I'm of the camp that a decent-to-good coach shouldn't have to re-scheme massively for every game and his team should be able to impose their will a good percentage of the time. Sure, you make adjustments, but you don't drop out components of your prior success completely.
I don't see that under O'Brien. I see games where the TE is integral, and stretches of games where it's a non-factor altogether. Same goes for tiered passing lanes. One game we'll have receivers at three levels, the next everything is deep-or-bust. By the same token, most if not all of the off-season moves (especially in FA) have been extremely beneficial.
I keep waiting to see TEs who can be coached up to block (looking at you Akins), an OL that can stand against a 4-man rush all day, and an uptempo offense more than once in a blue moon...and can switch to it at will.
