Peppers in a 3-4 will be interesting. So will him lining up next to Clay Matthews. What a nightmare for an o-line.Source: Julius Peppers has agreed to terms with the Green Bay Packers on a 3-year deal.
RB Toby Gerhart got the best deal in FA of any player who did not start a game in 2013, signing a 3-year deal with Jax for $10.5 million.
NFL teams have cut 10 players who were 16-game starters in 2013. Nine are in their 30s. Redskins C Will Montgomery became the 10th Friday.
Of the 20 biggest contracts handed out thus far in free agency, only 5 went to incumbent Pro Bowlers: Talib, Byrd, Albert, Whitner, Verner.
Return ace Trindon Holliday is visiting the Falcons today
Ben Tate got a 2 year deal from the Browns.

@Browns yessss! Welcome @BenTateRB to Cleveland! Can't wait to hand you the rock!
#Falcons have to be still looking for veteran pass rushers...
I think we can conclude that the Patriots aren’t going to shy away from anyone due to character concerns. They’ll at least hear someone out.
Neither team nor player's agent will confirm, but Broncos are expected to sign former Steelers WR Emmauel Sanders, per league sources.
as per usual @AdamSchefter is way out in front, source confirms #Broncos have come to an agreement with former #Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders
And now Patriots have reached agreement on a three-year deal with former Panthers WR Brandon LaFell, per source.
The Panthers entered free agency needing a left tackle to replace the retired Jordan Gross and a receiver to step in for the cast-off Smith. To this point they've signed neither, while watching five starters (counting Smith) go elsewhere.
No. 2 wideout Brandon LaFell became the latest starter to bolt, agreeing to a three-year deal with New England on Saturday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Patriots also made a play for Smith, so Bill Belichick must see something in the Panthers' receiving corps that Gettleman didn't.
Meanwhile, the smoldering remains of the Panthers' receiving depth chart now includes just one player who's caught a pass in an NFL game. That would be Kealoha Pilares, who has two career catches for 42 yards and missed all of last season following knee surgery.
Gettleman seems to be putting a lot of faith in Tavarres King and Marvin McNutt, who almost caught a pass against the Falcons in Week 17...
Agree, will be interesting to see his upside.LaFell is going to be really useful in that NE offense. Wouldn't be surprised to see him with a 70-1000-6 season within the next two years.
Emmanuel Sanders is expected to sign with the Broncos on Sunday, but the process that led him there left the other teams involved fuming and crying foul. One team official claimed Sanders' agent broke "every rule in negotiations."
Agent Steve Weinberg, on behalf of the wide receiver, accepted a deal with the Chiefs in principle, according to one team source. Weinberg then engaged in negotiations with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to another source involved in the process.
While shopping the Chiefs' offer to the Bucs, Weinberg never explained that he had already accepted the terms of Kansas City's offer. Later in the night, Sanders' agent had agreed to terms with the Broncos, which is where he is currently headed. Sanders and Weinberg also rankled the 49ers by agreeing to visit, then blowing it off.
"This was one of the worst situations in modern football negotiations," one executive involved said. "Totally wrong. This needs to be stopped."
Reached at his home late Saturday, Weinberg declined to comment on the record when informed of the allegations.
The Dallas-based agent recently was reinstated by the NFL Players Association, which had barred and decertified him in 2003 because it had reportedly found he diverted assets to an offshore account during a dispute with a partner and collected a fee from a client prematurely...

16. Houston Texans
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $12.1 million
Rivaling the Bengals as the NFLs least active free agent squad, the Texans $12 million in available cap space would increase to over $15 million with the release of Matt Schaub. Although they have the available cap space to make a play for a free agent, Houston seems content standing still. The Texans do have a fair amount of talent in place as well as the #1 overall selection in Mays draft. Their biggest offseason concern (aside from finding a franchise quarterback) is likely locking up J.J. Watt (a free agent after 2014) to a long-term deal.
17. Denver Broncos
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $11.7 million (figure doesnt include the signing of Emmanuel Sanders)
18. New England Patriots

