Texans Defense did it again today...

Let's give credit where credit is due, 3 2nd half points given up by the defense to keep it close for "The Kid" to lead the team to victory...

Out-Freaking-Standing...

Defense did their job... not saying any different.

But Tj Yates won this game.

Period.

Yes he did, becasue the defense held the Bengals to 3 2nd half points....

If the defense let's them score even one more FG, game over....

Hey, we won 6 games last year because this defense pitched a shut-out in the second half.

That doesn't give the worse defense in Texans' history a pass. It's about the body of work.

The defense was awesome in the second half, with out TJ Yates & the offense, we're the freak'n Jags.

We needed 20 points to win this game, no more, no less. we scored 20.. that's offense baby..

It's a team win.... team, spelled T.J. Yates

it was an off day for the defense imo....really an off day for everyone. they still managed to put enough together for the win though....we have a good team folks.

I can't put this win down to TJ Yates alone, the dude stepped up and played his part but damn, you've got OD and KDub both putting up the kind of numbers we haven't seen them need to do in years. The D second half more than made up for a poor first half display.

You remember in the Frank Bush/Richard Smith years, how we'd be in the game at the half and come out in the second and get shredded up and down the field? We all used to complain that they didn't make adjustments at the half. Well that was a huge display of adjusting to stop the O. That one is on Wade, he knew what he needed to do to stop their O and give us a chance.

TJ has a few things to work on this week, he did make a few mistakes in this game, and if anything its a positive for him to be able to work those out now ready for the playoffs. But Oh my God that boy is the definition of 'clutch'. In that 2 minute drill there were a fair few negative plays that could easily have disrupted his flow, but he showed poise and leadership to keep the drive moving.

A couple of slight worries was our inability to get the run going, aside from a couple of big plays i think it was a fairly dosile attempt on the ground today, who knows, had we not been playing from behind they may have found their rhythm, but teams are honoring the run first and making TJ beat them and we need to find a way to grind it out still. And also I felt first half our run D looked pretty soft as well, Benson seemed guaranteed 6-8 yards up the middle. They fixed it at half time, and shut Benson down, but thats going to be a worry if we allow teams to get a lead on us like that in the playoffs.

Wow, I'm analyzing things we need to improve on in the playoffs, that feels pretty special. :whip:

They did enough to win but they don't get this one. The offense goes madhouse with TJ Yates with Foster running like crap and Tate dropping it again. Passing game gets the nod, Yates, OD, Walter put them over the top.

Barwin had a good game but Cushing seemed limited and the secondary let a few plays get away from them.

Yeah, when Dreessen got hurt, OD stepped it up. And though the sample size is limited, I love watching TJ in the 2-minute drill. Between his first drive a couple weeks ago to end the first half and this one, the dude is solid running a two-minute offense.

And as far as the defense, yeah, it was frustrating watching them give up two very long drives that started inside the Bengals' 5, but they did give up only 81 yards in the second half -- and in the second of those two long drives, well... stiffening at the goal line and holding the Bengals to 3 was obviously a game-changer in retrospect.

exactly, the team isnt always gonna play perfect, players will drop passes, defense wont shut down teams all the time. that is when you need a confident qb to step up and put the team on his back. and thats what yates did..

Yeah the defense didn't play as lights out as the previous few weeks and gave up the occasional big plays but damn it we only allowed 1 TD, coming up big when we needed a play and adjusted nicely in the 2nd, mostly shutting down that offense.

T.J. won it 'with the help of his defense'. Yates did fantastic in that two minute drill, but he wouldn't have had the opportunity if it wasn't for the defense stopping the Bengals that last drive.

defense got worked today, TJ bailed them out

cincy had 80 yards in the second half and three points you gotta credit wade with the adjustment at half time. The turning point in the game was also on the defense; connor barwins strip sack got our asses back in the game. The Defense played well and put us in position to win the game.

sorry for holding the D to such a high standard vs a rookie qb that pitt and balt worked. a ninety-seven yard drive??? if tj doesn't come up big then the D is to blame.

Our second half defense was phenomenal

No kidding , gave up a total of 81 yards in the second half .... and -8 rushing for Benson after gaining 92 in the first half.
Have to give them a lot of credit .... Not often you lose the turnover battle 4-1 and win a game on the road.

Yates looked like a totally different guy in the two minute drill with the game on the line.
