Week 2 VS Jaguars. Lets Predict :)

EllisUnit

Vote RED!!!
I know its early and we JUST got win #1, but what the hell.

The Jaguars looked ok today but i credit that to the (vikings). We will have to stop MJD and Jennings, which i think they will get theirs i still see this as a pretty big win.

Although i do see foster gaining about 120 yards on the ground.

Texans 31

Jaguars (17) - Only because our D cant slow down the Jags run game.

Lol, probably not the best time to ask people for predictions. The Jags are an improved team. We'll have to play a lot better next week to win. That's the only prediction I can provide right now.

Yep they looked top notch while losing to the Vikings.

I watched quite a bit of that game. It is difficult to win on the road in the NFL and they took the lead with around 30 seconds left. To think we're just going to stroll in there and beat them with no problem is foolish. We'll have to play better.

I'm not saying it will be easy but they are far from a good team.

Great response...... I'm guessing you didn't watch the game. This is the NFL where on any given Sunday any team can win. I'm sure the 8 point favored Saints didn't think they would get beat by a rookie QB and a no name running back too.

I understand that but that will not change my opinion that the Jags are not good.

We got beat by a 2-14 team on the road last year. A team doesn't have to be good to win a game. The Jags also beat the Ravens down at home last year. They now have a good receiver and a QB with a year's worth of experience under his belt. We'll probably be 3-5 point favorites, but that doesn't mean they're just going to show up and give us the game. It will be their home opener and they'll be ready to play.

You are not listening are you? I am not saying we can't lose or that it will be easy. Simply that I think we are much better they are not good and we will win.

No I'm not listening because this is a message board and I can't hear you. I did read it however and you're not getting my point. My initial post only stated that they are an improved team and we'll need to play better to win. You took it somewhere else making a sarcastic reply about them looking top notch today. I'm going to chalk it up to you being drunk or dumb. Either way I'm moving on.

I think we'll come out with the win, but it'll be close mainly for the following reasons:

1. MJD and Jennings will get theirs against out run D.

2. Their run D and defense in general is fairly stout, their problems last year was on the offensive side of the ball.

3. A combination of us typically not playing our best in Jacksonville and them playing us decently on their home turf. Last year, I believe it came down to McCain having to make a play on 4th down as they were driving in the final minute of the game.

No negativity, just saying we need to play better. If you polled all of the Texans players I'm sure they would agree.

Yeah you read my other thread,,,,,i feel the same way, Thing is i know they can play better so i am not to concerned.

This is true, and the big reason why I'm not worried about the season going forward. On the positive side Newton played well today. I'm honestly getting excited about his potential. The Jags game is going to boil down to execution. MJD will probably be getting the start so we'll have our hands full keeping him in check. If we can get in Gabbert's head I think we'll be good. I don't want him to get any confidence in the first qtr.

divison road game all i know its going to be alot tougher

Exactly. A road division game is never a gimme game.

This is a huge game, all division games are, so I hope this team packs their big boy pants for the plane ride to Florida.

I haven't watched the Jags game, yet, so I might change my mind about all this.

I'm very disheartened to think that Gabbert might actually have improved from last year. I wanted him to stink up the joint for a few years of sub 4-12 football before they pulled the plug on the experiment and went a new direction.

But we've shown that we've got to improve in all phases of the game. The Jags game is going to be a war. They're going to play us hard. They're going to be hard to run against and they're going to get off the bus handing the ball to MJD.

I expect a long, brutal day of football but I think we win. 24-17.

Texans 38, Jaguars 16

This is the game the Texans offense explodes. Puts together a solid four quarters of play. The red-zone offense comes through with an impressive 5-for-6 in the red zone -- 5 TDs and one FG.

A 2-0 record. Been there and done that. I want to start off 3-0, 4-0, 5-0 for the first time in franchise history. The Texans have a lot to prove in this road game against a division rival.

Based on What ?

How good do you think the vikings are ?

How good did we think the Dolphins were?

Yet we all had a bit of a growing concern until those 2nd quarter turnovers happened, which opened things up.

