Would you make a trade before the trade deadline?

Texansphan

Football connoisseur
Deadline is Oct. 30th, so there is still plenty of time.

I would try for La'el Collins from the Cowboys. He is a proven tackle and we need them in the worst possible way to protect Watson who already is banged up and heading for a David Carr-esq career.
Cowboys acquired him in the late rounds so may be tempted with a high pick or trade for Will Fuller.
Who would you suggest?

I would be willing to trade a 2nd and a 4th for Hunphries and a 3rd for Spriggs. That would greatly improve Watson's health.

I dont know if this can be done but Gaine definitely needs to work on the phone. Also Gaine should be calling the Raiders and offering them a late rd pick for Melvin.

Hopefully they make one trade to help with the talent deficiencies on the OL. Lets put it this way, if the Texans want to be like the Pats they've got to start doing business like the Pats. Do you think Belichick would be making trades to address holes on his roster during the season? # Josh Gordon

Gaine may or may not be able to help the OL thru trade, but I know Melvin is available and would be an upgrade/depth piece.

Nice attempt to kill another thread, my aren't we cynical this morning.

Nope it was a joke to address the topic. In-season trades a rare as hell. That includes by Belichick. Josh Gordon is as fringe an example as possible. Even where they are made they are generally for backups/desparation starters. Hold-outs would be an exception on quality.

any avg or better O-line man for 2nd or 3rd or even lower draft available?
You watch the Pats and you will notice immediately how well protected Brady is on most plays.
Other than talent, it is likely the biggest reason for Brady's success.

If you say so,

# Jamie Collins

And he's a starter this year so they won't give him up cheap even though he's a yeoman who has been with 6 teams (2 twice) in 6 seasons.

Nope, and he's rumored to be on the block.

Would be a nice depth piece for a Texans secondary that has very little depth and could be had for a late rd pick.

# Traded Mack in season

Miller is doing well today so that means the Texans won't be interested in Bell. lol

I would look at making a move for Patrick Peterson.

I would give up a 1st'2nd/3rd for Peterson/Humphries. They would have a chance to be a true contender with these moves and they have the cap room.

They would still have a 2nd and a 4th to use on further strengthening the OL.

Again.......you do realize this is a fan forum based discussion. If you want to deal with just the facts close fan forums and read the newspapers, damnit! Texans Talk is a fan forum and is a place where fans can come and enjoy exchanging ideas regarding the Texans......the key, exchanging ideas!!!! This shouldn't have to be explained to a moderator.

I look at this forum as a place I can come in and enjoy talking Texans with fans of equal passion. A lot of these discussions will be us putting ourselves in the seat of Owner, GM and or HC. No harm or foul commutes here, just talking sports.

Yeah Einstein I get we're here for discussion and one fan's piece of the discussion, mine, is to point out in-season trades are rare. So you know where you can stick your "I can post anything and expect no countering feedback" attitude.

You act like you can post "hey why don't we just get a RB who runs for 10.5 yds every play. We'd win every game and save the money from a QB" and not expect people to tell you that's unrealistic.

Just a flat out arrogant post.

# Mack/Gordon/Looking to trade Cooper to Cowboys etc.. trades that have already happened or are rumored to happen and the trade deadline is a little over a week away.

Trades rarely happen isn't the same as trades never happen.

I just named 3 this yr and yes if you check it out trades do happen almost every yr. Carlos Hyde

Marcell Darues was traded last yr and I'm sure there are more examples but I'm busy this morning and dont have time to look it up.

From start of regular season games to trade deadline:

2015 - 10
2016 - 5
2017 - 11

This is basically one half of one percent of league wide rosters. Only 3 of these 26 total trades actually involved a player swap. The others were all players traded for picks.

Funny how I can recall off of the top of my head the Darues/Colins trades. Curious who was the other guy that was traded.

There's already been 2 player for picks trades and a highly rumored trade happening this yr, so maybe things are truly changing in the NFL.

I don’t think the Texans should do anything out of desperation, because they’re not desperate. The o-line is improving weekly as is the secondary. Don’t panic and trade away valuable draft picks.

Adding Humphries/Spriggs wouldn't be a desparation move. They are better than any OL currently on the roster and would probably be better than anybody they could draft in the 2nd rd. It's going to cost $$$$ which is why it wont happen but the Texans have the cap space/draft capital to get it done.

Protecting Watson should be job #1 and these guys are definitely upgrades and longterm starters because they are young. While the OL did play better against the Jags my $$$$ is on Watson getting hurt again behind this OL if they dont make a move. Are draft picks more important to you than Watson's health?

I would definitely call about Patrick Peterson. He fills a position of need and maybe AZ would do him a solid. I’d offer one of our 2s to see if they’d bite.

I would offer a 1st.

I know they need an OT and I would trade back into the 1st to get an OT if there was one I really liked. Even if that inclded trading both 2nd's. Or a 2020 draft pick.

You dont pass on a talent like Peterson if you get the chance to get him. He's special

PP has already said this season he is going no where, and the Cardinals reiterated that. There are some players who just mean to much to the team and city to let go of during a rebuild, PP is one of those guys for Arizona, at least that's how they are speaking of him.

But replying to the other topic being discussed in here without posting again. There has been a major uptick in in season trades in the NFL recently which is nice to see from a fan perspective. Hope the trend continues

Already knew he was going to request a trade. Read it somewhere last week.

yea, early in the year when it was first being rumored he said he didn't want to be traded, and the cards have been adamant all season every time they are asked that he will not be traded