25. Dallas Cowboys
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $7.7 million
If were all going to bash Jerry Jones for his perpetual cap mismanagement, then weve got to credit him when he does something right. While parting ways with DeMarcus Ware may have been a no-brainer due to the $7.4 million he saved Dallas against the 2014 cap, releasing a franchise cornerstone is never easy. Jones also designated Miles Austin as a June 1st cut. While this will give the Cowboys needed flexibility to sign their incoming rookies when June 1st comes around, the downside is that Austin will still count for $5.236 million against the salary cap in 2015.
Dallas current cap situation isnt enough for them to bring in any difference-making free agents (though you never know with Jones). However, they may have put themselves in a position to extend either Dez Bryant or Tyron Smith before their values inevitably increase..
26. Kansas City Chiefs
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $6.6 million
27. San Francisco 49ers
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $4.4 million
28. Chicago Bears
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $4.2 million
29. San Diego Chargers
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $3.8 million
30. Pittsburgh Steelers
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $2.9 million
31. Detroit Lions
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $2.6 million
32. New Orleans Saints
Approximate Current Available Cap Space - $1.9 million
For league minimum, with Browns still paying him some money. As @toddarcher said, Brandon Weeden struck a two-year deal with the Cowboys. He turns 31 in October.
Another first-round QB in Weeden taken just 2 seasons ago in 2012, and now he's effectively a bust, relegated to a back-up or maybe at best a "project".Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer

I tell you what, it's difficult figuring out which one of these QBs can make it in the NFL, which ones can't ?
Giants are giving CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie a 5-year, $39M deal, including $15M gtd, per source.
Raiders giving former Packers WR James Jones a three-year deal.

Former Broncos return ace Trindon Holliday has agreed to terms with the Giants on a 1-year deal.
Giants make official the signing of S Quintin Demps. Should move in immediately as their No. 1 kickoff returner.
Wonder if they'd make a trade to move up and get Watkins...?
Last sack 11/2011, achilles, conditioning issues.NT B.J. Raji's one-year, $4 million contract with #Packers contained just $500,000 in guaranteed money.
Bengals not matching Browns offer sheet for Wr Andrew Hawkins. He's a Brown.

This is a surprise.
Someone will snatch him up faster than I can type this.
He's probably got the 2nd most field goals in Reliant behind Brown.
No doubt.
Pissed me off more times than I want to remember.
Didn't VY beat us with 8 Bironas FGs in one game? or was that another QB?
Edit - it was Kerry Collins.
Jared Allen's agent, Ken Harris, texted his client will "consider Seahawks offer along with the others, and make a decision this weekend."
Jared Allen has reached agreement with Seahawks.
Could alcohol play a part in that reason?FOr some reason I want us to resign Kevin walter ...
FOr some reason I want us to resign Kevin walter ....... if not us u know hes going to balty LOL
Peppers in a 3-4 will be interesting. So will him lining up next to Clay Matthews. What a nightmare for an o-line.
Hopkins had 52 catches for 802 yards. The last time Kevin Walter had 800+ yards: 2008. That was the only year Walter had more yardage than Hopkins did his rookie year. And I've heard talk on this board of trading Hopkins.. Crazy people.
I don't get this unless if the Packers run a 4-3 scheme as well. I don't see Peppers at 6'7" 290-lbs rushing off the edge like a LB...maybe a DE like watt?

Nothing crazy at all about it. Sometimes you give up something to get something.
If you're happy with Hopkins (no reason not to be) then you don't do that.
If you think Hopkins will be as good or better than Watkins you don't do that.
If you covet Clowney or one of the top QB's you don't do that.
If you can't find someone to give you a 1st for Hopkins then you can't do that.
BUT.... If you believe that Watkins will be better than Hopkins, don't see another player at the top of the draft that you think is better than Watkins, and could find someone who would do it (give you a 1st for Hopkins) then it's not crazy at all. Besides, it was just an idea to kick around.
I liked the other scenario suggested in that thread better, the one where you get the Browns to trade up with you and snatch both of their 1st round picks, take Watkins, get your defender, and then Garoppolo or some other QB you like as a project in the second round.
That's the 2008 Walter though...he's long gone.Yeah, but Hopkins isn't nearly as good at run-blocking as Walter was. That adds at least 200 yards to Kevin's production, making him the equivalent of a 1000 yard receiver.
Is he a possibility?
Bironas getting cut makes no sense to me.
