#1. Teddy Bridgewater – QB, Louisville, 6-2 214
- Very NFL-ready QB prospect. Efficiently and effectively ran a pro-style offense in college. Ahead of the game as far as his ability to read the defense pre-snap and get his team in the correct play. Makes his reads quickly and gets the ball out quickly. Deadly against the blitz. Athletic enough to buy time but always keeps his eyes downfield. Very accurate passer with great touch. His release point is lower than I would like but I can deal with it. He’s not prototypical size but he has shown toughness and durability in the past. Hands are acceptable size but smaller than you would like. His downfield accuracy leaves a little to be desired but I think it’s a fixable issue. High floor, likely to be a solid game manager at worst. High ceiling as well, as a cerebral franchise QB who can pick apart defenses quickly and efficiently from the pocket.

#2. Morgan Moses – RT, Virginia, 6-6 314
- Great size with long arms that he uses effectively. Uses his hands well. Has good feet and flexibility. Can keep a speed rusher from getting to the edge. Moves well in small areas but not a fantastic athlete. Very strong. Good run blocker in the interior. Not good in space. Misses blocks in the run game that he has to reach for. Limited athleticism shows when he is asked to move. With improved technique he has very high upside at RT.

#3. Yawin Smallwood – ILB, Connecticut, 6-2 246
- Long frame with long arms for an inside linebacker. Uses those arms well to avoid and get off blocks. Good tackler in space who wraps up. Fluid athlete who is effective in coverage. Shows raw undeveloped skills as a pass rusher. Sometimes overruns plays. Could add some more weight to his frame without sacrificing athleticism. Not a thumper. He tackles well but it’s by technique and not brute strength. Has a lot of experience. Would be a great fit as a 34 ILB who is asked to play coverage and rush the passer.

#4. Jeremiah Attaochu – OLB, Georgia Tech, 6-3 252
- Long body with long arms for his size. Has good range and can make plays from side to side. Quick, athletic, flexible pass rusher. Not strong against the run but he has improved. Doesn’t get off blocks very well. Very raw football IQ. Gets lost often. Great fit as a 34 edge rusher who can pin his ears back but occasionally play in coverage.

#5. Phillip Gaines, CB – Rice, 6-0 193
- Explosive athlete. Showed great man coverage skills his final year of college. Sticks with his man and routinely gets his hand on the ball, but needs to get better at turning that into INTs. First team all-conference his final two years. Relies on his athleticism too much because he is a far superior athlete than the WRs he covered. Not a great tackler and doesn’t like to attack blockers. Very little exposure to pro style route concepts or passing attacks. Huge mental curve coming up for him. Raw skill is there but will need a lot of development. Good fit in a scheme that uses more man coverage than zone. Should start out as a #3 or #4 corner who only plays in man coverage. With the right development he could be a #1 CB or at least a solid #2.

#5 (comp). Wesley Johnson – OG, Vanderbilt, 6-5 297
- Lean athlete who played tackle in college but has short arms. Fantastic athlete at his size. Moves very well in all directions. Great feet. Can block while moving. Great body control and use of leverage. High football IQ. Can play multiple positions. Not very strong at the point of attack. Has to excel with technique because he won’t overpower anyone. Will get pushed back if he doesn’t get ideal positioning on target. Best fit is LG or C, but he could step in at LT for short spurts.

#6. Zach Kerr – NT, Delaware, 6-1 326
- Thickly built prospect with surprising quickness and flexibility. He actually has decent pass rush moves for a NT and may be able to push the pocket a little bit at the next level. When he keeps his pads low he plows through blockers. Can shed blocks and hold two gaps. Great motor. Doesn’t take plays off. When he doesn’t use his natural leverage he can be beaten at the point of attack. Needs to play high less often. Competition is a concern. Started out at Maryland but transferred due to academics. Can play right away as a DE in a 34 and with the right correction of technique could be a great fit as a two gap NT.

#7. Tim Cornett – RB, UNLV, 6-0 209
- Four year contributor with at least 6 TDs in each season. First in school history and second in conference history in rushing yards. Earned those yards the hard way. Developed great patience and vision playing behind a terrible offensive line. Knows how and where to search for the hole even if it doesn’t appear to be there. Shows the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield but never picked up many yards after the catch. Explosive moving forward but not great moving laterally. Won’t make defenders miss in the open field. Lightly recruited in high school at Galena Park. Can play early as a third down back who may be able to work himself into a rotation. Probably not ever your #1 back but a useful player who can catch and convert in short yardage situations.

