Yeah the Jets owner wants to win right. And he most definitely won’t turn them into the northeast version of the Texans

I dont think its insulting. I think some of you are delusional in what you expect to get back in a trade.

I'm thinking three 1sts over the next 3 years and Quinnen Williams plus Darnold seems fair

Or just give 1-2
1-18
2-34

And be done with it. That gives y'all the franchise QB marketing relevance and the Texans almost four 1sts and the ability to flip Darnold for more picks. Plus it won't destroy your teams drafts in future yrs so they have the picks to build around DW4.

I think your delusional underestimating what we can get back. With the talent level of Watson, on top of the coveted position he plays, the Texans should not only ask for the moon, they should consider nothing less. I don't know why anybody thinks they're going to get over on some deal with minimal costs.

And remember, the Texans aren't the ones seeking the trade here. They don't have any pressure trying to unload him that might make them settle for less. And the Texans also have the added benefit of pitting 2 division rivals against each other. You think the Jets want to face Watson with Miami twice a year for the next 10 years, and vice-versa, after finally getting Brady out of that division?

Maybe but you have an owner that wants to make a splash and I can’t see them liking the idea of Watson going to Miami.

If the Jets owner wants to make a splash.....draft QB-Zach Wilson (BYU) to take care of their QB position. I believe this would be the first time cheers might rain down from Jets fans when the pick is announced. They have a lot of draft capital and cap space to make this team pretty special in a hurry. By drafting Wilson....they'll keep their cap in order until he's earned an extension. By the time that day arrives (3+ years), the Jest cupboards should be full with starters and eventual replacement depth.

Gotta love it when a team that just last season were expected to go 0-16 and everyone was saying the high end college teams could beat is now talking about don’t want to be us and how they want to win. Might want to save the trash talk when you can actually post a winning season.

This is the BIGGEST reason WHY Jets will want to trade for DW4. If Watson goes to Miami the Jets would've have to face Josh Allen and Deshaun Watson twice a year. Plus the Patriots.

....wait, won't the Bills, Dolphins and Patriots have to face Zach Wilson twice a year each? He's being projected to be a solid "Franchise QB" who may even be more NFL ready than Trevor Lawrence.

Then we don’t trade with Jets, have fun playing against Watson in Miami.

lol. yet we beat 2 good teams at the end there. so i guess "everyone" was wrong. anyway.....the jets need to stock up on talent not trade away all their assets that will allow them to stock up on talent for one player. you guys had a decent for a while there, but it's not looking too good for you now. your best player is about to be gone or be forced to sit out. without him you might not have won a single game last year.

you get it. this is why there's no way in hell the jets are trading 4 1sts plus quinnen williams (a ridiculous expectation) for watson. if the dolphins want to give up 4 1sts plus a player, let them. i doubt they do though. i expect your new GM to overplay hgis hand and make watson sit.......which will force them to trade him next year and also lower his value

You get a legit top 5 young franchise NFL quarterback ( who’s coming off his best season in the NFL) verses a prospect who never played a NFL game yet. Big difference

Yeah those were the only teams you beat. Also that caused you to fail at tanking. Yeah you’ve got some great reasons to brag there.

I gotta say that’s a bit much. I can see 3 1’s or 2 1’s a 2 and Darnold. He’s gone and represents a lost cause and a lot of money as this is his last year of his contract. But that’s the extreme of what a team will give up.
If NYJ were to make a trade I’d imagine it would be this years 1’s and 34 along with Darnold. That’s it.

I would throw in a 2022 3rd to even out the deal.

But he ain't done nuthin' yet... he could be a Leaf or a Russell

.....absolutely, but he could be the next star in the making. I can’t say like Mahomes b/c the Jets are craptastic at the moment and in no way resemble the Chiefs team that Mahomes arrived to. Jets could keep Darnold until the deadline and then let him go in a trade....or, let him take the beating while the new talent matures for a season, then let Wilson go under center.

