Dak Prescott QB Mississippi ST

He reminds me of Tebow but with better throwing mechanics. He doesn't have the all star supersquad that Tebow had, but watching him right now he looks like a great college player, and possibly an okay NFL'er at best.

He'll probably be a utility guy on the next level, but his leadership skills are off the charts..Love watching him play.

Definitely has the size and skill set to be a TE at the NFL level if he can put in the work to make the switch. I don't project him as a QB.

I don't see anything about him that says TE.

Same thing with Tebow and same thing with Logan Thomas.

Just looks like a big athletic guy who is marginal at QB.

Has he caught some passes that I've missed? I think the only QB that I've seen who could be a TE in the NFL was Andrew Luck and who the hell would want to do that?

Thomas was actually the #1 ranked TE in the country coming out of high school. He was recruited to Virginia Tech as a TE, and only switched to QB after a redshirt year out of necessity because the team needed a backup behind Tyrod Taylor.

I wouldn't have drafted Thomas to play QB but out of the three he is the most natural at the position, in my opinion.

He actually caught 2 TDs last year and has already caught another one this year. He actually looks pretty natural catching the ball. I'm not saying it would be a clean transition. He's never played the position. He probably has no clue how to block. But with his size and athleticism it's probably his best shot at a NFL career.

Are his mechanics that bad that he wont make it as an NFL QB?. I have only noticed him this year and thought he was Cam Newton'ish. But I'll take your word since you mention you saw him play last year. Thanks for the info.

He's somewhere between Newton and Tebow. Hard to tell where exactly because his offense does a great job of hiding his flaws. We won't really know until he starts doing drills and workouts with scouts and running more pro oriented stuff.

He's 6'2" 230. He'd be a really small TE.

More like a LB or S.

He would be but those guys exist. He's the same size as Jordan Reed. And he's no smaller than Michael Robinson was coming out of Penn St. Plus, there's no reason to think he couldn't gain a little weight if he really did make the switch.

Who knows how accurate his college measurement is anyway. We'll have to wait til he eventually has a combine/pro day.

I still like his chances better as a FB/H Back than as a QB. Closer to Delanie Walker than a true, natural TE.

Just curious about people's opinion on Prescott. Could he be a sleeper prospect?

He has great leadership ability and could be a dual threat. He needs to improve his passing game but he is a hard worker by all accounts.

I love him. Some folks see Tebow, I see Donovan McNabb

Looks like another sit and develop candidate. I've seen him make some excellent throws, particularly on the run, but the offense he ran in college wasn't great preparation for the NFL. Other than that, I don't have much of an opinion on him.

He was a top 3 prospect at one time. Maybe a week or two during the season. But I guess since we can only have a "top 3" he's being pushed down to 2nd & 3rd round.

His team is number one in the nation so I thought he deserved his own thread. Don't think he fits into the Texans current scheme with his run first mentality but wow can he run.

Some highlights...
I sure wish they'd outlaw music on sports videos. It's very distracting if you like GOOD MUSIC.

Those Tim Tebow comparisons that were directed at Dak Prescott during his college career are no longer meant as compliments.

The Mississippi State star is one of eight quarterbacks at this year's Reese's Senior Bowl, which takes place Saturday at Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium. And in South team workouts this week leading up to the game, he's trying to show that he's not just another Tebow — that is, a spread offense star in college who does not have the passing skills to make it as an NFL quarterback.

"I can make all the throws on the field, not just set up from the (shot)gun," Prescott said Tuesday. "That's something I want to show the people here."

Turn the sound off. Not everyone shares your taste in music
I suppose that would be true if we defined MUSIC the same way.

But thanks to Texian for the suggestion to use Mute. I just hadn't thought of it as anything other than a way to hold a REAL conversation with another human being.

It doesn't matter how you define it. If you don't like it don't listen. The idea that people should adjust to your tastes because you don't like theirs is asinine and arrogant. Not to mention flat out rude

So I should adjust to yours and it's NOT RUDE, ASININE and ARROGANT?

Besides, I didn't suggest switching to MY favorite, I suggested NO "MUSIC." A disconnect from distraction. FOCUS!

I've never seen someone more sensitive about music before. Grow a pair already. Sheesh

Here's another hightlight that shows more throws.
For the sound sensitive people, yes it has rap music.

1. It's not mine, I've never listened to it.
2. You proposed that they OUTLAW music on the video's. That is asking for the world to confirm to you. What's next, burning all books besides the bible? Will all versions of the bible pass your criteria or only the King James Version?
3. Are you above the simple task of clicking the mute button or turning your speaker off?

