This thread is to give credit to players/plays that could easily have gone unnoticed. The three that stick out to me are:

1) Kareem Jackson played a great game. Did he allow a catch the whole game?

2) Jacoby Jones deserves partial credit for Foster's 2nd TD. He had an awesome downfield block.

3) Matt Turk. I'm one of his biggest critics, but he had one of his better games. He kicked it 50+ when he had to, and he pinned it inside the 20 when he had to.

I think a late catch to Simpson, when the defense was in prevent. You're right, our favorite "whipping boy" was up to the task.
 
Early in the game the Bengals were gashing us with the short passes to the backs and TE's when we were blitzing. In the 2nd half we seem to be getting pressure with 4 and they stopped having sucess doing that. Green and Simpson are going to make some plays because those WR's are that good but once we started getting heat on Dalton we forced him into some mistakes. It was huge getting the lead and running the ball and still scoring because he made them have to throw and we could just pin our ears back and come after the QB then.
 
Turk used to be hands down my favorite Texans player. Always wanted a Turk jersey. Is he retiring after this season?
 
I saw Jackson give up one or two, but even those were shorter 5-8 yard passes underneath on Simpson (who you have to respect his deep speed). He did have a really solid game, although I feel like Jason Allen was out on the field more than Jackson this game, and I can only assume that is because Allen is faster than Jackson and plays the deep ball a little better.
 
I thought Jason Allen had an excellent game for all the knocks he gets on this MB.
 
Agree with all three. The entire team really stepped it up and it translated. Winning your first playoff game is awesome, winning it 31-10 says something.
 
Antonio Smith was a monster! He was largely responsible for 3 of the 4 sacks. He had his best game since October, IMO.

You may be right about that... any way to confirm? Any place to see the snap count for each player?

He's a playoff monster. Smith stepped it up during the Cardinal's playoff run too, which ultimately led to his signing with us.

The Bengals had 6 offensive drives in the first half.
KJ played the first and last two (total of 4 series).
Allen played the middle two series.

The Bengals had 5 offensive drives in the second half.
KJ played the first 2 and the last one.
Allen played the middle two, similar to the first half.

On 3rd and short, when an opponent put in a run formation, JJo usually is the only CB on the field (we would play with 3 linemen, 5 LBs, JJo and the 3 safeties.)

Overall, KJ played about 6 or 7 more snaps than Allen.

They both played pretty well.
The only iffy play was when Dalton missed a wide open receiver down the right side line.
I'm not 100% sure of the coverage, but I think I would agree with Mayock that Allen got beat on that play.
Even if he was supposed to trail, he was too far away from the receiver.

2-19-CIN 37 (14:22) (Shotgun) A.Dalton pass incomplete deep right to J.Simpson.

That could have been a 40-yd pass or longer.
Without Demps, it would probably end up as a 63-yd TD pass.

BTW, I'm curious as how you guys see the PI by Quin.
JJo was on AJ Green.

This is a play that KJ was blamed for at least 5 times last year.

Thanks for the snap count details. Looks like KJ played more than Allen.

The video of the play on nfl.com isn't that great, doesn't show much. Hard to tell what kind of coverage Texans were in, but it seems like Jojo let Green simply go. Not sure if he bit hard on the play action, or if that's what he's supposed to do in that particular coverage.
 
from 620 it looked like allen was getting abused, but i wont see the dvr until atleast tomorrow.

a shoutout i have to give is to earl mitchell, he seemed to be all over key situations ... batted passes, tackles, hurries, a sack. he was the most popular guy over the PA.

No wonder we were so good on 3rd down, we had 12 damn people on the field. :d:

Haha, I know what you mean, just had to recount that to see if it was right. The dreaded 3-5-4
