Jonathan Joseph most underrated free angency pick up in 2011

His impact has been unspeakable.

Wish we had Manning the rest of the way. Would love to see how both of them played as Wade's defense ramps up.

Other players on the defense get more pub, but IMO this guy is the defensive MVP.

We haven't had a receiver really have a good/dominant performance against us this season. Brandon Marshall comes to mind, but one of his big catches was against Joseph, but it was perfect coverage, and then on one he made Allen his b*tch, but nothing else i can think of.

Well, I speak about it anyway. Joseph is playing at a level that only Revis has surpassed. Flat out, Joseph has been better than Nnamdi. The greatest free agent acquisition in Houston Texan history. OK, it was a low bar to jump over. But, the bar is set very high now.

Definitely.

Yeah, he is definitely the best FA in Houston Texans history. The question is though who would be #2?? Lol!!

YUP!! 1560 Has plenty of Yahoo Sports guys on (Duh, YahooSportsRadio is 1560), but many of them have stated that it was either something like the "most underrated FA signing" and I've even heard "The 'BEST' FA acquisition signing".

I'll admit I was disappointed the Texans didn't get Asomugha, but Joseph was a brilliant signing.

Houston has a shutdown corner!

I was talking to my buddy the other day (DC_TxTech) and he asked me if we could swap for Nnamdi right now at this moment and money was not a factor, would I do it.

I thought about it for a second and I said confidently, "No". The reason being is J-Jo has played and surpassed every expectation that we had. He is finally our lockdown corner that helps us wreak havoc on QB's.

Im not discounting Nnamdi's ability in any way, even though he's had some trouble adjusting to a new defensive scheme. Im saying that we know what we have in J-Jo and he has not disappointed in any facet of his game.

The dude is legit and should be recognized among the top CB's in the game at this point.

I probably wouldnt just for age purposes. But for play, as amazing as Joseph's been, Nnamdi is still a better player overall.

Yeah but would you take the chance in hoping Nnamdi gels in our system even knowing how phenomenal JJ has been playing?

Kind of the old addage (sp.), "a bird the hand is better than two in the bush".

Antonio or wade smith.

Antonio most likely but considering the contract and the productivity of wade I could see a good case being made. Wade has been a good steady starter.

Eh, yeah, I dunno. I'm sure Nnamdi would be fine in our system, and will be fine in the Eagles' system.

Before we signed Joseph I said that he had a good chance at being better than aso. Younger, quicker not afraid to bang, excellent speed, ball skills.

He's worth every penny we paid.

I told some people the same thing when there were rumors out there that we were going after Aso. He's definitely had a much, much bigger impact than the other guy and he's the better value without a doubt.

I love the way Joseph has played for us and I wouldn't make the change, but I still do believe Nnamdi is a slightly superior corner... Just a specialist when it comes to press man coverage.

Gotta say it's been nice having a true #1 corner... :bravo: Makes me almost forget about KJ.....

almost

I still think Nnamdi is better. With that said look at the age and price difference, that makes Joseph a great acquisition and if he continues to play like this he'll be considered a top CB by the time he's 30 too.

IMO, it depends on how you use them. Currently ASO is being used in a mostly zone defense, but he excelled in Oakland in a man defense and only on one side of the field. I suspect that if we had ASO, played him strictley man and on the side he likes, he would be a better lockdown than JoJo. However, for overall competence playing man, zone and either side of the field JoJo is the better pick.

Exactly... Philly wasn't utilizing his strengths earlier in the season and he did struggle a little bit, but in that facet he excels.

Dude had two touchdowns called back by penalties against the Steelers.

Don't think Asomugha has had any TDs called back....

Joseph is also ahead of Aso in picks this season---3 to 2.

Just sayin'....

I believe that if jj's two touchdowns didnt get called back he would be getting more media attention...screw leach to the beach last year we neoted to gjet joesph to the probowl

I agree, but is he the greatest FA value - dollar wise ? 23 mill is a lot of clams.
And I'm wondering, wasn't Foster technically a FA acquisition since he wasn't drafted ?

ASO is just now getting used to a new defense so I think he will be back to normal soon. I am sure Joseph will have the opportunity to be just as good by the time he is thirty.

When people (media, fans, etc.) use the term "free agency", they're referring to veteran free agency.
And when some people are mistaken and have problems about admitting it, they make up their own little rules retroactively.
In Summary: (1) Texans top rookie FA - Arian Foster
(2) Texans top non-rookie FA - Jonathan Joseph
(3) Texans all-time top FA signing. - Arian Foster

I wouldn't go that far, but I'm plenty happy with J Jo and the extra cap room.

Remember Eagles have had Nnamdi in Zone, which is like keeping your Corvette parked in the garage.
Given that our guy is 3 years junior in age (27 vs 30), I think this is a
debatable point.

Hopefully this will be the start of a long career here in Houston, CB for another 4-5 and maybe some Safety after that.

While I can't disagree that Joseph is the greatest "veteran" FA acquisition in franchise history, we do have one other veteran that subsequently turned into an All-Pro player.

Vonta probably deserves a mention in this thread above and beyond the minor Leach to the beach comment made earlier.
