What makes you feel proud of our team?

What is it? What are the things that make you tune in every week possibly knowing that the game could turn out like it always has? Don't get me wrong, i'm die hard, but I've never seen a game where itmakes me proud to be a fan. Even the way we lose gets me riled. I mean i'm happy were not in colts condition, but you can look at a similar team (Tennessee) and respect their losses. I can never say I respected a Texan win or loss this season, even vs the colts.

So what makes you love them.

I would rather be. They are going to have Peyton back at QB next year and possibly Andrew Luck as his back up. Damn!!!!!!!

The fact that I'm a native and they represent this city.

That's it, period. I don't think I'd choose them as "my favorite team" if I was from some place like Montana or something. But, I live here and I'm a "root for the hometeam" kind of guy.....through good times & bad.

I honestly don't have an answer for that.

I guess I could say...well, (sigh) I don't really know. I'm trying real hard here, I really am, but at the end of the day...what DO we have to be proud of?

Jim Harbaugh has a perennially sucky 49ers team (don't be mad at me, Vinny) looking like world beaters right now, having just taken down a 5-0 Lions team in the Lions' own stadium. I'm proud that the 49ers are an American football team, since I am a proud American. That's the only pride I feel right now.

This should be a really short thread.

I am also proud to be a texan fan as it does represent this city. However at least the 9'ers fans can be proud of their amazing run defense, even if they had a losing record. Other than being from houston and having andre/foster, I cant fully get behind this team. Even if we end up with a losing record there is still honor in knowing we have SOMEthing there to be proud of. I can't say im proud of anything that we accomplished.

The fact that, despite season after season of falling short, analysts and sports journalists continue to have us as the season's up-and-coming team and a playoff hopeful.

OK, I found what makes me proud of this team:

Batman Arkham City is released on Monday at midnight. I can grab a controller and kick henchmen's asses.

Why didn't I think of that earlier? Doy.

Simple because im a Homer a die hard Win or lose im with this team for the rest of my life :kitten:

I'm not from Houston, but I've been here for 10 years, and love this place.

The reason I got hooked on this team was because I thought it would be cool to see a brand new team start from scratch, and watch that team build it's history. There won't be any new NFL teams, and likely no expansion NBA, NHL and MLB teams in the future. So, the Texans, for the forseeable future, are the new kids in all of sports. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the other sports have had any expansion teams added since the Texans).

As a sports fan, I just thought it would be cool to see an upstart professional sports team "build" a legacy, and that it would be cool get in on the ground floor.

I'm proud that they stay so upbeat when they get beatdown each year.

I would've said the Tailgating but after how I was treated by the Tailgate Nazis last week I wouldn't even say that anymore. Also the fact that they found an excuse to start charging people for tailgating.

I'm proud that they stay so upbeat when they get beatdown each year

Instant classic..lol.

I think a lot of us looked at that angle.

Ground floor.

We all knew it was going to be a while before we fielded a winner and figured we'd earn our chops as fans by suffering through the lean, early seasons so we could tell our grandkids, "I was there from the beginning. My God, they were bad back then, but I didn't care. They were OUR team."

I'll always be a fan but I'm not going to let Bob piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Native Houstonian that grew up during luv-ya-blue.

Really want that mood back here for the Texans, but
realize after 6 years that it ain't gonna happen under Gary.

Really hope Wade doesn't get canned because Gary is
overrated as an offensive mind. The defense is much better
this year.

Thank God my coogs are a solid team with a great QB

Mario, Cushing, AJ and Arian as far as players go. Add to that the native Texan angle, live in the Houston metro area, been a fan from the beginning and hoping this year will finally be THE year.:kitten::elmo:

The GREAT FANS of the HOUSTON TEXANS are the only thing to be proud of about this team.

The fact that the Texans rank in the top 10 most valued franchises in the world. (Great job Jamey Rootes) Despite having put a crap product on the field for almost a decade.

I grew up in little 'ole Port Arthur & dreamed of moving to the big city (Houston) one day. Life didn't turn out that way.

I didn't get into football until the Jimmy Johnson (from Port Arthur) won his first Super Bowl. I followed the Cowboys as long as he was there, then they turned into thugs & JJ went on an ego thing, hiring yes men as coaches.