3 1sts and 1 player (Quinnen preferably or Darnold) for DW4 (the QB only). Now add compensation for DW4's signing bonus the Texans will be responsible for even after trading which is $27M (4yr avg is $6.75M). Take away 1 year and that leaves ~$20M, If I'm the Texans I want something for this.

no one is giving the texans money, and i'm not even sure that it would do anything for your cap if they did anyway. quinnen is a no. darnold would be the only possibility i think. 2 1sts this year, seattles pick and darnold are the max. i'm not sure douglas would do it, but i'd be ok with it

Most likely you aren't going to get what you want. (Compensation for money owed) The good thing is all of that $$$$ will hit the cap next yr when the tank will be in full force. Then after next season you can cut/restructure Cunningham/Mercilus and have a bevy of picks and young players with alot of cap space to build on. That's the price to be paid for DW4's childishness and BOB signing Mercilus/Cunningham to ridiculous contracts. Just be prepared to watch some bad football next yr. Not really much different than watching bad football last yr.

If they dont give the two 1sts and 34 this yr or the two 1sts and a 2022 1st then no deal. A trade has to hurt both sides for it to be fair.

I also would rather have Wilson on his rookie deal than DW4 on his 156 mil deal. So I get where you're coming from. Chances of a deal getting done with the NYJ would be about 30% by my guestimation.

i actually believe that the most likely outcome is that your gm forces watson to play or sit

Not cash, I don't even think that's legal in the NFL. This is where another pick would come into play. Teams either meet what the Texans want or not. The consensus here is the Texans will be bad next year regardless, so if no offers are worthy then so be it.

I dont hold DW4 in as high of a regard as most around here. So I want a trade and a full rebuild. With that said for the good of the team and the league if Caserio cant find an acceptable deal then he should hold onto DW4 and suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team when he comes back after 10 games so that he doesn't get service time and move him next offseason. Trust me, the NFL owners/Goodell will find a way to get this done. They dont want DW4 setting bad precedent.

That’s one of the wild cards in all this, in some ways this isn’t Watson vs the Texans this is Watson and his agent vs the NFL. Goodell at the end of the day has 32 bosses of which the McNairs are one and we’ve seen in the past when those 32 make up their mind Goodell makes it happen.

We’ve also seen that if it comes down to supporting one player vs their own pocket books the players will pay lip service but they will still suit up. Remember when Kap was last in all the headlines and all the players were supporting him. They may have been willing to kneel but not one was willing to sit out. They threatened it but none actually did it. In fact think it was one of the Pants or Jags WR that was suppose to be a WR during one of Kap’s training things but he had to leave early to catch a flight back because he has a game that Sunday.

As @Corrosion keeps saying Watson’s agent is playing a dangerous game and Watson will be the first one to pay the price.

That’s why I’m so surprised Goodell hasn’t intervened on this matter. The media hasn’t even asked him about this situation.
I’m also wondering what the other owners are saying? We do know several teams have called the Texans with their trade offers. Therefore, they do not have an issue with what Watson and his agent are doing.

Maybe yes and maybe no, we don’t actually know what those offers have been. As @Double Barrel said in another post collusion is illegal so the other owners can’t flat out say “Don’t trade him because we don’t want this spreading.” Likewise they can’t have nobody call because that would be obvious as well. However if they call and give an insane lowball offer it could be their way of saying don’t trade him.

Let me be clear this is just spit balling and yeah as we get closer I think one team will make a real offer because Watson would help them sell merchandise. I do find it strange though that we’ve heard about all these offers but no actual details just talking heads theorizing like we are.

Good stuff.

I still want to hear what Goodell has to say on this situation. This particular situation never happened in the NFL.