#7 (comp). Jeoffrey Pagan – DE, Alabama, 6-3 310
- Huge prospect who is not easily moved. Good hands. Anchors against the run and can hold two gaps. Very slow feet. Will never be a pass rush threat. Left school early despite no indication that he would be highly drafted. Was a rotational player for most of his career. Severe knee injury in high school, but he hasn’t had problems since. Fits as a two gap run stuffer as either a 34 end or 43 NT.

I like your Texans picks, though I'm kinda ehhhh on Smallwood, he's a bit slow for me. You've got Hageman falling to the mid 2nd round, if he's available I'd run to the podium at 2.1. I think Hageman is going to be a beast in the NFL. Studying this mock also shows the level of talent that will be available in the mid rounds, there's going to be some good prospects down into the 4th and 5th rounds. Nice work.

I think Hageman looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. When I watch his film I see JAG. At some point his size and athleticism is worth the risk, but I prefer football players to big athletes.

This draft is absolutely solid into the deep rounds. There will be starters that come out of the 6th round of this draft.

I don't try to predict what other people would do. My mock is a representation of what I would do if I were in control of each team.

Crichton plays with intensity and he has an awesome story, but I'm just not as high on him as most are. I think he is a solid but unspectacular player. In a less loaded draft he would be drafted higher.

Personally I would be for fixing the OL/DL and drafting a couple of talented/troubled guys like Leonard/Crowell/Lyrela in rds 5 thru 7. You would still have holes but you would set a foundation that has never existed since the teams inception.

NO loses some skill guys but Brees has always been the one that makes that offense go. As long as he has Graham I don't think it really matters who the skill guys are. They've already gone through plenty since he's been there and he hasn't missed a beat.

I think they need to upgrade that defense and give Ryan some more pieces to work with.

Did you watch Yankey at the Combine? I saw him in some of the drills and he's got very slow feet. He did not look athletic to me at all. I agree his future is at RG, but I don't see RT potential in him at all.

The combine didn't change my perception of him. After studying him I've always thought that he's a RG. Some team may try him at RT out of desperation. I don't think he's likely to stick there long term and will eventually end up at RG regardless.

In a scenario where we go OL in the 3rd I'll take JuWaun James.

Bingo. Nobody else wants to say this out loud but I'm with you. This isn't a playoff team next year, in my estimation. Use our high draft picks in a loaded draft to build a long term foundation instead of trying to make this a quick fix with only a short term plan.

I'm #3 on this motion. I think this is a minimum of 2 yrs. and more likely 3 yrs. in the turn around/rebuild. The offense has holes at very key positions, QB, OT at a minimum, and possibly OG and TE, while the defense needs to be rebuilt for Crennels 2 gap style of 3-4 that I assume he's running as base. Also if we get the expected comp. picks I really hope Smith uses our own 5,6,and 7th rounders to go after an additional 3rd or 4th round pick. I see the draft as:

1. Teddy Bridgewater-QB
2. Best defensive front 7 player (DT or LB) unless one of the top OT's falls to us.
3. JaWaun James-OT, as much as I'd like to wait til 4.1 for him, we just can't take that chance.
4-7. Best available defensive players in each round since every defensive position is a position of need.

I also wonder if O'Brien will try to lean the draft heavily on one side of the ball or the other, trying to fix one side while doing a patchwork on the other side realizing that we have more needs than picks. Or will he try to make it a balanced draft between the offense and defense, doing a patchwork on both sides.

If the draft played out like that, id have a hard time passing Amaro at 2.1. I feel since the gm drafted quess and williams,one will be the rt and the other the swing tackle.
My fight has been marcus smith. I think he the best olb pass rusher in the draft. He's very comfortable standing and dropping. I have him mid 2nd to mid 3rd. The texans might just have to take him at 3.1 and get either sims,mcgill,james,or mccullers at 4.

Whether it's a play-off team or not, I believe we should use our draft picks to put the best possible talent on the team. It should be a system, a method that doesn't change for short term gains, it should be a process.

This is interesting. I wasn't even paying attention to JFF. I told my friends a week ago I believe Manziel is going to Cincy at 24 or Cleveland at 26. It's cool to see I'm not the only person thinking he drops that far.

I have my Texans mock and in it I don't have an OT being drafted until the 5th. There are TOO many tackles in FA this year. I have no doubt the Texans make a move on one of them. Hopefully signed before next Monday.

Wouldn't have a problem with this draft at all. There are lots of contributors here. I'd like to see DL addressed earlier although I really like Kerr as a developmental prospect.