Ricky Williams came out of UT, was drafted by Ditka in New Orleans, I became a Saints fan. Haslett came in & changed the culture of that franchise with Aaron Brooks & Joe Horn & Duece McCallister. After they traded Ricky Williams, and Joe Horn stopped being Hollywood Joe I lost most of my interest in that team.

Houston had their team somewhere in there, & I started following them. Houston was my AFC team & New Orleans was my NFC team. I was pretty passionate about Houston for the first two years but that third year of watching Carr being trotted out there again & again... I don't think I watched two games that year. I didn't watch any of the 2-14 season.

When McNair fired Capers & brought in Kubiak, I went balls deep. I liked Denver's offensive philosophy, I liked that Kubiak was a Houston boy, & if you listened to the way he talked, he got me pumped up about the future of the Texans. I bought my season tickets & forgot about the Saints. I've been all Texans ever since.

Kubiak impressed me that first season, not necessarily his coaching, I knew he wasn't a freak'n head coach that first year. But he talked about building a franchise, raising expectations, he spent most of his drafts on defense & made an offense out of 2nd tiered talent. I truly believe he's focused on building a Super Bowl contender.

No doubt about it, I've given the man some slack, I'm still rooting for him to succeed even though it's getting harder & harder for me to believe that he will. But he's built a great team, just can't get them to win.

I see problems with the offense, but scoring 30 points at will..... more or less, over the last three years, I love that. Throwing that ball all over the field, I love that. Big gapping holes & long runs, I love it. Rock & Roll Houston Texans.... Love it.

The Defense in 2009, loved it.... very proud of that. This years defense... that's my defense, those are my bois....

Pro Bowlers, Andre, OD, Schaub, Arian, Leach, Mario, Cushing, Demeco... I love this team.

I don't think that feeling will ever happen again no matter who the coach is. That was a special time and Houston was a much different place than it is now.

I wasn't born in Houston, but I've been living here since before the Beatles came out, so I guess I root for Houston teams. If I'm interested in the sport, that is. And I've given up on all sports except for pro-football, so that leaves me with this sad sack team called the Texans. I want them to win, I hope they'll win, but they always end up kicking me in the nuts with another preventable loss.

I don't know why I like the Texans because they haven't yet given me a reason to, but I do anyway. That's the best I can explain it.

Honestlty this team has never accomplished anything of merit. But it's my hometown team and I loved the oilers until they died and became the teets. I can't say they've ever done anything on the field to make me proud. But I am a Houstonian and I will dance with the one that brought me.

There's nothing to be proud of about this bunch. Eternal underachievers don't generate pride. I support this team because I've be assigned this team by the fates.

The fact that I'm a native and they represent this city.

I like this team because I'm a closet masochist... nothing gives me more joy than suffering the pain of being a fan of this team.. :cricket:

This is really the only valid excuse. It's like that ****** up son you love, despite the fact that you'll probably die before you see him succeed in anything.

LOL....exactly.

Reppin the city as a native Houstonian and it's football.....so till death do us part...for better or 10 years of worse I guess. :texanbill:

Plus I always root for underdogs....so luckily my team the Texans fit rrrrrrrrrrright into that mold prefectly.

Grew up in Houston. Also happen to like the owner and how he presents himself. Like most of the players. Most of all -- had to listen to Cowboy fans give me hell year after year when i moved from Houston into Cowboy territory. I suffered with this cities football teams for so long no way I'm leaving now, Although they would probably win the superbowl next year if I did leave.

Well, they have so much talent, so playing Madden online with them is pretty fun. Being a native Houstonian is the only reason why I follow this team. I support any team with "Houston" across the front.

The year the Texans were announced as the expansion team is when I started to follow football. I started playing with them on Madden and fell in love.

Haven't been able to stop watching since game 1. Hope to make it down to Houston for a game soon, the atmosphere looks unreal at the home games.

I have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and this is the team I'm fixated on. If I had picked the Rockets or Astros I'd be cured by now. But the Texans tease me with just enough success to think there will be a Red Sox or Saints type payoff for my loyalty one day.

:runaway:
