Will Fuller WR Notre Dame- 1st round 2016

BWAH HAHAHAHA Texans got them a Track Star with ITTY BITTY, TEENIE WEENIE, ITSY BITSY, TINY WHINY 8" hands. If you liked Jacoby Jones you're going to love Will Fuller.

Typical Texans PANIC trade up for Fuller when Treadwell and Doctson are still on the board.

Player Overview
A two-year starter in Notre Dame's power-spread offense, Fuller developed into the Irish's top playmaker the past two seasons, eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards both years and totaling 30 touchdowns in 29 career starts.
Strengths Weaknesses
STRENGTHS: Galloping acceleration to reach his top speed quickly. Takes the top off a defense vertically, stacking receivers and using multiple gears to pull away from defenders (averaged 20.3 yards per catch in 2015).

Finds the ball well in flight with above average tracking skills. Times his jumps to highpoint and rarely misjudges downfield throws. Works hard for body position to force defenders to go through him at the catch point. Achieves proper depth in his routes with the start/stop ability, change of direction skills and hesitation to create separation at the stem.

Strong plant-and-go quickness in his breaks. Very good understanding of field leverage, pressing receivers and generating space. Hits the jets quickly to erase pursuit angles on inside screens.

Won't break tackles, but drives his legs and lowers his pads to finish. Scrappy, willing blocker. Experienced lining up outside and in the slot. Driven individual and the hard work has paid off. Highly productive the past two seasons, leaving Notre Dame No. 2 on the school's all-time receiving touchdown list (30).

WEAKNESSES: Lean-muscled and lacks an ideal body type. Below average functional strength and can be knocked off his route. Smaller hands and prone to body catches with too many drops on his college film - equal opportunity dropper, losing focus on various types of passes. Unreliable in contested situations.

Shows some indecision as a ballcarrier and needs to get north-south quicker. Lacks the run power to pick up yards after initial contact. Bad habit of extending his arms downfield and pushing off. Willing blocker, but struggles to sustain and limited in this area. Doesn't offers experience as a return man.

IN OUR VIEW: A dynamic deep threat, Fuller has the uncanny ability to create separation late in his route, using an extra gear when the ball is in the air, a burst that most cornerbacks can't match. He is outstanding at tracking the deep ball and going and getting it, but the lapses in concentration and dropped passes are frustrating.

Although NFL teams will need to look past his average build and streaky ball-skills, Fuller is a big-time playmaker who has the speed to stretch the field and quickness to generate separation at the top of his routes, making him a borderline first-round pick.

I'm not excited with the pick, but I'll at least give him an opportunities to drop a few passes before I hate the pick. It will depend on how BoB uses him in the scheme (lol scheme) and how Os gets the ball to him. If it was our old noodle arm QBs where he would have to wait for the pass I would have absolutely hated this pick

I would rather have had Doctson, but I'm not going to pretend I know enough about Fuller to label him an impending bust. I will say this - as a receiver, you need to receive. I fkn HATE drops.

I don't know how I feel about Will Fuller. I love that he has the speed we need, but feel worried about the inconsistency they keep bringing up. Last thing we need is a bunch of dropped passes! In a way, I have a good feeling about this pick though. Maybe I'm just being optimistic.

The next track meet the Texans attend they're in good shape, next football game, not so much.

I think Doctson is the better WR. But you can't teach the type of speed Fuller has...

I'm sure OB has interesting ideas to use that speed to our advantage.

It could work out that Hopkins draws less attention than he would with Doctson because of the speed threat.

Texans selected Notre Dame WR Will Fuller with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2016 draft.

Fuller (6'0/186) spent three years at Notre Dame -- two as a starter -- capping his career with 144 catches for 2,512 yards (17.44 YPR) and 30 TDs. Fuller confirmed his blazing deep speed in Indy by running 4.32, but also showed his limitations with a disappointing 33 1/2-inch vertical while measuring in with short arms (30 3/4") and tiny hands (8 1/4"). A small, finesse burner, Fuller has a place in the NFL as a lid lifter, but his hands were an issue with 21 drops the past two seasons, and Fuller projects as a low-volume target. Apr 28 - 10:35 PM

if he can get coaching to cut down on his drops, he should be able to free up nuk. doctson would have been my pick after coleman went.

Funny the Houston draftniks are really opposite on this. Braddock hates it while Lance Z has him as his #1 WR.

Might be just me but this team NEEDS a Ted Ginn type player. This team was sooo slow with Kubiak and it looks like they are starting to mix in speed guys.

The Texans could have sat tight and taken either Fuller or Doctson. By trading up and taking Fuller, they're saying they wanted him specifically. I feel like if you have a guy targeted and you can go get him for a reasonable price, go do it. But you better be right. If Doctson turns out to be the pro that I think he will and Fuller ends up being the next in a long line of burners that can't catch, I will personally call them out every chance I get. I know the price wasn't much, but it isn't even about that.

You'll have to lose your mind over something else. I am happy to report that despite his slight frame, Fuller has an injury-free history.:texflag:

Is hand reduction surgery a thing yet? What about hand enlargement? Gonna have to forward some emails I have about enlarging various body parts.

Ted Ginn took a few years to learn how to catch.

I can enlarge various body parts for you........but hands are not one of them. If you need you hands reduced, I'd suggest a cheaper route than having me do it.........just get yourself a cigar cutter........and a bottle of whiskey for anesthesia.:tiphat:

As reported in the draft thread; Fuller had committed to OB and PSU before changing his mind. Hopefully that does mean that OB has plans for this kid. Wonder what # he'll wear.

Please don't let him return kicks. If he's not experienced doing it then I don't want him out there risking injury or muffs

Why did we trade one spot up ..

??? We could of got will or doctson either one ...????? Did we really need to burn a 6th

Clearly a scheme specific pick, which makes me somewhat like the pick because at least there is a hint of a plan. Losing next years 6th is really nothing at all

I don't understand all this negativity, but I guess I'm not surprised by it.

We finally ... FINALLY ... got a wideout who can take the top off a defense. He comes from a big school that played against good competition week in and week out. No injury issues.

I'm ecstatic about the pick!!

Guys are acting like this is a Darius heyward-bey type guy where he just can't catch at all. He had a few drops here and there plus He was the feature guy at Notre Dame.........and he excelled. he won't be the feature guy here so he should be fine.

Catching is mostly a matter of concentration and I have no doubt the kid can and will be able to get better with coaching and an NFL workout program.

The floor is Ted Ginn Jr. The ceiling is Desean Jackson.
