Game 2...Home Opener...Jacksonville Jaguars!

Between gifts from the refs and #20's dropped interception and playing a 6th round rookie and costly penalties, we were given every chance to win this game easily. Man that was ugly and filled with the same mistakes as always. Thankfully we won, but wow.

I don’t really know what was wrong with Watson today. The protection for the most part was fine, better than last week - he had all his weapons, the running game was working (though strangely underutilized until the 3d quarter) and the Jags were without Bouye. Was this in him or were his receivers well covered because of bad play calls?

And when does Crennell stop to play of receivers and letting his cbs give up easy short throws?

Still I am happy with the win and hope, we get last weeks Watson back next game...

Guess you probably don’t either. Just an observation. He’s proven he isn’t like his dad. Gives every indication he’s set expectations and has shown he has a trigger point. Today’s not that day IMO but I wouldn’t bet against my thoughts on him.
Cal is an unknown.
OB is a known after 5 yrs and his power has gained.

Just sayin good buddy....

Ugly win. The OLine & Watson still struggling w/ blitz recognition is killing the offense. We have the best receiving back in the game and he's not an outlet? OLine: showed flashes of what they're capable of but there's way too many mental mistakes. There's enough talent there that Watson shouldn't be getting hit this much but simple stunts are throwing them off and very few blitzes are picked up well. There's no rhythm or creativity w/ the offense. When Watson did have time, either no one is open or Watson isn't seeing them. I keep thinking about Mahomes getting plugged into a scheme that brings out his talent but Watson sputtering. Even if Mahomes is better than Watson, he's not that much better than him. This scheme is lacking -- I'm not sure how anyone can argue that at this point. I don't think that the clock management stuff at the end of the 1st half was really clock management but more BOB's conservative nature getting the best of him again. I believe that he was afraid to use the time out because he was thinking that he'd leave time on the clock for the Jags if they got the ball back. So instead of being the aggressor and going for the kill by using his time outs when an aggressive coach would, he's hedging his bet and waiting until he feels like we're going to make it down the field which was too late to start using them. One big positive I saw was Mercilus continuing to play well. I still feel like we won't miss JD as much as many here felt we would. I would feel better having them both on the field however. Time for BOB to hold himself accountable and be a better coach as he keeps saying he needs to be. There's too much talent for this team to not look better than it did today.

I made an observation. Didn’t denigrate yours. I’ve seen and heard enough of him to take his word when he’s said he’s told every member of his FO his expectations. You ignore someone like that at your own expense.

We've seen 5 years of a win not actually being a win and are now in year 6.

That old adage does not apply to this team in its current state, and that attitude is what allows the cancer in our bloodstream to continue to metastasize.
One thing I don't like. You quote me so you can use it negatively. Not cool.
Take a flying leap creep.

Watching Gruden and the Raiders makes me sad. They revamped things and he has Carr looking like a million bucks. They were heavily sacked last year, OL still not good, but he has his guys running fast short efficient routes. Not long bombs with your QB as a sitting duck. Just an efficient offense.

OB should be forced by Cal to give up play-calling duties.

the Jaqs coach is worse than the Texans coach.. could switch them out and the teams would perform the same.. butt Texans could be 4 - 4 by mid way thru schedule... sad =o(

Everybody thinks we got a close win against an inferior team but it could also be said that the Jags are a better team than we think they are. Just two seasons ago they made some noise and that was mostly due to their defense.

Could it be that the Jags defense got refocused and got back to what they were doing back then?

Minshew most likely is not anything more than a short term answer but in this game he held his own. DW was not all that impressive for us in this game either. Minshew showed a lot of moxie and came within his coaches poor judgement from winning this game.

Minshew was the hot hand and he was making good things for his team happen. With time running out he should have been the decision maker with the ball in his hand. I am happy we got the win. It is a better win than I am sure some of you care to see or acknowledge. To me the opponent is right in line with us talent wise and it could be said all the teams in our division are real close in regards to talent and skill. What could set the teams apart from first to last is our coaches.

Trading future picks mean you here longterm. Man I was once upon on the OB train. Not anymore.
Just dont see it with OB anymore. Do see Cal riding with his good buddy

Jam, could you give us ‘out of area’ fans a breakdown of the game and your insights you can give from it? I trust your eye for the game.

Do you think OB is good with time management?
Do you think RAC's defensive scheme is still effective and good?
Do you think our offensive system is effective and putting our team in the best position to win?
Do you trust OB as your defacto GM signing players to long-term deals?

Jags may very well be more talented than we give them credit for. That doesn't make OB exempt from ridicule. He did his best to lose this game.

Has anyone told JJ that the season started? 2 game, 2 tackles 1 fumble recovery. He needs to play up to his contract and status.

I like the Tunsil trade. Players and Phins top of the round picks make it easily defensible. I don’t give a rats ass who made it. With it OB put his neck on the block. Cal ain’t about business as before as plainly seen. Guys gotta make it work. BTW sure could have used Clowney's one solo and one assisted tackles today, lol.

I have an idea, how about we get Duke involved in the passing game.... just sayin, since that is his forte, apparently.

Yeah I here ya on tunsil trade. But I also got problems with our extension with an average center.

Clowney old news

I like the guy but his team his 2-0 and we are 1-1 with a win vs a backup qb

"We didn't need to use a timeout. We just took to long to line up."

(Soundbite 610)

Are you f'ing kidding me?

I am not over this. It's the same elementary school crap we've seen since his first year. How am I screaming at the Tv to call a timeout and no one on his staff is? Imo it speaks a lot toward the power structure on kirby.

No one thought to call a timeout or no one DARED to tell OB he should?

And his limp explanation after the game is just as big a crock of sh*t. We shouldve lost today. That crowd had every right to boo.

The Jags were just as poorly coached as we were in this game. I am no BOb and RC apologist but this particular game saw crappy coaching from both teams. I will happily take the win and hope BOb and RC come to their senses as they go against teams that have proved to be better than us.

They haven’t yet so why would that change going forward? Would you be ok if Marrone was our coach? You just compared them. So would you take marrone as your HC and GM? If not then why would you settle with OB?

I have never said anything of the sort. I have said that the main thing that separates the teams in our division is the coaches. I never suggested that Doug Marrone would be a better choice. We should have lost the game today because nearing the end of the game we were overplayed and out coached. That does not mean I want Marrone to lead our team it simply means that on this day we won a game we should have lost due to the poor choice of Doug Marrone.

There is plenty of season left so I will be happy with a win by one point and not act as though we lost by 30+ points. We are 1-1 and that is better the 0-2. So people need to lighten up a bit.

Am I clear to move to the drunk thread!?
This team..., no wait, actually it’s OB that’s gonna ultimately kill me having to root for this team!