The reason there’s no actual details is because there are teams trying to get him, and they would never release anything about the offers to the media.
That’s not surprising. Everyone’s playing poker right now.
The other reason your not seeing any insider info is because Caserio is from NE. They do not operate like some idiot franchise. It’s all done in-house, and no one knows anything until after it’s done in these specific situations.
You guys ever see a Belichick interview or do a press conference? Canned responses and non-answer answers.
That’s why all you’ve seen from Caserio is HOU isn’t even entertaining calls for Watson and they aren’t planning on trading him and he might just sit for next season.
There’s nothing there. Nothing to talk about. It’s as if they aren’t even admitting there is a guy named DeShawn Watson on the team. Almost total denial. This pisses off the media. They hate how NE and Belichick handle the media. If He never won all those SBs, he would be attacked ceaselessly and hated by the media non stop. But since he’s the best, how he handles his business and his dialogue is funny and cute and it’s all good.

The media will find out about the trade when you and I do.
And the media HATES that. They want to tell you what they know and drop hints and make you constantly come to them for the “Insider” information and breaking news.
NE has never rolled like that unless it fits in their plans, and that’s rare.

I think if anything this drama is like Jerry Springer.

Its a waste of time, both sides make themselves look bad... but its kept a lot of people talking, theorizing, hoping what is going to happen... after a down year adding hype through the offseason.

This can only be good for the NFL as long as it is a slow, comtrolled burn... not an explosion.

I believe Miami upped their situation to a win-now mode. With Caserio in the GM seat, the days of dealing with RS or OB are over and so are the lopsided trades. If the Jets even want to be in the ballpark of blocking the Dolphins from obtaining their QB1 "Franchise QB".....Douglas better ready himself from a deep ride.

If the Jets want to be in the game, they better be prepared to cough up their:
2021
RD1-02-002
RD1-23-023
RD3-02-066
Darnold As A Toss-In
2022
RD1
2023
RD1

If the Jets would like to add WR- Cooks as a solid veteran and someone Watson is comfortable with and is probably better than the current receiving group:
2022
RD2

Like I mentioned in another post.....the Dolphins are truly a QB1 away from possibly elevating their team to being the AFC East team to beat, especially if they can add a Cooks to their receiving group. Why would Miami be such dominant players in this potential trade action? They wouldn't be obtaining a game manager like Fitzpatrick or hooking their carriage to an inexperienced horse like Tua, they'd be landing a top shelf "Franchise QB" who's only 25 years old and under contract. That's potentially a 7-10 year answer at QB1. I think the Dolphins can throw down a package of players and picks that could have Caserio succeeding with his first blockbuster deal.

2021
RD1-03-003
RD1-18-018
RD2-03-035
QB- Tua
CB- Howard
2022

I also wonder if MIA or NYJ would attempt to make a stipulation that Tua or Darnold can’t be traded to NE or an AFC EAST team.
Cause you know Caserio already has Belichick on speed dial For Tua.
Flores a former coach in NE trades Tua to Caserio a former FO guy in NE only to have Tua then immediately traded to Belichick a minute later for a 2nd round pick.
I’m sure this is being discussed, folks.

Lol no they won’t have any type of stipulation on a player that’s been traded like that.

I want no part of Mack Jones in the first round.

I would rather have Wilson.

But I like Jones alot and think he's going to go in the top 10.

What do you not like about him? He's accurate to all levels. Munipulates the pocket well. Is said to process well and was a leader on his team. To me he's a much higher end Schaub, more mobile (Although not fast, and has a much better arm with the same type of accuracy)

I'm looking forward to your reply since if there's one thing you know it's high level QB play.

I think Jones is a higher end Matt Ryan.
Bigger arm, lethal accuracy and a leader.

I think its more than that .... mainly because the Texans are paying 17% of Watson's entire contract. That's huge in terms of cap space

Hopefully the Texans are keeping everything in-house only as far as info on Milwaukee Wave off. trade offers. I can see Casa Rio getting what he wants and that is silence.

I dunno any chance Watson plays in Canada in 2021 ? The nfl sure wouldn't like that..