Stop trying to tell others how to live and "FOCUS" and get your head out of your ass and be part of society and not some prima dona self righteous prick

“Coming from the spread offense, I can play in a pro system, I can play from under center and I can make all the throws,” Prescott said. “I’m a leader. I’m just going to play and be myself out here and let it play out.”
Prescott’s production is hard to overlook. He’s threw for 9,376 career yards, 70 touchdowns and rushed for 2,521 yards as a three-year starter in the always-competitive SEC.

“I’ve talked to about 10 teams -- Cowboys, Texans, Jaguars,” Prescott said. “It’s exciting to have their staff coach me and to understand the terminology in the NFL and what’s different and just move on and get ready for the next level.”

Looks like a shorter Carson Wentz.

& as an aside, it's not the rap music that really bothers me on this one. It's that Nasally, whiny voice he's trying to sing with.

Question for my fellow draftniks and la z boy GMs, how bothered are you that Dak has never really taken a snap from under center??

I understand that, but PM pretty much for over a decade has handled business from the shotgun( not comparing the two though)
Taking a snap from under center is a timing mechanism for the run and the pass game. A QB taking 3 steps to hand off to a RB allows OL to make their blocks, open holes. The 3, 5 , 7 step drops allow WR to run specifically timed routes, etc, etc etc. Peyton still takes a respectable amount of snaps from under center.

Hyperbole of course.

Back to Prescott....

I didn't see a Tebow clone watching the Senior Bowl. More of a bigger Russell Wilson type. Dak kept his eyes downfield when escaping pressure and he doesn't have the unfixable flaws in his delevery like Tebow.

Regarding the "not taking snaps from under center " argument, didn't Mariota debunk that last season? It's not having to learn how to perform open heart surgery. Overblown. Way overblown.

Yeah, Prescott would be a project. But I would rather spend a pick on a guy like Prescott who has a bonus of plus athleticism if he develops, rather than a statue like Savage. Not that the Texans have time to go with another 3 year project.

Not that the Texans have time to go with another 3 year project.

The Texans, AKA Bob McNair suffers from tunnel vision. Bob's main focus is the season at hand. Making a decision that would have a major positive effect on the team in 2018-19 is something completely foreign to McNair and the Texans.

I was thinking more of a smallish Cam Newton. I think Wilson is more of a scrambler looking to throw. Cam & Dak are more likely to tuck & run if they see daylight.

Flacco, Roethlisberger, Derek Carr. It depends on how much of his play book the coach wants to alter or hold back.

I get what you're saying. It all depends on whether the HC feels the prospect can help him win. They're all projects though, more or less.

Not a big deal, but like Fitzpatrick I don't consider Savage a statue. More of a rugby type runner though. Good for a few yards here or there, but nothing to fear.

Prescott looked a lot smoother than I expected. Still needs a lot of development though. I watched him as a sophomore/junior and completely wrote him off as I saw Tebow 2.0. Barely watched him at all this year but he's made a lot of progression. He forced me to change my mind on his future at QB.

Charles Davis said as much as well. He had him as an H-Back coming into the season but now sees him as a mid-round developmental QB.

Same here he's changed my mind. I wouldn't mind drafting him honestly. Yes I know he is a project, but if he develops he could be great. His leadership is off the charts, something I feel we've never had at the position, and we've definitely never had someone that athletic back there. To me it's a high risk high reward guy

There's a lot of guys in the class that seemingly present a potential high reward. To me, he's mostly risk and definitely a project. I'd be ok with him as a second QB drafted but not as our main QB acquisition this offseason.

He's got some wheels and looks tough. That funky throwing motion is weird but reminds me of Philip rivers' motion. At this point I'm just excited about the prospect of almost anyone but hoyer.

Dummy got arrested for a DUI.. How stupid can you be!!. He cost himself some $$..

Yeah. Don't know all the details yet, but if it's true, he really screwed up. He had a lot of teams checking him out and may have gone in the 2nd round. Now....

I hate drunk drivers. If a cop pulled a guy over because his driving was so bad, then I think we're lucky that f'ckr didn't kill anybody.

That said, I'll advise Dak to get a designated driver in the future, but I'd still draft him where I find value.

Well, his value just dropped considerably. It takes a real dipshit to not take the utmost effort to walk straight and narrow during the most critical time of his entire life, while everyone is watching. Young kid or not, his character has been exposed.
