8 Texans made the Pro Bowl

Heath Shuler

SPEED KILLS
8 Texans made the Pro Bowl

Duane Brown, Arian Foster, J.J. Watt, Johnathan Joseph and Andre Johnson will go as starters

Cool. Glad to see it and all that. But it doesn't mean squat if they actually are in the damn pro bowl because it means they are out of the playoffs.

Reminds me of the Pardee Oilers teams --- stacked with marquee players, but no trophies.

The playoffs haven't even started, but you can just sense that this team is slated for a disappointing finish.

Ahh, the joys of the NFL in Houston. All hat and no cattle.

Lets dont be like the Mayans and try to predict the future :kitten:

Congrats to Pro Bowl starters:

Duane Brown, tackle
Arian Foster, running back
Andre Johnson, wide receiver
Johnathan Joseph, cornerback
J.J. Watt, defensive end

Pro Bowl backups:

Chris Myers, center
Matt Schaub, quarterback
Wade Smith, guard

and Pro Bowl alternates:

Bryan Braman, special teams
James Casey, fullback
Owen Daniels, tight end
Danielal Manning, safety
Antonio Smith, defensive end

Great job, Texans! But Schaub on that roster? A bit surprising.

Not really. He's 4th in the AFC in QB rating and 3rd in Total QB rating. Plus he's on the AFC's best team which gives him more public awareness.

I probably would have gone with Rapistberger by a narrow margin without any bias playing into it, but I'm never unhappy when that dude loses out.

Congratulations but I hope the Texans are busy preparing for another high profile game in New Orleans instead :shades:

That's awesome. I'm glad they are getting recognized for their individual achievements.

Now they need to put that crap behind them & go get the ultimate team award.

Well he'll there goes out cap space :kitten:

Seriously, I hope we are busy that week

Fair point.

So does prime time televised games:kitten: Keep in mind that the writers, players and coaches voted Dec 21 and 22........before the last monumental debacle.

Well then OD is in as well because Heath Miller has a blown ACL.

Shocked to see Alex Smith isn't on the list.

I see what you did there..lol

Listening to some fans in here and on the radio in this city, you'd think that Schaub wasn't fit to Qb a high school team much less be selected by his peers to play in the nfl allstar game...not bad at all for glorified game manager.

Aside from the Manning and Brady, this was a down year for QBs in the AFC. This might have been Schaub's least impressive season from a stat perspective since 2008.

Which is mainly due to Kubiak's obsession to the running game. Kubiak has always wanted to be that way, and we were finally able to do it. We've had the luxury of having nice leads going into the 2nd halves of games and then he'd run it the entire 2nd half. Our defense has been able to hold a lot of teams to where we didn't need to throw it as much.

Stop being such a wimp. The Texans have nothing to do with the Oilers.

Schaub chosen for Pro Bowl ... see, the Mayans were right ... it just happened a few days late ...

How soon we forget!!!

You guys are the perfect example of WHY TT is becoming my least fav MB to read. So much negativity!! We're 12-3, 8 players on the Probowl team in some sort of fashion, having one of the BEST years EVER in Houston football, and all you guys wanna do is bring it all down by being hateful, cynical, and just downright bitchy!!!.. Enjoy the ride guys, it might not happen again for a very long time!

Word! and repped!

I hope they all dont play that game if they go because they are out of the playoffs....
I could care less for the game itsself....they should just have a presentation of the players at a big dinner or something. The game itsself is a joke......not worth having your starters possibly get hurt and out for the next season. Maybe they will come down with "injuries" and not be able to play game. Get rid of the game if you ask me....

Remember when having players in the pro bowl was the only thing to hang your hat on as Texans fans?

Yeah, those days sucked. I agree with SheTexan. Enjoy the ride. You can still critically analyze past games, but let's not lose sight of how great this season has been for our franchise. Hopefully it only gets better!

Do you ever talk football or is your specialty talking trash to other fans?

He never said the two franchises were connected. The "Reminds me of the..." that started his post alludes to similarities, not connections.

no offence but its easy to be that 'intuitive' when 31/32 teams have disappointing finishes to the season every yr

Yes, I do. I don't understand why there's so much hostility over these last few games when you consider the entire season. Sure, we need to be hot right now and all, but we have like two weeks to be ready for that at home. We're going to be in a great position to get a win and try to get some momentum. I hate some of the things I've seen on the field as of late just like anyone else, but I think this Texans team has shown enough resilience this year to feel like they can turn it around and get back to dominance. Will they do it? We'll see, but we'll be at home in game one.

LOL my friend!! I know EXACTLY who the naysayers are.

It's JUST A GAME, ya win some and ya lose some, BUT, you never give up believing you can win it all, that's what being competitive is all about.. I would rather have a little "blind" faith, and be accused of being a "homer" than be miserable because my team lost a game or two they should have won. NO NFL team is EVER picture perfect, NONE of them, not even the undefeated Dolphins back in the day, and many have gone on to WIN the SB with less then steller records than we have. (Giants 2011!!)

Until it's all over, I'll choose to BELIEVE we have as much of a chance to make it to NOLA as anyone else. If I can't believe that, then why watch the games in the first place! JMO!

I know what you mean, but I do not begrudge people for gripping about things.

This is a city that is desperately hungry for an NFL championship, and I think all of this negative emotion is born from the basic fact that fans really care about this team. Everyone has a different way of expressing those emotions and, due to our city's history, many fans have been conditioned their whole lives to expect disappointment.

I think people really want to believe in this team, but there are some troubling signs that cause doubt.

And, always remember, forums and talk radio only represent about 0.01% of fans. The vocal fans are loud, but we are really a very small minority of the whole. Most folks I talk to day in and day out are really excited about this season and pumped up for the playoffs.

My reputation as an optimist and a Kubiak defender is nearly unparalleled.

I see plenty to be worried/frustrated about right now. I differ from many in that I don't get angry about it, but this team clearly has taken some steps back the past month or two.

I'm quite concerned about the game on Sunday because we haven't played a good game on either side of the ball since Thanksgiving (when the offense showed up). I'm hopeful the team can turn it around. I can see this team getting to the Superbowl as the #1 seed. However, it would be miraculous for this team to win three playoff games (2 on the road) as the #3 seed. There simply is no evidence since the Cushing injury that this team has what it takes to beat three good teams in a row.

So, Sunday is very big, IMO.

Regardless, it has been a good season and I love where the organization is headed... (11-12 picks this year, dead money off the books, lots of young players). Still, for those people desperate for a championship, this year's window looks a lot smaller than it did two months ago.

Not true. Many teams are happy to simply make the playoffs. But a little over a week ago the Texans were overwhelmingly favored to be the #1 seed and at least slightly favored to be the AFC representative in the Super Bowl. Expectations were different for the Texans than for those 31 other teams
