I’ve heard multiple people say this and I’m not sure I understand why we’d be screwed if we don’t end up with Caserio. If McNair decided that Gaine was good but not good enough I say kudos to him for having the balls to do what it takes to get a better man in the position. To me, as long as we end up with a good GM we’ll be fine. I want Caserio too, I like what I’ve heard/read about him and his philosophies on team building. Having said that, I’m sure they are other excellent GM candidates we could hire if things don’t work out with Caserio

If you could bat .500 in the draft, you'd be executive of the year every year.

The only "fan" I want to see as GM is Steel Blue Texan. I'd love for him to get a chance to put McNair's money where his (STBs) mouth is.

There would be alot more talk on the board.

Trent Brown and Dillard would be Texans and Watson would be much better protected next yr. Even if this meant losing Clowney after next yr.

If they value him that highly then why not give him the title and compensation of an NFL GM ?
Of course he'd still be answering to Bllicheck but lot of teams already have that arrangement which allegedly is what we've had here in Houston for awhile now.

Based upon Cal's actions which left the organization in the position of concurrently paying off two GMs I suspect SteelB would be proud of the
Texans new leaders manner of unrestrained spending in the interest of improving the team.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me it's working under the assumption that Gaine was ditched at this juncture only because they already had another GM sewed up, namely Caserio.

Even if it's not Caserio, cool. But no, I can't see why they would fire Gaine right this moment if they didn't have someone in the bag. That just wouldn't be very smart and it's certainly not planning ahead if they didn't have a clear bead on someone.

There hasn't been anyone else's name really floated except for Caserio, so yeah, it's an assumption (or a presumption, depending on how much you believe the talking heads), and now with allegations of tampering, it had better be Caserio.

RE: "Tampering." I don't see how NFL teams can get anything done of this magnitude without first talking to a prospective employees on the side. It's simply a matter of who gets caught doing it.
 
Out of curiosity, has anyone seen the drafting record of the Patriots with Cesario as their pseudo GM? How does his draft record compare to Rick Smith? I've never seen so much hype about a person without a mention of their record or accomplishments.

Did you even research the facts on why they were fired or anything or just jump onto a kill the bigot bandwagon without knowing anything about Gaine's character or the characters of the accusers? Fact is if you're an acting racist that wants to shovel out all of the African Americans from places of employment in America the NFL is probably one of the most difficult places you would succeed in that. Use logic.
