Winston, McManis on Yates

These guys had some good things to say about our rookie QB. I know everyone,, including myself, is obviously concerned and panicking about our seasion. But maybe this team will just continue to surprise folks. We do have an easy scheudle, and who knows...a month down the road, if the Texans manage Yates correctly, he could gain some confidence before the playoffs.

WINSTON
“I think next week you’ll see a much different T.J. because he can make some huge throws,” Winston said. “He’s much more athletic than Schaub or Leinart. That will work well with some of what we do. He can get out of the pocket, he can make some throws. I am not worried at all. I think that he'll meld well with what we’re doing in the play-action game.”

MCMANIS

“T.J. man, he’s a professional NFL quarterback,” defensive back Sherrick McManis said. “He’s definitely got room for improvement and needs time to grow like most of us. But on scout team he’s done exactly what he’s supposed to do.”

What we saw today was a head coach who just wanted to get out of a hostile environment with a win by carefully preserving a decent lead by running out the clock.

Having achieved that, he can now go to work on preparing Yates to being The Man.

I'm kind of excited the same weird way I was kind of excited about Leinart.

This season has been a blast.

You're right, it may not be our dream scenario, but damn are we getting entertained!

Even better, we're winning games at the same time :)

I just look at it in this way, the broncos have won 5 of 6 with freaking TIM TEBOW!! I'm sure with our defense and our great special teams play, Yates can win us some games. Now once we get into the playoffs, well, we'll see when that time comes.

Yep, we ended up starting 3rd string rook QB and came up with W. This is damn good IMO. Hopefully, Kubiak is able to coach him up for next game with simple QB scheme to start with and put some additional wrinkles to each game he plays.

Go Texans!!!

I get what you are saying, but we didn't start Yates.

Well, excuse me Rey. I meant using/playing instead of starting.:slapfight: But you are right. I missed on that sentence. Try to give me a little slack as English is my second language.

Go Texans!!!

I hope they're right, and i won't pass judgment yet, but they're not going to say "Yah, we shouldn't expect much out of TJay. Watching him in practice, you get the feeling he can come in and really screw things up for us. We should just IR the whole team and try again next year."

But, maybe they really do have confidence in the kid...

Am I the only one who thought on the 4 yard run by Yates he looked slower than Schaub? I can't remember when the run was, but he fell just short of the first down marker.

he didn't seem that slow. My only thought was WHY ARE YOU RUNNING, WE DONT HAVE A REPLACEMENT FOR YOU!!!

He didn't look slow as much as he looked timid...

Anything players say to the media concerning other players or coaches is likely BS. What else are they going to say?

TJ Yates did a good job with what he was given to play with. Also, can we acknowledge the fact that the threw no INTs and didn't take any sacks.
