the player on his play and ability not just from where they are from.

Neal is the better player, IMHO and if it's even close I'm staying away from the Nigerians.

Agreed. Every player is different. Ex: Derek vs David Carr… which would make more sense to compare because they are actually brothers who grew up together than two players who happen to be Nigerian.

But I would want Ikem to be a LG. I think he could be Quentin Nelson if a team puts him at guard. He could be protected more against his weakness with a move inside (overaggressiveness which can lead to poor hand placement from lunging when he misses). He would change the OLs identity with every pancake. I would be absolutely thrilled to park Ikem at LG for the next decade and watch opposing DL limping off the field late in games licking their wounds. Even if it takes a 3 to get him.

Trevor Penning, Nothern Iowa.
It sounds like he might be promising prospect but our expectations have not been realized with either of the two Olineman we've taken most recently from those smaller "directional" types of colleges as is this guy.

Amobi is the "reason" he feels this way about Nigerians.

Never mind that Davis Mills has a background very similar to Ryan Mallett & Tom Savage
Didn't know about Mills story, please share it with us.

BTW, I would pick Ekwonu in the 3rd Rd like Mills was picked. But I'm not picking him at #3.

I agree. I want to like Cross for his pass blocking, but his run blocking is less than to be desired. Based on Locke and the FO, it seems like we’re going to run. Gross wouldn’t be the right fit for us.

Whelp, Amobe is enshrined in the HOF now.
You may be thinking of Christian Okoye, the Nigerian Nightmare

They were all 5 star recruits out of high school. Weren’t 3 year starters for one reason or another, drafted 3rd round or later.

All were born in the United States of America

Mallet and Mills are apples/oranges comparison.

Savage and Mills are more comparable but Savage didn't have the mobility or was able to process as fast as Mills does.

Actually I’m hoping to get a good idea of the worst OL projected to be selected in the 1st round, because that’s the guy Caserio is going to pick.

What makes you think this.

In fact what makes you think Lovie will be picking a. OL in the 1at Rd to begin with.

I get it. But if we're only talking about their family background & country of origin....

I mean one of the Nigerians you're talking about plays offense & the other plays defense, but you don't see the actual difference in performance, production, or athleticism.

Amobi was always known to be a project

Ikem is thought to be plug & play.

Amobi was like 19 years old coming out. We don’t see too many of those draft eligible nowadays. Certainly not projected to be first rounders or top 10 like Amobi went.

I'm not taking the chance at 1-3 or 1-13.

Late 1st early 2nd maybe worth the risk.

I'm thinking Caserio is the GM & conventional is not how he does things.

He's going to select two or three players in the 1st round this year & I guarantee 2 will be players "no one" on this board want on this team as of now.

Not that they didn't think the Texans would be picking in that range, but flat out did not see on this team.

Maybe even a RB, drafted in the 1st round

A 19 ye old Nigerian is probably 21-22 yes old

Kinda like the Dominican republic baseball players.

Do you not have any faith in NC?

NFL is now international you would be unwise not to consider an entire talent pool. Different world, different times.

I’m still trying to get a handle on that big Austrian OT Bernard Raimann. PFF has him ranked #13 but think that was posted prior to the Combine, but still is he worth a first round grade?

What I want to know is why he doesn't have any faith in Caserio? He doesn't like how he handled the cap, but Caserio hasn't hurt the team long term with his handling of the cap.

He said he has liked with what he's done I'm the draft.

If Raimann falls to the Bears in the 2nd Rd they should pick him. He won't be ready this yr, but I think he will be ready after a yr with a NFL S & C training regimen.

So far I have no reason to doubt his ability in the draft. I think he'll target the guys he wants on the team, moving up & down, & stockpiling picks in future drafts.

Because he picks players no one wants right now, doesn't mean they're bad players. Just that he doesn't think like we do.

my question is whether or not he is a tackle or guard? really leaning guard, if so he could start right away.

He's a guard. Whoever Caserio drafts at #3 better be able to start right away. My pick wouldn't be Ekwonu at #3.

Give me Neal/Walker/Sauce or even Davis at #3 before I would pick Ekwonu.

I have to ask, you are advocating for Walker, a guy who was initially ranked around #45, over Hutchinson and Thibodeaux?

Yes, because I don't take those rankings seriously. I was Walker as a versatile DL who reminds me alot of Watt and the things they were saying about him before that draft.

With this said, I wouldn't have a problem with Sauce at 3. I've got Williams rated ahead of Thibodeaux. I don't want Thibodeaux on the Calhoun's. Certainly not in the 1st Rd.

You know Thibodeaux has been ranked at #1 on many boards at various times and is still there on some?
Conversely, I have never seen Walker ranked #1 on any board at any time.
Sorry if I don't value Walker as highly as you, but I have to agree with the consensus view from actual experts.

Well, we have a terrible offensive line .... worst in the league ! It seems like a decade since we have. I know there is nothing sexy about offensive linemen .... but they open the holes and give the QB more time .... and allow more points on the board .... equaling more butts in seats .... and .... TK's good sippin' liquor disappears more rapidly .... and suddenly the world is right again !