I'm done predicting easy wins. Every game is a test. Our guys have to think likewise, or we'll end up wondering how we blew the season.

"My prediction for the game?"

"Pain"

Hey, Clubber worked last week so let's see if he can go 2 for 2!

Texans 21
Jags 24 Homer pick!

I hope for a close, entertaining game, and add a no injury game! Jags are pretty beat up..injury bug is as big a FL cockroach this year! Seems the Jags have been the walking IR team every season lately! Texans should be able to chew up the Jags 2nd defense...injuries, the lack of a pass rush, and the LB core having major issues covering the pass....also, add the horrible non-tackle/no wrapping up..made my blood boil yesterday. Is it me, or are these professional players forgetting the fundimentals of playing football?

I think it's the lack of full contact drills in TC.

To me, the most revelant thing this coming Sunday is how the Texans D does against MJD. Normally this is where I'd also say we are going to win, but a road division game is never a gimmey. But I do think our offense will do better against your defense that your offense will do against our defense.

We'll find out soon enough. :)

I really don't think the Fins are a terrible team at all. Sherman and Philbin are both extremely talented playcallers. We caught them at the right time w a rookie qb starting first game and no playmakers at WR.

Interesting notes: The fins were only outrushed last year 6 times and were a top 3 rushing D, giving up 3.7 ypc and only a single 100 yd rusher all last year (Tate). Also, our 20 point margin of victory against them has only been outdone once in the past 3 seasons by NE in 2010.

We face another stout test with our running game this week. Hopefully our O-line has a productive week at practice and in the film room and we start to show some progress and more cohesion. This will be a tougher test for our O overall as they will likely be much better against the pass, but with Schaub on fire right now, we should be able to find our guys open and win the game in the air.

Good news is they are beat up on the O-line so while I expect MJD to run for 4.0 ypc, we should get to Gabbert eventually and force him to make some mistakes which could be the difference.

Close one score game, coming down to the last couple stressful possessions...

Texans win 23-17.

MDJ is playing "average"..he is mentally playing, what he is getting "paid." He did not look the same yesterday, he left a lot of yards on the field. I'm glad he suffered a $800k fine for the hold out!

Agree! Did the Texans have any bad missed tackles, yesterday?

Yes, a few. One that continues to pop in my noodle is one where Cushing had Bush (I think it was Bush) in the backfield on a screen play. He tried patty-caking him high and Bush ran through him with a little help from an olineman. Cushing makes that play 9 times out of 10. That's why I was so irked at the time.

Drives you crazy! Especailly, if you played football. I was hounded by my high school Football coaches..tackle, wrap those arms and drive! Same thing yesterday w/Poz and Percy! No paddie cake or shoulder pad hits...also what drives me crazy watching DB's/safteys, trying to push out WR's on the sidelines... just tackle them!!!!

Ok now anyone ready to predict haha, i guess it was to early to make this thread originally.....

I predict Owen Daniels has a huge game. He and Schaub are going to really kick ass this year, and I think OD gets at least a TD and ends up with around 100 yards receiving. He's going to eat them alive.

Anytime Schaub and OD make consistent, early connections in a game...it always ends up opening up everything else. Defenses freak out, they don't know who to cover, and the whole offense becomes lethal. Owen Daniels will have a monster game.

Texans win 27-17 with Kubiak burning clock in the second half and kicking a FG or two to pad the lead the rest of the way. MJD will score. I think Mercedes Lewis scores, which gives them 14 and a FG to push it to 17 for them. Not enough to match our three TDs (Foster, Daniels, and AJ) and two FGs.

Your D line was getting moved all over the place against the Vikes. Gabbert does look improved, Jennings hurt so MJD will have to carry the bulk. He is always dangerous no matter who's blocking for him.

i wonder how the texans will play this game im thinking

on oFFENSIVE a heavy dose of foster foster tate tate and take ur shot downfield with AJ

but on D i bet we will not play 8 in the box and see just how much rust MJD has on him i think we will play the pass and just see how good Sunshine is make him try and beat us

hopefully we can shut down Blackmoon
