Texans one of last teams to report

Who really gives a rat's ass about the first preseason game. The Texans will have LESS days in camp before the opening REGULAR game than most of the other teams.

I believe at the end of training camp each team will have the same number of practices. That's why It's staggered. I probably misheard though, I was concentrating on my GPS when I was listening on the radio.

All the teams report 15 days prior to the first preseason game. The Texans and Jets play that Monday night, so we in turn have one of the latest camps to start. I also like this because it will give us time to get more training camp bodies, and the free agents we want to get into camp. Teams that start on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be at a disadvantage at first because they can't sign free agents until the league year starts.

EDIT: Also, you might want to actually pay attention to the details that were laid out in the new CBA. It requires teams to wait until 15 days prior to the first PRESEASON game being played to open camp.

Yeah, but specifically this year it will actually be helpful to the Texans to start camp last. Give more time to sign free agents and possibly sign players who are cut by other teams.

And with that assumption you would be wrong.

Not a trait that is in much practice here at times.

Bob Mcnair said that by us starting late and our first pre season game being on monday we get 5 less practices than every other team. just saying ;)
