4 Weeks and counting ...

It is now 4 weeks in a row that the Texans' offense has let teams stick around, instead of putting them away. Over that period they are 2-2. This offense needs to learn how to put teams away. There is no reason the Texans should have only been up by 2 at halftime. The defense played too well for that. All offseason we heard that all we need is for the defense to be average and this team would make the playoffs. Well, they're playing better than average and the offense isn't holding up it's end of the deal. If this supposed great offense could consistently score like a great offense would, these games would turn into blowouts. A large lead would force the opposing team's offense to become a one dimensional passing attack, which makes the defense's job much easier. That is how a large lead begets a rout. One need look no further than the Peyton Manning-led Colts method of winning football to see how this works. Once those Colts teams got up on other teams those games were over. Their defense would pin their ears back and pressure the QB while their offense would steadily increase the score until victory was out of reach for their opponents.

The Texans have a "top offense" when looking at the stat sheet, but
when you watch the game, you'll see that they are amazing when
the other team is playing Prevent Zone.

Just like their regular seasons under Kubiak, they'll get every stat in the book
except the "win." They went 9-7 on a schedule that any decent team
would've gotten 12-4. They beat NOBODY that year, and this Kubiak
fella is still around.

To me it's the same problem each week: Not knocking out an opponent when that opponent is ready to be knocked out.

It finally happened. We actually agree on something!

If Kubiak could stop being a backup QB for just one minute and learn to put his foot on the pedal and not let up for a full 60 minutes, I dare say Kubiak would be a great coach. But the guy just gets too scared with a lead, just wants to have a chance in the 4th instead of blowing teams out, and is too damn conservative.

His idea of success is having a chance to win at the end of games instead of actually winning football games. It truly is baffling.

To me it's the same problem each week: Not knocking out an opponent when that opponent is ready to be knocked out.

Yep. Kubiak just does not have that killer instinct. If he did, as I said above, I think he'd be great. But some guys have it and some guys don't, and Kubes does not have IT. He never will and that is why he is a failure as a head coach.

You mean there is no "mercy rule" in the NFL when we go up by 10 or 14 in the 1st quarter?!?
